In less than three seconds of contemplation, Lin Yuan decided to go for it; otherwise, how could he justify it to himself?
However, he needed to think of an escape route in advance. If only Mouse One were here, but that was simply impossible. As for Old Cat One, it definitely couldn't bear the responsibility of making a getaway.
Thus, he needed to be more meticulous and strategic, fully leveraging his advantage of being in the shadows.
First, Lin Yuan required a long-range reconnaissance spy device, something akin to a remote-controlled drone. Of course, such outdated methods would never work here, so he had to come up with another plan.
Next, he needed to obtain the overall layout of the research base; only then could he analyze and execute his attack and eventual escape.
Lastly, he had to be ruthless—kill if possible, leave no one behind. Of course, if he encountered an Elite Warrior, it would be wise to retreat early!
With this foundational plan in mind, Lin Yuan immediately returned to the bottommost level of the base. There were many technological products left behind by the former Earth civilization there, such as the Image Music Game System. This system could play music, watch movies, play games, sing karaoke, take selfies, and browse the internet—essentially offering every function imaginable.
He hadn't paid much attention to it before, but now it was perfect for modification.
This Entertainment System was clearly high-end; it was as large as a travel case and had a diamond blue exterior that was genuinely embedded with hundreds of diamonds. By 21st-century standards, it must have been worth hundreds of millions of dollars; however, in the current context, it was utterly useless.
The device didn't require an external power source or cables; it was entirely powered by Centrifugal Stone Energy. All information transmission relied on wireless technology.
Lin Yuan cautiously opened the device. Instantly, a pair of exquisite figures sprang forth and began dancing in mid-air—whether it was a waltz or something else was unclear—but it was certainly captivating. Accompanied by soft music and delicate raindrops, distant leaves swayed gently in the wind amidst a faint mist of rain. It was breathtakingly beautiful and appeared entirely real, though it was all synthesized through virtual light.
Lin Yuan understood this technology somewhat because he had disassembled a similar Entertainment System back at Fortress Base—though that one was far more primitive.
Casually tapping amidst the raindrops on the screen, a massive Virtual Screen appeared before him—five meters high, six meters wide, and eight meters long.
It sounded unbelievable; indeed, it measured eight meters long. This Virtual Screen wasn't just two-dimensional; it was entirely three-dimensional. There was no need for cumbersome gaming helmets or coffin-like gaming pods; one could simply step into this five-meter-high, six-meter-wide, eight-meter-long Virtual Screen to enter a virtual world that felt as real as the physical one.
Without hesitation, Lin Yuan stepped inside. Instantly, he found himself in an entirely different room. If he wished, he could experience snow or see the ocean while enjoying some desert flying—any scenario could be simulated.
In such scenes, watching a movie felt like being right next to the main character; one could even sneakily touch the heroine's chest with guaranteed realism—an essential tool for any avid fan.
The same principle applied when playing games; it would be even more delightful.
But Lin Yuan had no time for leisure. With a flick of his hand, a writing board appeared out of thin air before him. He scribbled down the layout plan for the base.
Although these are Chinese characters, Lin Yuan believed that it would not be a problem in front of this powerful Entertainment System.
Sure enough, within less than a second, a beautiful female voice rang out, "May I ask if all subsequent conversations will be conducted in Chinese?"
Of course, Lin Yuan thought to himself with amusement. This truly was a more advanced Entertainment System, far superior to the one in Fortress Base.
However, before Lin Yuan could bask in his triumph for too long, the entire scene suddenly changed. A stunning woman dressed in a tight outfit and wearing sunglasses appeared before him, holding a very imposing Firestone High-Explosive Shotgun. Her prominent chest and cold demeanor were indeed captivating.
"Hareyu?"
Her voice was melodious, and most importantly, Lin Yuan understood what she said.
But what did it matter?
Lin Yuan knew that this was likely a security program left behind by the previous owner of the Entertainment System. Specifically, it was a form of consciousness from the former owner—a highly advanced anti-theft measure. It required copying the previous owner's various interests, hobbies, behavioral styles, and all memories into this System, essentially replicating the former owner's presence. Moreover, this program could even think simply. In short, it was considered the highest level of firewall in Earth civilization.
Yet this was ineffective against Lin Yuan. He stepped forward and grabbed the woman's shotgun, pointing it at himself and pulling the trigger. Of course, this was not a real shotgun; the bullets fired here were merely akin to antivirus software existing within the System.
Using such a powerful shotgun as antivirus software was indeed ruthless.
However, when this antivirus software touched Lin Yuan's Intellect, it immediately faltered. In less than a second, everything was reversed.
The woman who had been vibrant just a moment ago became dimmed.
"Don't kill me!!"
Just as this program was about to be erased by Lin Yuan's Intellect, it suddenly cried out. This was entirely normal; it did not signify an awakening of artificial intelligence but rather an emotional expression inputted by the previous owner. Nevertheless, it demonstrated that the programmer behind this was quite skilled.
But so what? Was artificial intelligence really that impressive? Hell, my soul could attach itself to a bicycle; wasn't that even more extraordinary?
Thus, Lin Yuan remained unfazed. However, in the next moment, the program suddenly pleaded in Chinese: "Please! I beg you, don't kill me! I can help you search for all the layout and entrances of this base."
At this point, Lin Yuan finally paused. Hmm, this program seemed somewhat interesting. After thinking for a moment, he halted his Intellect's attempt to eliminate the program.
"Don't play tricks; I can kill you anytime!"
Lin Yuan continued to scribble, his writing resembling a spider scuttling across the ground. It was inevitable; he had tarnished the beauty of the characters, but then again, he had never passed a language class!
Fortunately, the program understood him, though it looked back in fear, nodding incessantly. "I dare not! Please believe me! I have been trapped here for thirteen hundred years. Claire has not appeared again, and all external networks have been terminated. There must be some problem. Sir, can you tell me?"
Lin Yuan coldly regarded the program but had no interest in explaining anything to it. Despite its newfound intelligence, there was nothing particularly shocking about that.
After a moment's thought, Lin Yuan continued, "I need to dismantle this System's hardware. You have one choice: reside within this Intelligence Chip. I will provide you with the energy to operate normally. From now on, you are my prisoner. You better pray that you hold some value for me."
Having finished his statement, Lin Yuan pointed to the Intelligence Matrix node on his First Mechanical Arm. This was an Intelligence Chip capable of independently managing the arm's operations and movements. It was no larger than a fingernail, but its internal space was not any smaller than that of the Entertainment System.
"I... I don't have another choice, do I, sir?"
"Sorry, but you won't like it. Hurry up; don't waste my time."
Lin Yuan threatened and then directly connected with the program, throwing it into the Intelligence Matrix node. Of course, he didn't forget to transfer all the data from the Entertainment System—music, movies, everything—into it. To be fair, he still enjoyed human music and aesthetics.
