"What... what should we do?" she asked, trembling.
I took her hand. "Trust me, I'll figure something out. Right now, we need to find A Qiang and discuss our strategy."
We quietly contacted A Qiang and met in a secluded corner. I explained the situation to him, and his expression turned serious.
"We don't have much time," A Qiang said. "I've gathered some evidence of the boss's crimes. If we can leak this information, it might attract the police's attention."
Just then, Shento suddenly appeared behind us. "What are you plotting?"
We jumped in surprise but quickly regained our composure. I decided to be honest and told Shento about the boss's threats.
After listening, Shento gave a wry smile. "It seems the old man can no longer hold back. Well then, let's take action ahead of schedule."
He turned to A Qiang. "How much evidence do you have?"
A Qiang hesitated for a moment but eventually revealed the truth. Shento nodded. "Good. Now, I need you both to cooperate with me and put on a show."
In the following days, we followed Shento's instructions and deliberately created chaos. We spread rumors and sowed discord, plunging the entire organization into a strange atmosphere of tension.
Meanwhile, I had to carefully handle the boss's inquiries. I cautiously leaked some trivial information, trying to gain his trust.
Finally, on a stormy night, Shento gave us our final instructions: "Tonight, everything will come to light."
We followed the plan and infiltrated the surveillance room. A Qiang skillfully hacked into the system, shutting down all the cameras. Meanwhile, Xiao Yu was responsible for diverting most of the guards.
Shento and I headed straight for the boss's office. However, when we pushed the door open, we found the office empty.
"What’s going on?" I asked in surprise.
Shento's expression suddenly darkened. "It seems we have a traitor among us."
Just then, the sound of police sirens grew louder in the distance. My heart sank—had the police arrived? But who called them?
Shento quickly made a decision. "The plan has changed. You all need to escape immediately; I'll draw their attention."
I grabbed Shento, urgently asking, "How could the police come so suddenly? Did you call them?"
Shento gave a wry smile and said softly, "Zhao Lin, I haven't told you the truth all along. I'm an undercover agent for Interpol, and I've been infiltrating for years just for this moment. The chaos you created gave me the opportunity to finally send out all the evidence."
I stared at him in shock, momentarily at a loss for words.
Shento patted my shoulder. "There's no time to explain; you need to go now. Maybe we'll meet again in the future."
I wanted to say something more, but Shento was already pushing me toward the back door. After a hurried farewell, Xiao Yu, A Qiang, and I took advantage of the chaos and ran toward freedom.
Behind us, gunfire and shouts echoed. I had no idea what would happen to Shento or the boss, nor did I know what awaited us. All I knew was that we had finally escaped that evil prison.
However, when we ran to the riverbank, ready to escape by boat, a familiar figure blocked our path.
It was Zhang Hai.
He held a gun in his hand, and a cruel glint shone in his eyes. "Thinking of running? It's not that easy!"
