The air on the plateau was somewhat chilly, and even though the Rising Sun hung high above, an inexplicable chill spread around the convoy. Lin Yi's Adam's apple bobbed slowly as he parted his cracked lips, which had dried out from the ravages of war. Fear that was hard to articulate flickered in his eyes; he could not determine whether the figure before him, Zhao Pei, could still be considered alive. Apart from its terrifying, zombie-like appearance, it seemed to possess many human traits. 0

"What do you want?" Lin Yi's voice trembled slightly. He wanted desperately to kill this terrifying undead creature, but he hesitated, unsure if Zhao Pei was truly dead. They had once been friends, and he did not want to resort to a deadly confrontation. 0

"Alive..." the other party murmured softly, struggling to form words. 0

"We want to live too. Can you let us pass?" Before Lin Yi could speak up, Pachy interjected. 0

Zhao Pei shook its head and pointed a bony, grayish finger at the vehicles behind Lin Yi, uttering a single word: "Die!" 0

It was a powerful declaration, but no one doubted Zhao Pei's capability; it had just demonstrated its strength with movements as swift as a shadow and as forceful as steel. 0

Suddenly, three gleaming blades appeared around Zhao Pei like phantoms. Before anyone could react with a gasp, the blades sliced through the air with thunderous speed. The three knives effectively locked down all escape routes for Zhao Pei; no matter which direction it chose to flee, it would inevitably face the threat of a blade. 0

A sense of relief washed over everyone as they secretly celebrated the possibility of defeating this formidable foe. Lin Yi felt a surge of pride in his quick reflexes; although he did not wish to fight against his former friend, he understood that when two sides were irreconcilable, dwelling on such matters could lead to death. After more than a month of fighting alongside his teammates, he had developed a certain synergy with them. So when Zhao Pei threatened to kill everyone except Lin Yi and Squad, he immediately signaled Douglas to strike. Douglas had been ready for action; he knew that there was no room for games on the battlefield. 0

The blades reflected dazzling light, causing everyone to instinctively squint. However, the brilliance lasted only a moment before fading away, allowing them to open their eyes and see what had become of the terrifying undead creature. 0

Nothingness greeted them; they saw only the patchy ground covered in weeds and sparse vegetation. It was as if the undead had never existed at all—everything that had just transpired felt like an illusion. Yet the burning truck nearby served as a stark reminder that it was all too real. 0

"Did that blade really cut someone out of existence?" someone muttered under their breath, but their words lacked conviction. There was no weapon in this world capable of erasing someone instantly; the only explanation was that it had missed entirely. 0

The elite soldiers inside the truck peered through firing ports, curious about where the undead had gone. Suddenly, the entire convoy jolted violently; the vehicle lifted off the ground at an impossible angle. Several soldiers were caught off guard by this unexpected tremor and slammed into the ceiling of the cabin. 0

The sounds of thuds and screams intertwined within the vehicle as those who fell tried to regain their footing. To their horror, they realized that the cabin was tilting completely; even holding onto their seats offered no stability. Finally, when one soldier managed to stand up, he noticed that the ground was receding at a terrifying speed. 0

"The vehicle is flying!" he shouted in panic upon realizing the truth. They were not in a vehicle equipped for flight; now that it was airborne, they all understood without needing to think about how dire the consequences would be. 0

The entire carriage was suddenly engulfed in panic, their emotions akin to those of people facing an imminent plane crash. However, that thought quickly faded as another massive object soared up from the ground just before gravity could pull their vehicle down. 0

Indeed, it was another Big Truck racing towards the first airborne vehicle at the same astonishing speed. After a moment of shock, all the soldiers felt like crying. The two trucks approached each other like two planets on a collision course; if they crashed, the soldiers inside would likely not even have intact bodies left. 0

“Boom!” A thunderous roar echoed through the air. Lin Yi and his team were not shaken by the sound but rather by the sight of a figure nearby lifting a third truck into the air. 0

The two trucks colliding in mid-air had transformed into a raging fireball, with debris raining down from above—whether it was car parts or the remains of soldiers, no one could tell. 0

“Quick, shoot!” Lin Yi shouted urgently. He knew that if Douglas's ambush on Zhao Pei failed, they would face Zhao Pei's unpredictable wrath. But he never expected Zhao Pei's actions to be so unexpected; in an instant, he had thrown both trucks into the sky to collide. 0

The explosion continued to roar as Lin Yi's team began to react and fire their weapons. But it was too late; Zhao Pei was too fast. In just a second, he had hurled the trucks into the air. As Lin Yi's death rays barely grazed past him, Zhao Pei had already vanished from sight. 0

“Get out! Get out now!” Lin Yi yelled hoarsely at those in the fourth vehicle. He did not want to see them die in such a suffocating manner, crashing into their own people without even knowing who the enemy was. 0

What Lin Yi did was obviously futile; he could only watch helplessly as Zhao Pei lifted the fourth vehicle into the air. At that moment, aside from Lin Yi's team, all other vehicles had been destroyed—everyone else was wiped out. 0

The shooting continued, but it could not stop Zhao Pei's actions. In the blink of an eye, that vehicle’s fate was sealed—it would be utterly annihilated. 0

Just when Lin Yi and his team thought things were beyond saving, they were astonished to see that Zhao Pei did not continue his assault but instead threw the vehicle down and rapidly retreated. 0

Lin Yi was bewildered by this turn of events. Suddenly, Douglas shouted in terror, “It's missiles! So many missiles are coming!” 0

The piercing sound of sonic booms followed Douglas's exclamation like a whistling sword, sending chills down everyone's spines. Pachy looked at the rapidly approaching missiles, his face drained of color. 0

“Run! That’s the so-called fastest missile in existence—the Spear of God!” Pachy urged everyone to get in their vehicles and escape without further explanation. Although these tracking missiles were not aimed directly at them, the shockwaves from their explosions would be enough to cause serious harm. 0

Only a few people got off the vehicle. Lin Yi's speed had reached a level that ordinary people could hardly match. After Pachy's exclamation, Lin Yi leaped into the carriage in the blink of an eye, followed closely by the others who jumped in as well. Flower Cannon, with one hand on his gun and the other gripping the carriage, vaulted onto the roof. Paul was already prepared and instantly started the truck. The vehicle took off like a wild horse, racing forward. 0

Lin Yi tightly grasped the handrail inside the carriage, watching the scene outside through the shooting holes. The first "Spear of God" had already exploded, and through the billowing flames, he could vaguely see a figure rushing out from the inferno. Lin Yi recognized it as Zhao Pei; no matter how fast he was, facing the targeting of the "Spear of God," he was still walking a tightrope high above, at risk of falling at any moment. 0

Just when Lin Yi thought Zhao Pei was doomed this time, he suddenly noticed a dark cloud-like mass rapidly approaching in the distance, and Zhao Pei was speeding toward that direction. 0

"It's a Horde!" Douglas exclaimed. His senses were sharp; even from such a distance, he could clearly feel the unique ferocity emanating from the zombies. 0

"It seems he might escape again," Lin Yi said with a complex emotion before falling silent. 0

They had already distanced themselves significantly from Zhao Pei. Even if the "Spear of God" exploded around him, it wouldn't harm them; after all, "Spear of God" was just a conventional missile. 0

"The helicopter is here! We're saved!" Paul shouted from the driver's seat. His cockpit had a message-receiving function, though it only passively received information. 0

Everyone let out a long sigh of relief upon hearing this; they finally didn't have to run anymore. Lin Yi stood at the door of the carriage, looking at the sky outside where dozens of helicopters were circling above. The artillery on their fronts was crazily firing at the approaching Horde. Occasionally, missiles shot out from the helicopters toward a flickering shadow on the ground. 0

Though the explosions were still deafening, they no longer had the heart to appreciate them; they only hoped to leave this cursed place soon and find somewhere to rest. It had been over ten minutes since Jimmy was injured, but no one knew how much longer he could hold on. Lin Yi didn't want to see his teammate die like this, so he fought desperately each time; however, many things didn’t yield good results just because one tried hard. 0

Time was slipping away quickly, and the Horde was closing in at a terrifying speed. Lin Yi and his group stopped the vehicle to wait for the helicopter to land; they needed to return to the city as soon as possible. 0
