Gu Hai had actually noticed the boat long ago, but it was too small, accommodating at most twenty people, while their group still had over thirty. The life jackets were stored in the cabin, and to retrieve them, they would first have to get past the Zombies. He had always considered himself a man of loyalty, and now that they were escaping, he knew some would not make it out. He did not want to leave anyone behind. 0

Just as Gu Hai was lost in thought, a sudden, frantic growl echoed in his ears, followed by a sharp pain in his shoulder. True to his reputation as the head of this unruly band of Mercenaries, he endured the pain and swiftly snapped the attacker's neck. 0

At that moment, everyone realized that the person who had just been bitten by Ruan Hei was now alive again and had lunged at Gu Hai. They had been careless and forgotten that someone was already infected with the Zombie Virus, and now Gu Hai had also been bitten. 0

"Boss!" Flower Cannon called out to Gu Hai, his voice trembling involuntarily. 0

"I'm fine!" Gu Hai touched the blood on his neck and found that the wound wasn't very deep. 0

"Alright, now's our chance. Lower the boat; let the women and young ones go first to find help. We'll stay back to hold them off!" Gu Hai suppressed his rising agitation and immediately issued orders. 0

"Brother Hai," Hai approached Gu Hai with concern. At twenty years old, he still bore a youthful innocence, and his underdeveloped physique made him appear fragile among the men. 0

"I'm fine. You and Jiao Jiao take everyone and go. We'll catch up soon," Gu Hai said as he heard distant roars approaching; it seemed the hellish demons below were about to come up. 0

Hai and Jiao Jiao wanted to say something more, but Gu Hai interrupted them: "Yellow-Toothed Man, you go with them!" 0

"What do you mean by looking down on me?" Yellow-Toothed Man replied, holding a submachine gun in one hand and a cigarette in his mouth, looking quite manly. However, his tone was filled with despair that tugged at the heartstrings. 0

"Old Ruan, I owe it to Hei; you should go first!" 0

"I’m going to avenge Hei!" 0

Gu Hai ignored Yellow-Toothed Man and looked around at everyone: "Brothers, I couldn't provide you with a good life but brought you into this hellhole instead. I'm sorry for that. Now I need a few people to stay behind with me; the rest can leave first. If we're lucky, we can all escape. If not, at least we’ll die together." 0

Faced with life and death, Gu Hai couldn't force anyone to take such a great risk with him; after all, living was the most important thing for everyone. Fortunately, members of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group did not disappoint him; several who had followed Gu Hai for a long time voluntarily indicated they would stay behind, including Yellow-Toothed Man. 0

"Alright, you all quickly lower the boat; take as many as you can. Those who leave should leave their ammunition behind; we will do our best to buy more time." Gu Hai glanced around at his Brothers, realizing that this might be the last stand for the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group, and a sense of gloom settled in his heart. 0

Lin Yi's only thought was to escape as quickly as possible. So when he heard Gu Hai say to take as many as they could, he gestured for Wu Hao to follow him toward the boat. After all, they were still lost in the vast ocean, and without a boat, swimming to the Eastern African Coast was impossible. 0

"You two, no matter what, stay behind. If it weren't for you, our brothers wouldn't be in this predicament," Gu Hai's cold and ruthless voice suddenly rang out. At that moment, everyone remembered that these two were indeed the culprits. 0

"Brother, we're victims too!" Lin Yi exclaimed, feeling a jolt of fear. However, at this life-and-death moment, despite his hatred for Gu Hai, he quickly put on a look of grievance, wanting at least to align himself with the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group. 0

"Let me kill those two; avenge our fallen Brothers!" This was Jiao Jiao speaking about Brother Bai. True to his name, he was indeed very pale. 0

"Let them join us in buying time for the other Brothers. If we can survive, we shouldn't be so calculative; they might have been harmed just like us," Gu Hai replied calmly. He understood that staying composed was the best way to face the crisis. 0

Da Kui followed Gu Hai's lead and handed a gun each to Lin Yi and Wu Hao. Although they had never used real guns before, they had at least played with replicas. Lin Yi and Wu Hao understood that this was a desperate situation where their choices were no longer theirs to make. 0

Just as everyone was talking, another Zombie crawled out from the doorway. Gu Hai and the others immediately began shooting at the Zombie that had popped its head out. The rest of the group methodically lowered the boat and began pulling themselves up onto it one by one. 0

Fortunately, although there were many of these undead creatures, they seemed devoid of intelligence and kept emerging from a single exit. The group was now prepared; unlike before when they were panicked, they could now calmly assess their current situation. However, their biggest crisis was that ammunition was running low; their earlier frantic shooting had already consumed a significant amount of bullets. Even though they were now firing with precision shots, the Zombies kept coming like locusts. 0

"Boss, we're in big trouble this time!" Da Kui's dark face was filled with anger. They had been holding off for half an hour, but it seemed like the Zombies were endless; the deck was littered with corpses of Zombies that had been shot in the head. 0

"I saw them putting gold into the warehouse; how could this happen?" Gu Hai wasn't foolish; he knew that seeing their bounty would bring peace of mind. 0

"The bounty should still be inside; they must have done something inside which is why we are facing these damned creatures." 0

"They never had good intentions from the start; these two seem to be heavily involved in this matter." Gu Hai exhaled a puff of smoke. "Go find them and bring them here." 0

Lin Yi was chatting casually with Wu Hao. Although they were in a perilous situation, things were still under control. Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a jolt in his shoulder, as if he had been struck by a heavy object. He turned his head instinctively and found it was Da Kui. 0

"Boss, what can I do for you?" Lin Yi said, noticing the fierce look on Da Kui's face, as if he wanted to swallow him whole. Immediately, he adopted a fawning demeanor. Wu Hao, observing this expression, couldn't help but shift his stance, instinctively creating some distance between them. 0

Da Kui frowned slightly, showing his disdain. "Our leader is looking for you." 0

Lin Yi realized that this was the turning point of the situation. Without waiting for Da Kui to say anything more, he headed towards Gu Hai. Although zombies kept crawling out from the entrance, there was only one exit, and everyone managed to hold them off for now. When Gu Hai saw Lin Yi approaching, he put down his weapon. "What’s going on?" 0

"I don't know exactly what's happening, but these creatures must have escaped from our laboratory. Since you were sent here to kill me, you should know that I'm also a victim. What we need to do now is eliminate these zombies as quickly as possible; otherwise, it will be a disaster!" Lin Yi felt his mind was in chaos. Even though he wanted to analyze the situation carefully, the immediate crisis took precedence. 0

Gu Hai casually dispatched a zombie and lit a cigarette, blowing out a smoke ring. "You guys are a bunch of lunatics. Instead of doing something productive, you like to mess around with things I can't understand, and in the end, I have to clean up your mess!" 0

Hearing Gu Hai's words, everyone thought their boss was about to take out Lin Yi and Wu Hao. They all aimed their guns at the two of them, waiting for Gu Hai's final command to turn them into Swiss cheese. 0

"Please spare me!" A shrill voice suddenly pierced through the air, followed by a thud as someone knelt down. 0

It was Wu Hao who had sensed the murderous intent from the crowd. In a moment of life and death, he cast aside his dignity and begged for mercy. Lin Yi was taken aback by Wu Hao's sudden action and felt uneasy. He knew Wu Hao's skills; his desperate plea indicated that their opponents were indeed serious about killing them. Just as Lin Yi contemplated whether he should also kneel in humiliation now and seek revenge later, someone shouted from the side: "Boss, the ship is about to dock!" 0

Gu Hai glanced into the distance and indeed saw the outline of the Eastern African Coast approaching; it seemed they could hold on for just a little longer. 0

"Brothers, hang in there! Once we reach shore, we'll be safe!" Although Gu Hai wanted nothing more than to jump into the sea immediately, the gleaming gold at the bottom of the ship made him reluctant to give up without a fight. 0

"Boss, we’re running low on ammunition; we’ll have to retreat in five minutes at most," Flower Cannon said while glancing at his magazine and shrugging his seemingly frail shoulders. 0

"Forget about that! The ship isn’t far from shore now; if it comes down to it, we can always jump into the sea! This distance won’t drown us!" Gu Hai tossed away his cigarette butt and resumed shooting without showing any emotion. 0

Lin Yi and Wu Hao could not afford to relax either. Although they had just experienced a moment of embarrassment, dwelling on it now would only be a waste of time! The relentless Zombies had dulled everyone's nerves, making this feel like an endless game that was becoming increasingly tedious. 0

The twilight had completely enveloped the sea, and the once mischievous stars were nowhere to be seen, hiding away from the world. Dark clouds slowly gathered over the ocean, signaling that a storm was imminent. 0

"Boss! I'm out of bullets!" Brother Bai was the first to shout. 0

It was as if a Multi-Bone Domino was toppling over; once Brother Bai cried out, one after another, the others reported their own ammunition running dry. 0

"Everyone, jump into the sea to escape!" Gu Hai commanded while shooting. At this moment, all he could do was provide cover for his teammates who had fought alongside him. 0

No one hesitated; this was the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group's style. The boss always covered for everyone in the most critical moments. This was also why Gu Hai had maintained such respect within the Mercenary group over the years. 0

Taking advantage of the dark night where one could barely see their hand in front of their face, Lin Yi and Wu Hao exchanged knowing glances. They shouted together, attacking the evil forces while moving closer to the edge of the ship. 0

Watching as his teammates quickly slid down using ropes, Da Kui felt relieved and turned back to Gu Hai. "Boss, you go first this time; I'll hold them off!" 0

"You..." Gu Hai was about to say something when suddenly his expression changed. 0

At that moment, Da Kui noticed something was off with Gu Hai's demeanor. Just as he prepared to speak, Gu Hai's eyes rapidly turned blood red, and his mouth opened at an impossible angle, resembling a beast as he lunged toward the bewildered Da Kui... 0
