Many things are more terrifying than death, such as the death of Consciousness, yet it seems to survive like a demon. Lin Yi had never felt so hopeless as he did now, unable to find Li Qiweng, and he was about to become a Zombie. He was confident that he wouldn't be bitten by a Zombie, so he hadn't carried any Serum with him, and now it was too late to go back. In that moment, he recalled the soldiers who had succumbed to the Zombie Virus not long ago; they had resolutely pulled the pins from their grenades, choosing to perish alongside the Zombies. Lin Yi looked at the Silver Soul in his hand, raising it to the edge of his neck. With just a light stroke, his precious head would lose its vitality forever.
The Zombie that had just bitten Lin Yi watched his strange actions and let out a gurgling sound from its throat. It was hungry; having found something to eat, it needed to act quickly before another Zombie snatched it away. Having made its decision, this half-headed Zombie would no longer hesitate. It emitted an unpleasant "Hehe" sound and opened its mouth at an incredible angle, lunging for Lin Yi's neck.
In the end, Lin Yi couldn't bring himself to embrace death; there were still many things he hadn't finished. For instance, killing this ugly Zombie drooling in front of him—it actually wanted to eat him! Lin Yi felt he couldn't endure such humiliation; no matter how downcast he was, he couldn't be treated as food by a Zombie!
A flash of silver light darted across an inconspicuous spot by the sea, and the half-headed Zombie was completely transformed into a headless corpse. At that moment when Lin Yi's blade fell, more Zombies lunged at him. The unspoken rules of the Zombie world dictated that they must constantly fight for more flesh and blood in order to survive longer.
Lin Yi hesitated for a moment; he was about to undergo Corpseification and become part of the Zombie Army. If he killed these Zombies now, would it be considered self-inflicted harm? No, he couldn't think like that. Even if he was about to become a Zombie, he would be a kind-hearted one.
The dazzling blade light once again shone on the Zombie-infested shore as scenes of slaughter unfolded once more. Lin Yi felt a surge of violent emotions rising within him; that feeling intensified with every swing of his blade.
Was this the rhythm of becoming a Zombie? Lin Yi sensed his emotions becoming increasingly difficult to control. He watched as the Zombies were shredded into pieces and felt an indescribable thrill in his heart. He wanted to continue this killing spree until every last Zombie was dead.
Time passed second by second; Lin Yi had already prepared himself for becoming a Zombie. He planned to greet other Zombies after Corpseification—"Hey, buddies, we are comrades now." In the end, he would wait for his former comrades to give him a good shot with their Laser Guns—a Laser Beam right through his head—before his wicked body could even commit any sins.
Just minutes passed, yet Lin Yi continued his frenzied slaughter against the approaching Zombies. He still loathed those rotting creatures while they continued to crave his flesh and blood. Lin Yi's Consciousness remained completely consumed by Scarlet blood; everything in this world seemed red to him. Yet deep inside, there was still a Consciousness calling out to him, reminding him that there was a mission left unfulfilled.
Lin Yi's previously blurred Consciousness slowly began to clear up again, but that violent emotion still surged through his mind. He stood by the sea, wielding the Silver Soul tirelessly against the encroaching Zombies. His body was splattered with black, Scarlet, and milky white remnants; at that moment, he resembled a devil from hell more than any Zombie—a mad devil.
Wen, Wen, where are you? Amidst the relentless killing, Lin Yi felt an increasing unease in his heart. He had come looking for Li Qiweng but found himself going insane here! Yet he clearly remembered being bitten by a Zombie; he should have turned into one by now—why did he still have such clear Consciousness? Lin Yi's mind was filled with questions, but he didn't know whom to ask.
Suddenly, the surface of the sea erupted violently; those Zombies swimming in the water were thrown into the air by this shockwave. It was as if a super beast had emerged from beneath the waves—nothing could impede its advance. Lin Yi was startled by this intense disturbance; although he seemed mad now, it didn't mean he had lost his ability to think or become a mere walking corpse.
Lin Yi didn't have time to think about why he hadn't undergone Corpseification yet, but that no longer mattered. The monstrous shape emerging from the sea was too terrifying; he certainly didn't want to be devoured by some bizarre creature that could appear at any moment. Before Lin Yi could escape the water, a powerful current swept over him. He could even see the water shimmering with light as the electric currents spread outwards at a terrifying speed.
Although Lin Yi was wearing a Combat Suit, the intense electricity made him shudder involuntarily. It felt as if thousands of ants were biting him all over. The dazed Lin Yi was jolted awake by this sudden shock. He quickly pushed off with his toes and leaped out of the Water Surface.
At that moment, Lin Yi finally saw what was approaching the surface: a group of snake-like creatures. Their long bodies glided through the water in perfect unison, and any nearby Zombies were sent flying by their collisions. Connecting this with the massive electric current he had just experienced, Lin Yi realized that these creatures were Electric Eels. However, they seemed unusually large, each as thick as a human thigh and measuring over two meters long as they floated on the Water Surface!
Just as Lin Yi was filled with dread, something even more terrifying happened. Behind the Electric Eels, more gigantic marine creatures began to emerge one after another. In his twenty-plus years of life, Lin Yi had eaten plenty of seafood, but this was the first time he felt fear towards those shrimp and crabs.
A bright red creature that resembled both a spider and a crab quickly surfaced from the water. Its eight legs waved above the Water Surface, and within seconds it crawled onto the beach. Lin Yi estimated that the longest tentacles of this Octopus Monster were at least two meters long; if one of them pierced him, it would surely leave him feeling utterly chilled.
This was just the beginning. As the first Octopus Monster reached the beach, more of these large creatures seemed to have coordinated their emergence from the water. Lin Yi felt his scalp tingle; he hated being so closely watched by what had once been his food.
"Roar!" The Zombies appeared to be invigorated by this powerful support and became excited. Lin Yi thought he might become one of these Zombies, but it was clear that they did not regard him as an ally.
Suddenly, Lin Yi's eyes widened as he stared at an Octopus Monster raising its claw high. He noticed a piece of white fabric on it. In that moment, Lin Yi fell into a frenzy again. He recognized it as a fragment from Li Qiweng's strapless dress that she had worn that morning—something he had personally chosen for her late at night. Having taken the Potential Gene Drug, Lin Yi's strength was extraordinary; he was certain that this piece of fabric had fallen from Li Qiweng.
The previously suppressed rage surged within him instantly; Lin Yi's eyes turned Scarlet as he charged toward the massive Octopus Monster like an enraged Bull, disregarding everything in his path. The surrounding Zombies were momentarily stunned by Lin Yi's reckless charge toward the Octopus Monster and did not react.
In an instant, Lin Yi leaped right in front of the Octopus Monster. However, these octagonal beasts were quick to respond; just as Lin Yi landed, their long claws shot toward him like sharp needles.
"Get lost!" Lin Yi shouted loudly as his body spun rapidly.
Silver light danced wildly around him, and with a series of clashing sounds, those red-and-white interlaced claws were instantly severed and shot into the air. Half of the claws from several surrounding Octopus Monsters were eliminated in this way, still poised in an attacking stance despite being cut off mid-strike.
Lin Yi couldn't care less about the chaos around him; he was desperately trying to recall where that Octopus Monster draped in white cloth had come ashore. The scene was too chaotic, and he couldn't figure out from which direction those creatures had appeared. But none of that mattered; even if he had to dig three feet into the ground, Lin Yi was determined to find Li Qiweng.
The Octopus Monsters seemed to realize that Lin Yi didn't see them as a threat, and they instantly became furious. One after another, they swung their tentacles, attempting to deliver a fatal blow to him. However, Lin Yi was focused on finding Li Qiweng in the sea, and he simply sliced through the outstretched tentacles with his blade.
Though they were just ordinary Octopus Monsters, they still had their dignity! All the Octopus Monsters surrounded Lin Yi like a wall, intent on eliminating this arrogant intruder. Lin Yi's mind was solely fixated on one belief: to find Li Qiweng. Yet these Octopus Monsters were relentlessly attacking him. In an instant, Lin Yi summoned all his strength into his arms; the two Silver Souls spun like high-speed wings, and within seconds, the encircling Octopus Monsters were reduced to nothing but pulp.
But the Corpseification Octopus Monsters were not so easily dealt with. As long as their heads remained intact, they continued to swing at Lin Yi, trying to impede his progress.
Lin Yi's combat prowess grew stronger by the moment as he fought his way through the zombies and Octopus Monsters. Just as his foot touched the water, a surge of electricity more intense than before swept over him, causing Lin Yi to feel as if he were spinning in place.
