Every man, in his most passionate years, always dreams of being the bravest soldier, wielding the most dazzling weapons, showcasing his valor on the battlefield. So when Lin Yi saw the walls inside lined with rows of cutting-edge super weapons, his heart raced with excitement like a child receiving his favorite toy. No matter how he looked at them, he felt he could never get enough; each cool weapon seemed to draw him in like a magnet.
"Hey, can you be a bit more composed?" Li Qiweng couldn't bear to watch any longer and gently tugged at Lin Yi's sleeve.
Lin Yi snapped out of his trance, wiping away the drool that had escaped from the corner of his mouth. Yet even so, his eyes remained glued to those weapons. All around him were various lengths of shiny silver Laser Guns, their metallic texture utterly captivating.
"It seems Mr. Lin Yi is quite fond of these weapons; truly, we are too," Taichi said, his face showing reluctance as if Lin Yi was about to snatch away his most beloved weapon.
Lin Yi nodded vigorously, nearly bumping his head against the glass of the display case. It wasn't that he had never seen grand sights before; it was just that this place was a paradise for every passionate man.
"The QH Series has developed to its fourth generation since it began ten years ago; however, most units currently use the third generation. I believe you all noticed the soldiers outside when you came in," Taichi said as he took out a QH Laser Gun from the display case, gently caressing it as if it were a cherished lover.
"Is this really the fourth generation?" Lin Yi asked, eyeing the lighter Laser Gun in Taichi's hand, genuinely wishing he could snatch it away and play with it.
Taichi nodded and continued, "The command center has decided to equip all of you with these Laser Guns and will also provide Combat Suits."
"That's great! When can we get our hands on these weapons?" Lin Yi struggled to suppress his excitement but feared that they might change their minds.
Though they sensed something was off, they figured there was no reason for the other party to deceive them. Lin Yi's gaze on those weapons grew increasingly fervent as if he already held them in his hands.
"Mr. Lin, don't rush. Our cooperation journey is long; providing you with more resources in the future is certainly possible," Taichi said as he placed the QH Laser Gun back into the display case and pulled out another larger Laser Gun. "This is the latest model with even greater power. The previous type of Laser Gun had sufficient lethality for individual use, but against Giant Zombies, this one is necessary; one shot can melt half of their head!"
Listening to Taichi's introduction sent chills down Lin Yi's spine, yet he couldn't help but love these weapons even more. If only they had such cool equipment earlier, their previous battles wouldn't have been so desperate!
"As long as you can all be equipped with these weapons, given your combat capabilities, I believe even facing ten thousand Zombies won't be an issue for you!" Taichi was excited as if Lin Yi and his team had already charged through a sea of enemies.
"I have a question: how many shots can this new type of Laser Gun support?" Pachy asked calmly, not as excited as Lin Yi but raising a crucial point.
"Each energy cell can support about one thousand shots for the standard Laser Gun, while the larger version can support three hundred shots according to recent tests." Taichi paused for a moment but quickly regained his composure.
"Well, that's quite impressive! If we all have this kind of firearm, theoretically we could eliminate tens of thousands of Zombies!" The more Lin Yi thought about it, the more excited he became; he wished he could equip these weapons immediately and go hunt down ten thousand Zombies to vent the frustration from having to flee before.
"Then let's arrange for the weapons to be delivered to your residence. Of course, we will also provide each person with two sets of Combat Suits and two short knives for self-defense," Taichi said with a charming smile, resembling a salesman promoting his products.
Lin Yi nodded anxiously, as if he were watching a beautiful woman in sheer fabric gracefully approaching him. All his restrained emotions were cast aside; only a fool would ponder over the complexities of right and wrong at such a moment!
"Alright, let's sign an agreement!" Taichi said, seeing that Lin Yi had already nodded, and he no longer sought anyone else's opinion.
Taichi quickly retrieved a thick stack of documents from his desk. These papers were made with the most advanced technology, resistant to fire and water, and would not rot even after long-term storage.
Looking at the hefty pile of documents, Lin Yi couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. It seemed that acquiring these weapons wouldn't be as simple as he had hoped.
"What are these documents? Why do I need to sign them?" Lin Yi felt uneasy. Although he liked the weapons, he wasn't about to casually sign something that might lead to trouble.
"Mr. Lin, with such a large batch of advanced weapons being given to you, it's only natural that you sign a confidentiality agreement. If you misuse these weapons later on, we can use this document to apply for a global manhunt against you," Taichi explained simply while handing Lin Yi a pen.
"Is there just one rule in this entire stack of paper?" Lin Yi hesitated and did not take the pen from Taichi.
"Mr. Lin, at this point in time, do we really need to harm you? Regardless, these weapons will eventually end up in your hands, and you won't suffer any losses. As for the rules you've mentioned, as long as you can adhere to the first one, the other details aren't important."
Seeing Taichi's impatience, Lin Yi grew concerned that the other party might backtrack. He quickly skimmed through the documents and found they were indeed mostly about confidentiality and security regulations. After that brief review, he signed his name without much hesitation. Taichi nodded in satisfaction when he saw Lin Yi had signed. He carefully took the signed document and handed one copy to Lin Yi while locking the other into a metal cabinet embedded in the wall.
"Alright everyone, let's head to your residence now; we'll deliver it right to your door!" Taichi clapped his hands in satisfaction and made a brief communication with the outside world before signaling for Lin Yi and the others to follow him out.
Inside a heavily guarded building in the city, an elderly man with graying hair and age spots on his face was staring intently at a holographic image before him. Beside him stood a middle-aged woman in her fifties, respectfully waiting.
"Sir, is it appropriate for us to give them this batch of weapons?" the middle-aged woman suddenly asked.
"No matter how good the weapons are, they still need someone to operate them. You've seen their combat videos; it's not something ordinary people can achieve. I believe the rumors are true; Lion City must have developed that kind of technology for practical use," the man said while stroking his old cat beside him, seeking some warmth. Years of open and covert struggles had left him weary; yet he knew he had to keep moving forward—he could not allow himself to give up now.
"But we don't have many of these weapons either; why not equip our soldiers?" The middle-aged woman seemed reluctant and spoke urgently.
"They're not giving them away for free. Do you really think there's such a thing as a free lunch?" The old man stood up, his long-held authority rising with his posture. At that moment, he was no longer an aging relic but a leader commanding thousands.
Lin Yi sat in the car happily returning home, followed closely by a military vehicle carrying the laser weapons obtained from this brief negotiation along with some so-called gifts.
"Something feels off. Are we being played?" Li Qiweng couldn't easily trust the sudden stroke of good luck, but Lin Yi was beaming with excitement, so she didn't want to dampen the mood.
"It's fine. Those without shoes aren't afraid of those with them. What can they possibly gain from us?" Lin Yi was quite carefree. In his mind, the worst that could happen was that they would be asked to help deal with some Zombies; what else could they do?
The two vehicles quickly arrived at the place where Lin Yi and the others were staying. Pachy had already notified everyone through the vehicle's intercom to come out and help carry the weapons. So, before the car had even come to a complete stop, Witerson II lunged forward like a madman.
Taichi followed closely behind, grinning as he watched the group excitedly clamoring to see the latest weapons. He took the lead along with two other soldiers, unloading box after box filled with weapons. Of course, since the weapons were still classified, everyone suppressed their curiosity and carried the boxes inside together.
The boxes were made of alloy and had self-destruct features, making them quite valuable. It was easy to imagine that the contents were equally precious. Taichi wasted no time; as soon as they entered, he quickly used a special key to unlock each box. There were fifteen boxes of standard HQ04s, each containing two Laser Guns, totaling thirty HQ04s. Additionally, there were five boxes of modified large HQ04Gs, each containing one gun. Each person also received two sets of Combat Suits and two finely crafted short knives stored in two large boxes.
Everyone was too eager to listen to Taichi's introductions and immediately began assembling their Laser Guns according to the manual. They hurried back to their rooms to put on their new Combat Suits and equip their short knives.
The light silver Combat Suits shimmered on everyone, filling the room with a dazzling glow. The Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps, now uniformly equipped, resembled a well-trained army, especially with each member holding a Laser Gun. In an instant, a fierce and powerful lion was born right there.
"Attention!" Witerson II shouted enthusiastically, and everyone snapped into formation, giving Lin Yi—who stood there in shock—a standard military salute.
Lin Yi felt a rush of adrenaline and excitement; he didn't know how to respond but managed to return a salute to everyone.
"Alright, since you all love the gear we've provided so much, let's settle up on the costs!" Taichi's voice suddenly cut through the moment inappropriately.
