At this moment, on the back mountain, Su Ruolan and Qin Zhi Han, along with others, had made their way along a narrow mountain path to the cliffside. They stood there, staring blankly at the sheer drop before them.
"Once we get down this mountain, it will only take about an hour to reach K Base on the highway. I won't see you off; I wish you all good luck," Fengshan said, clasping his fists together with emotion. "Safe travels, and I hope we can meet again in the future."
"Thank you, Brother Fengshan. Take care of yourself too; we will definitely come back to see you," Su Ruolan replied respectfully.
After a heartfelt farewell, they gazed at the towering cliff before them, which was at least a hundred feet high, feeling utterly stunned. The cliff was straightforward; they could see all the way to the bottom from where they stood. Now, they just needed to figure out how to descend safely.
"I've never tried rock climbing before; this looks fun," Jackson Wang said cheerfully, perhaps the least concerned among them.
"This is almost a 90-degree angle; it's really dangerous for everyone to go down like this. One misstep could lead to disaster. Where are we going to find ropes long enough?" Bai Zhen fretted.
"Have you all forgotten that Sister Su has Wood Elemental Ability? With her around, there must be a way," Cheng Xi said, looking up to Su Ruolan with great admiration. He believed that as long as she was present, no problem was insurmountable.
"I'm not that amazing," Su Ruolan replied modestly. "Some of my previous victories were due to luck. How about I go down first to scout the way? If it's safe, then everyone can follow."
"That won't do! We have more than just you with Wood Elemental Ability here! We should brainstorm together," Ma Commander insisted.
"I agree. Those with abilities should conjure some climbing tools, and those without should prepare and check safety measures. We need to find the most efficient route and enhance our safety precautions. I'll go down first to check things out; there's no way we can let a girl do this alone," Qin Zhi Han stated firmly.
"Captain, it might not be appropriate for you to go. Let me handle it," Shilei offered.
"That's enough, I'll go." Qin Zhi Han waved his hand, stopping everyone else's words.
"How about this? I'll conjure up Wood Vine, and you can tie it around yourself. If I can't hold on any longer, I'll pull you back up," Su Ruolan suggested.
"Alright, if I tug on the Wood Vine, you retract your energy. Let's do this." Qin Zhi Han walked to the edge of the cliff, stretching his muscles.
Su Ruolan formed a thick Ability and tightly wrapped it around Qin Zhi Han, slowly lowering him down the cliff.
Qin Zhi Han took careful steps downward—ten meters, zero meters—until he gradually became a small black dot and disappeared from view.
Through the connection with Wood Vine, Su Ruolan knew that Qin Zhi Han was steadily moving down. The distance felt so long. Sweat began to bead on her forehead; after a prolonged output of Ability, she sensed a depletion of strength within her. Feeling fatigued, she took out Spatial Water from her backpack and drank a large gulp, slowly feeling her energy replenish.
Suddenly, Wood Vine shook violently. Had Qin Zhi Han reached the bottom? Su Ruolan wondered.
"Vice Captain Su, the Wood Vine is shaking; you can retract your energy now," Bai Zhen kindly reminded her, thinking she had forgotten.
"Yes, I know. But what if it's just the wind? I'll wait a little longer," Su Ruolan replied seriously as she peered down the cliff, trying hard to catch a glimpse of Qin Zhi Han's figure, but unfortunately saw nothing.
The people nearby couldn't help but admire Su Ruolan; indeed, she was kind and resolute—a trustworthy leader and companion.
Wood Vine began to shake violently again, swaying side to side and pulling up and down. Su Ruolan felt as if someone was tugging at Wood Vine from below. She started to withdraw her strength; this time it truly reached its limit. It was no easy task; her hands began to tremble.
