Many times, life does not offer us many surprises, but it can occasionally provide us with a scare. Whenever faced with these "scares," one feels an unusual annoyance. However, years later, looking back, those past "scares" become a different kind of experience. 0

Reagan was delighted to see the astonished expressions on those people's faces; he enjoyed bringing shock to others. This feeling was exhilarating, giving him a sense of control over others' lives. 0

"Yes, if you choose to surrender, I will let you go, Commander," Reagan stated his terms. 0

Lin Yi glanced at Slo's expression. He had no real feelings for this Mandray and saw no reason to bring trouble upon himself for someone unrelated. However, Mandray was Slo's superior, so he had to consider his opinion. But whether it was due to the dim light or some other reason, Lin Yi saw no expression on Mandray's face. 0

"You either let us go or we’ll make it quick; it's up to you whether you live or die!" Slo said, rubbing his numb arm from the gunfire, staring intently as he spoke. Everything from the other side was merely a façade; surrendering for Mandray was something only a fool would believe. 0

"I knew you would be stubborn, so I didn't plan to waste my breath on you. You have five minutes to discuss; otherwise, I will kill Mandray right away." Reagan's voice grew closer as he slowly lowered his height. Only then did everyone realize that Mandalay was trapped tightly beneath him, with a glinting dagger pressed against Mandalay's neck. 0

Lin Yi frowned; it seemed the other side genuinely wanted to negotiate, but this made no sense. They were at a disadvantage; if they dragged this out, these dozens of people could collapse at any moment. Although most zombies weren't very strong in combat, even ants could take down an elephant when there were enough of them. 0

"Boss, you were too fierce just now; I estimate they don't have many of those big things left and won't dare to come at you," Flower Cannon increasingly respected Lin Yi now, addressing him with genuine sincerity. 0

"This guy is hiding too deeply, but it's clearly a trap. We definitely can't surrender; our only option now is to find a way to escape," Wu Hao said as he drifted around like a ghost since he had no combat mission. 0

"What plan do you have?" Lin Yi asked casually as he silently assessed his injuries and how long he could hold out. He wondered if he could withstand any negative effects from taking more medicine once the current effects wore off. 0

"Am I someone who likes to boast? Of course I have a plan!" Wu Hao felt a bit displeased at Lin Yi's nonchalance. 0

"What?" Lin Yi shouted but lowered his voice when he noticed everyone around him looking at him: "Quickly tell me how we can escape. Are there superheroes in our team?" 0

"Dream on; soon you'll witness a miracle!" Wu Hao rolled his eyes at Lin Yi but decided not to care about whether Lin Yi noticed or not; he needed to vent his emotions immediately. 0

Although Lin Yi felt anxious, he wasn't someone who lacked composure. He knew Wu Hao had a plan while he himself did not; this made him somewhat anxious yet still able to maintain control. 0

Slo noticed Lin Yi's fluctuating tone and sensed something was wrong, quickly squeezing over. 0

"Are you preparing to surrender?" Slo's tone dripped with sarcasm, as if Lin Yi and the others had already become shameful surrenderers. 0

Lin Yi looked at Slo's disdainful expression and felt a surge of anger. This guy hadn't been so righteous when he fled earlier; now he spoke with such moral authority. 0

"Why should we surrender? Even if we wanted to, we'd need someone of equal standing!" Lin Yi emphasized the last word loudly, particularly stressing "someone." He wasn't one who could easily hide his emotions; despite trying hard to control himself, it was clear that he was in a bad mood. This stemmed from both Reagan's unwarranted betrayal and Slo's cowardly retreat. 0

Slo merely nodded; his previously calm expression seemed slightly off. Both sides harbored their own agendas and would never truly trust one another. 0

As Lin Yi prepared to cherish this brief moment of "rest" before continuing the fight, someone rushed over from the helicopter, panic written all over their face. 0

"Yi Ge, something's wrong!" Reiko exclaimed, her voice trembling with emotion. Perhaps too agitated, her rounded chest rose and fell rapidly, and her flushed cheeks made her look particularly alluring. 0

"Ah, what happened?" Lin Yi momentarily lost focus, cursing himself for being so weak-willed before putting on a serious expression as he looked at the still enticing Aoling Er. 0

"This time it’s definitely real. I can feel it—there's a great danger approaching!" Reiko's voice was filled with urgency, each word seeming to be forced out from her throat. 0

Lin Yi felt a sudden jolt in his heart. He believed in Aoling Er's abilities. Although he didn't fully understand how her mysterious foresight worked, she had indeed been able to predict danger. While Lin Yi often came across as a bit foolish, that didn’t mean he was an idiot. Hearing Aoling Er's warning made him instantly think of Reagan's schemes. He wasn’t looking for them to surrender; he was stalling for time! 0

"Reagan, is this how you plan to wipe us out?" Once Lin Yi connected the dots, he immediately became aware of his own peril. 0

With a swift motion, a cold glint flashed as he drew his Silver Soul, pointing it toward Reagan hovering above. 0

Although everyone was still unclear about Lin Yi's intentions, there was no avoiding another battle. They all raised their weapons, waiting for Lin Yi's command. Unbeknownst to them, they were increasingly placing their trust in Lin Yi as their Captain. 0

"Haha, now you know it's too late!" Reagan's arrogant laughter echoed from the sky. 0

"Ah~" Just after Reagan finished laughing, a scream pierced the air from above. 0

This was bad; he had thrown Mandray down! Lin Yi reacted instantly but realized that Mandray was falling right into the midst of the Zombie horde. If Lin Yi charged in to save him, he would have to go through the sea of Zombies. By the time he reached Mandray, it would already be too late. Even if Mandray survived the fall, those bloodthirsty monsters would devour him completely. 0

As Lin Yi closed his eyes, unable to bear witnessing such a tragic scene unfold, a chorus of gasps erupted around him as if something incredible had happened. 0

Lin Yi quickly opened his eyes and saw that Mandray had not fallen; someone was tightly gripping his armpits from behind. 0

"Reagan!" Ika gasped in shock, feeling a strong sense of familiarity toward this boy of mixed Caucasian descent. 0

"My son, why didn’t you listen to your father and stay put?" Reagan’s voice was surprisingly gentle, completely devoid of its earlier arrogance. 0

"You killed Mom, didn’t you?" The boy didn’t respond to Reagan but instead pulled Mandray toward Lin Yi and the others. No matter what happened now, he was among humans. He didn’t want to be with that father who had allied with Zombies and lost all humanity. 0

"No, son! She’s different from us; she can’t understand our cause!" Reagan seemed to be desperately trying to explain something, but everything sounded so pale and powerless. 0

"You killed Mom; I don’t want to be your son anymore." The boy, not yet ten years old, was unusually resolute and ignored Reagan’s desperate pleas. 0

"Enough! Reagan, you’ve lost everyone’s support. If you surrender now, we might spare your life!" Witerson II raised his weapon high in search of Reagan’s exact position in the air. 0

"Really? Don't you think the real show is just beginning?" Reagan laughed arrogantly once again, but his voice grew fainter. 0

Just as Reagan finished speaking, Lin Yi saw a scene that made his legs go weak. He spotted at least a hundred Giant Zombies gathered behind the ordinary Zombies, lined up like an intimidating army. 0

"Quick, prepare the artillery!" Slo's voice suddenly became extremely shrill, piercing through the air like a duck's quack. He had seen it too, and he felt the overwhelming despair that was impossible to ignore. 0

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" The professional soldiers displayed their combat prowess; before Slo's words had even settled, the artillery roared to life! 0

"Give me a weapon!" Mandray shouted at a nearby soldier, who instinctively handed over his large blade. 0

"Kill!" After Mandray let out a powerful cry of "kill," he was the first to charge forward. Though his hair was graying and he was well past fifty, his courage remained youthful, and his temper was still fiery. He had been controlled for far too long, and now the entire Golden Card Castle was on the brink of collapse. He yearned for freedom, not just for survival; he wanted to take down the mastermind behind it all! 0

With their commander charging out, the soldiers naturally wouldn't back down. Even if they wanted to flee, where could they escape to? Fighting fiercely might offer them a chance at survival. 0

"Stay calm! I'll go help them!" Just as Lin Yi felt his own blood boiling and prepared to lead everyone into a grand act of bravery, Wu Hao pulled him back and informed him to prepare to retreat in one minute. Although Lin Yi didn't know what Wu Hao had planned, he had no choice but to suppress his urge to be the vanguard. 0

However, Lin Yi thought to take advantage of the remaining effects of the potion and kill a few Giant Zombies. The other members of the Mercenary group were also engaged in fighting off Zombies, but since Lin Yi had decided not to act impulsively, he refrained from rushing to the front lines. If he were surrounded by Zombies, escaping would be impossible. 0
