I was brought into a spacious office, the air thick with the rich scent of cigars. A middle-aged man sat on a leather sofa, leisurely smoking a cigar. I immediately re A Li zed that this was the elusive "Boss" who was known to be both feared and respected. 0

The Boss had a robust build, with solid muscles subtly visible beneath his suit. A gruesome scar ran from the corner of his left eye down to the corner of his mouth, adding an intimidating edge to his appearance. However, what stood out most were his eyes—deep and cold, as if they could see right through to one's soul. 0

On his desk sat a golden Buddha statue, creating a bizarre contrast with the room's luxurious atmosphere. When he spoke, his voice was low and hoarse, carrying an undeniable authority. 0

I noticed that the ring finger on his right hand was missing a segment; whether it was an old injury or a mark of street code, I couldn't tell. Though he appeared calm, I could sense a dangerous aura emanating from him. This was a battle-hardened figure; for him, life and death were likely just a thought away. 0

"Sit," the Boss gestured for me to take a seat, his voice deep and gravelly. 0

I nervously sat across from him, feeling like fish on a chopping block. The Boss looked at me intently before suddenly laughing. "Zhao Lin, right? I've heard you've been quite active lately." 0

My heart raced as I struggled to maintain my composure. "Boss, I don’t understand what you mean." 0

He slowly exhaled a smoke ring. "Stop playing dumb. I know what you and that Shento scoundrel are up to." 0

My blood seemed to freeze in my veins. It was over; everything was over. I closed my eyes, bracing for the final judgment. 0

However, what the Boss said next took me by surprise: "But I admire your courage and intelligence. So, I've decided to give you a chance." 0

I opened my eyes in disbelief. 0

The Boss continued, "I've wanted to get rid of that traitor Shento for some time now. Now, I want you to be my double agent. Keep working with Shento but report all his actions back to me. If you do well, not only will I let you go free, but I'll also reward you handsomely." 0

My mind raced as I weighed the pros and cons. If I agreed to the boss, I could save my life and perhaps even gain my freedom. But that meant betraying Shento, betraying Xiaoyu and A Qiang. 0

"I need to think it over," I said with difficulty. 0

The boss's gaze turned sharp in an instant. "You have no room for choice. Either accept my proposal or die right now." 0

I took a deep breath, knowing I had no other option. "I accept." 0

The boss nodded in satisfaction. "A smart choice. Now, go back to your work. Remember, I'll be watching you closely." 0

I stumbled out of the office, filled with conflict and fear. What should I do? Betray my friends or risk my life continuing to help Shento? 0

Back at the dormitory, I found Xiaoyu anxiously waiting for me. 0

"Zhao Lin, are you okay?" she asked with concern. "I heard the boss called for you; it scared me to death." 0

Looking into Xiaoyu's innocent eyes, I suddenly made a decision. I couldn't betray her; I couldn't betray our friendship. 0

"Xiaoyu, listen to me," I lowered my voice. "Things have changed. We need to speed up our plan and leave here as soon as possible." 0

I briefly told her about the boss's threat but omitted the part about agreeing to become a double agent. After hearing me, Xiaoyu's face turned pale. 0
