"Runzhou, what is this place? Why does it feel so eerie and terrifying?" Kang Wanying stood behind Qi Runzhou, glancing around nervously at the surroundings.
"I don't know; it's very strange here. Stay alert," Qi Runzhou said solemnly, carefully taking one step at a time.
Suddenly, countless Zombies emerged from the corner, grotesque and densely packed, swaying and staggering, enough to drive anyone with a fear of crowds into madness.
Qi Runzhou and Kang Wanying were frozen in shock; it felt like they were facing imminent doom. Kang Wanying's face turned pale as she grabbed Qi Runzhou with one hand while clutching her stomach with the other. What should they do? They had to escape; they couldn't die here.
After weighing their options, Qi Runzhou realized they stood no chance against such overwhelming odds. It was a strategic retreat. He took hold of Kang Wanying's hand and began to back away, running in another direction.
As they ran, another large group of Zombies appeared from another corner, still pursuing them relentlessly.
Grinding his teeth, Qi Runzhou urgently pulled Kang Wanying in a different direction. But as they continued to run, yet another wave of Zombies emerged.
With no path ahead, they found themselves facing a high wall—too tall to climb over. The three groups of Zombies had converged, slowly closing in on Qi Runzhou and Kang Wanying.
They had to fight. Waiting for death was not Qi Runzhou's style. He unleashed all his abilities against the Zombies.
Kang Wanying felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. Oh no, please don’t let anything happen to you!
With Qi Runzhou's abilities, he expected at least a large number of them to fall. However, strangely enough, not a single Zombie went down.
His powers seemed to pass through the Zombies as if they were nothing, shooting off into the distance instead.
Qi Runzhou and Kang Wanying were both stunned. What was happening? Were these Zombies fake?
They exchanged glances, and at the same time, they unleashed their Abilities, striking at the horde of Zombies once more. Unsurprisingly, they hit nothing but air. At this point, the Zombies were less than ten steps away from them.
Qi Runzhou was horrified; if even he could be deceived by an illusion, how powerful must the original creator have been? Where had this formidable opponent come from? If this was the case, what future did they have?
While they were still in shock, the Zombies had already approached them. Thinking that perhaps this was also an illusion, Qi Runzhou decided to take a gamble and urged Kang Wanying not to attack.
As they stood still, the Zombies suddenly froze as well, pausing for ten seconds before slowly inching forward. Some of the Zombies even surpassed Qi Runzhou and Kang Wanying. Others stood face to face with them, their grotesque faces devoid of flesh. Even with strong mental fortitude, facing such a horrifying visage made Qi Runzhou feel extremely uncomfortable.
He tightly gripped Kang Wanying's hand, giving her strength and courage, hoping she could remain calm as well. The nerve-wracking and terrifying stares finally seemed to be coming to an end. Just as Qi Runzhou was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he suddenly heard Kang Wanying let out a muffled groan. He turned to see her clutching her stomach as a trickle of blood began to flow down her thigh, winding like a red worm.
This was bad. Just as Qi Runzhou realized things were turning dire, he experienced what it truly meant for things to go from bad to worse. The majority of the Zombies that had been nearing the wall suddenly turned around, their ferocious eyes fixated on Kang Wanying as if they had been provoked. Countless Zombies charged toward her with clear intent.
Qi Runzhou wanted to pull Kang Wanying up and run, but he found that they were truly trapped in the midst of the Zombie horde.
Countless gaping mouths lunged at them, sharp and piercing pain striking deep into his heart.
