After the Corpseification, the power of the Electric Eel's electric current was outrageous. At the moment Lin Yi was shocked, he even felt as if his soul had left his body. He could only curse Kachi for the Combat Suit's performance, which was truly disappointing, but his body did not hesitate to leap into the air.
The intense electric light seemed to have eyes of its own, relentlessly pursuing Lin Yi. On the surface of the sea, he appeared like a clown, performing a silent comedy of bouncing and running. Although Lin Yi desperately tried to kill those Electric Eels, every time he attempted to approach them, they would swiftly retreat and continuously discharge electricity. Despite having taken the Potential Gene Drug, he was still flesh and blood, and facing such powerful currents was difficult.
On the beach, more and more Octopus Monsters and Zombies were gathering, while on the surface of the sea, Electric Eels were constantly unleashing electric attacks. Lin Yi found himself in a dilemma. At this rate, not only would he fail to find Li Qiweng, but he might also be exhausted to death by these creatures. After much thought, Lin Yi decided to head ashore; Zombies and Octopus Monsters were relatively easier to deal with.
With a few steps, Lin Yi's feet landed firmly on the ground. The Zombies and Octopus Monsters naturally would not miss this opportunity; as soon as Lin Yi touched down, they pounced on him like locusts. The various types of Zombies sprawled out like hungry ghosts from hell, letting out piercing howls as their emaciated black hands reached out desperately toward him, their grayish-white eyes filled with restless fury.
The sound of the eight tentacles of the Octopus Monster colliding created an irritating "thud" that struck at Lin Yi's heart, making him uncomfortable. Were these creatures demonstrating? His agitation grew stronger. He worried about why his emotions were so volatile but felt no desire to control them at that moment. The more chaotic it became, the more exhilarating it felt.
The cold light flickered under the dazzling sunlight in this area as Lin Yi's figure twisted and turned with ghostly agility. Those approaching Octopus Monsters were sent flying as if struck by a giant force. But that wasn't enough; they were reckless. Lin Yi roared and accelerated his swings with the Silver Soul in hand. In a flash of light and shadow, those Zombies were instantly shredded into a mist of blood, completely vanishing from this world.
Just then, a long and sharp scream echoed across the sea surface, causing Lin Yi's eardrums to ache painfully. The Zombies and Octopus Monsters around him had been completely annihilated; upon hearing the strange cry, he immediately turned to look. However, before he could see what was happening, a massive wave surged forward with tremendous force. Lin Yi's legs pushed against the ground as he tried to retreat using that force. But the sand on the beach clearly couldn't withstand his strength and sank beneath him. Although Lin Yi was powerful, it felt like hitting cotton; his strength had nowhere to go.
In just a second or two, that huge wave crashed down upon him. The foul-smelling salty seawater instantly engulfed Lin Yi. The water was tainted with juices from numerous Zombies and Octopus Monsters and inevitably contained Zombie Virus. So at that moment of entering the water, Lin Yi immediately held his breath and steadied himself.
The massive wave came quickly and receded just as fast; Lin Yi's strength meant it didn't have too much impact on him. However, when that layer capable of causing fatal harm to ordinary people—the Water Screen—descended, Lin Yi's face turned pale instantly.
Suddenly, a gigantic black creature appeared on the shimmering sea surface as if a mountain had risen from the depths. But this wasn't a real mountain; Lin Yi saw that enormous creature waving its tentacles incessantly. Another Giant Squid? Lin Yi shook his head; it didn't resemble one at all but looked more like a giant Jellyfish instead. Yet he had never heard of such a large Jellyfish before—let alone one that was pure black.
The Giant Jellyfish gave Lin Yi no time for further thought; its tentacles seemed to extend infinitely as they shot toward him in an attempt to ensnare him. For just a moment of distraction upon seeing those deadly tentacles approaching rapidly, he swung his blade in response. Surrounded by enemies, he had no choice but to fight to the bitter end.
The Jellyfish's tentacles felt soft and easily breakable to Lin Yi since over ninety percent of its body was water. However, an eerie scene unfolded quickly: despite his strike being powerful enough to sever a steel rod thick as an adult's thigh, when it hit the Jellyfish's tentacle, it felt like striking diamond instead. A piercing sound rang out as not even a scratch appeared on the Jellyfish’s tentacle. Although that diamond-like tentacle wasn't severed, Lin Yi's strength still pushed it back forcefully.
As the tentacle retracted, Lin Yi realized that the dark Jellyfish was not originally black; rather, it was covered in a thick layer of material that resembled rock. He marveled at the Creator's ingenuity, having crafted such a terrifying creature. However, what filled him with dread was that this Jellyfish had also been infected by the Zombie Virus, its overwhelming stench of decay unmistakable.
The power of the Corpseification Diamond Jellyfish was no joke. Although it was currently in shallow waters, its speed was no less than that of deep-sea creatures. Just as Lin Yi managed to block the first wave of attacks from the Jellyfish with a strike, it had already crawled to the shore. Taking advantage of the waves stirred up by the Jellyfish, Lin Yi quickly retreated several dozen steps to avoid being crushed into a pulp by its massive body.
Around him, Zombies and Octopus Monsters swiftly withdrew, seemingly following some command as they ceased their pursuit of Lin Yi. Following this, a throng of Zombies and Octopus Monsters surged toward the road like a tide. The Corpseification monsters passing by ignored Lin Yi entirely, lining up in an orderly fashion as they rushed toward land.
Seeing these deathly creatures disregard him so completely, Lin Yi paid no mind to the threat posed by the Jellyfish and leaped forward to block the advancing monsters.
An Octopus Monster swung its tentacles at Lin Yi with great force, aiming to smash this oblivious human into a pulp. Lin Yi snorted lightly, his Silver Soul not idle as he slashed diagonally at the creature.
At that moment, he saw the Octopus Monster blocking his path fly over his head with a loud thud. Immediately after, a foul-smelling black tentacle reached out toward him. Lin Yi had no time for surprise; he quickly swung his knife in defense. The giant hand matched Lin Yi's strength, and both sides were evenly matched.
Lin Yi steeled himself; this giant Jellyfish was clearly targeting him. With that thought in mind, he decided not to hesitate any longer. He knew his teammates were not far away and could handle the Zombie water monsters. Lin Yi leaped into the air, determined to end this quickly. No matter what type of Zombie it was, once its brain was destroyed, it would be unable to cause any more trouble.
The Giant Jellyfish seemed to anticipate Lin Yi's intentions; as he jumped up, its tentacles followed suit. The flailing appendages blocked his path forward, forcing him to slash at them and use their momentum to halt his advance. Once he stopped, he lost his chance to move forward again. The Jellyfish's tentacles appeared like spears in a dense forest, continuously emerging before him.
Lin Yi dodged back and forth within this forest of Jellyfish tentacles; however, every time he attempted to escape, he would be besieged by other Zombies and Octopus Monsters, only to be ensnared again by the Jellyfish's tentacles. After repeating this for over half an hour, Lin Yi found himself completely trapped within the Jellyfish's encirclement while it showed no signs of being able to kill him.
With the Potential Gene Drug and half its effects slipping away without finding Li Qiweng, even his own safety became precarious. Lin Yi felt increasingly anxious; if this dragged on any longer, he would only exhaust himself to death unless a miracle occurred. The entire island had likely fallen into a tide of Zombies by now, leaving Lin Yi with no plans left.
Grinding his teeth in frustration, Lin Yi pulled out another Potential Gene Drug and quickly consumed it. He knew that for ordinary people, this drug could only be taken once within a specified timeframe; however, he had no other choice now and prayed for a miracle.
The moment the potential drug hit Lin Yi's stomach, an intense burning sensation engulfed his entire body as if waves were crashing against his senses painfully. He understood that he had to endure at all costs; otherwise, he would lose his life immediately. But the discomfort was unbearable; it felt as though every cell in his body was burning fiercely, unleashing tremendous heat within him.
"Ahhh~~" Lin Yi howled upward in an attempt to release the overwhelming force surging inside him. The Giant Jellyfish did not care about Lin Yi's condition; its tentacles struck down just as he let out his cry.
Lin Yi's eyes were tightly shut at that moment, yet he could sense the looming threat of death. With a loud shout, he relied on his instincts and charged forward with his twin blades. The sharp sound of metal clashing echoed in his ears, and Lin Yi noticed something different about the noise. He could clearly feel that the power behind this strike was more than double what it usually was. Realizing that his attack had made an impact, he quickly opened his eyes despite the discomfort.
What greeted him was a sea of crimson. Lin Yi felt liquid flowing from his eyes and hastily wiped it away with the back of his hand, staining it with blood.
"Am I bleeding?" Lin Yi muttered to himself, only to find blood trickling from the corner of his mouth as well. Soon, he discovered that blood was seeping from his ears and nostrils too!
The Giant Jellyfish had just been nearly severed by Lin Yi's strike, and its previously "gentle" demeanor instantly shifted into a furious rage. All of its tentacles seemed to break through their limits, creating a whistling sound as they sliced through the air. Despite the pain coursing through his body, Lin Yi's reaction speed reached an unprecedented peak.
Though the Giant Jellyfish moved quickly, Lin Yi was still able to clearly track its movements. With almost imperceptible speed, he slashed at the nearest tentacle, which had once been as hard as diamond but now felt like ordinary wood as it was easily severed.
Before the Jellyfish could even register the pain, Lin Yi leaped to another tentacle and swiftly cut it down as well. However, these attacks did not inflict any fatal damage on the Jellyfish. Seizing the moment, Lin Yi executed several rapid jumps that brought him directly atop the Jellyfish's head.
At this point, the Jellyfish seemed to finally realize what was happening; its previously coordinated tentacle strikes became erratic flails as it struggled to locate its enemy. Lin Yi's mind was solely focused on killing the Jellyfish. Once on top of its head, he crossed his twin blades and twisted his waist sharply. In an instant, he spun in mid-air with his body inverted—head down and feet up—while his blades whirled like a crazed turbine aimed at the Jellyfish's massive head.
The hard shell atop the Jellyfish's head shattered under the assault, exposing the decaying black flesh within. In mere seconds, a gaping hole over half a meter wide and more than a meter deep had been carved into its head, with Lin Yi's upper body nearly buried inside.
After several moments of wildly thrashing its arms, the Giant Jellyfish finally lost all vitality. Its enormous tentacles slammed heavily against the ground, kicking up clouds of dust. Exhausted from exertion, Lin Yi fell heavily to the ground with a thud. His consciousness remained somewhat clear; although fatigue overwhelmed him to an extreme degree, he fought through dizziness and crawled out from within the hole.
The sun shone brightly overhead as Lin Yi emerged with his twin blades in hand, covered in blackened zombie flesh. His face was splattered with blood, giving him a fearsome appearance. He let out an absurd laugh that eventually turned painful for his lungs before he abruptly collapsed without warning…
