Mi Hong employed extremely cruel methods against the Yan Tribe. Many people were already ill; although Su Ruolan had improved the water quality, their health had not fully recovered. The arrival of Mi Hong and the G Base personnel caused further suffering, leading to many deaths. The Y Clan Leader and the Elders were locked in the council hall, cut off from the outside world, completely unaware that the Yan Tribe was drowning in blood.
Y Base was a typical stronghold, difficult to attack. If the Yan Tribe had firmly refused entry to Mi Hong and the G Base personnel from the beginning, they would not have fallen so quickly. The key issue was that no one anticipated Mi Hong's cold-heartedness; to uncover the whereabouts of the Huaxia Army, she was willing to disregard human life.
The Yan Tribe was a relatively feudal society, with strong cohesion and obedience among its members. Thus, despite their grief and anger, seeing that the clan leader and Elders did not speak out, everyone silently swallowed their frustrations regarding Su Ruolan and others.
However, when the Government Army severely injured a sixteen-year-old boy who later died, all the Yan Tribe members erupted in anger. They began gathering at the council hall, demanding that the clan leader and Elders come out to meet them. Initially, twenty tribesmen petitioned outside the hall. When they received no response, they sat down in silence at the entrance.
Mi Hong ordered the execution of their leader and drove away the followers. Sun Commander, whose leading troops had been wiped out, was seething with anger. Seeing that no one came forward to claim responsibility for those sitting in protest, he executed five of the oldest individuals on the spot. This act ignited a powder keg; over a hundred more Yan Tribe members gathered to protest, completely blocking access to the council hall.
"What is this fool doing?" Mi Hong expressed her dissatisfaction with the protest. She knew that escalating the situation would not benefit her either. Therefore, she instructed White-Haired Clan Elder to mediate.
"Everyone be quiet; the clan leader is discussing matters inside. I believe there will be a good outcome. Please return home and wait for news peacefully," White-Haired Clan Elder urged. However, after his explanation last night, the crowd did not disperse.
"Believe us? Unless you come with us and explain in detail! You think we can be dismissed with just a few words? That's impossible!" someone shouted from within the crowd. Pushing and shoving ensued as they pressed closer to the entrance.
"Fine, it's just an old man," Sun Commander threatened White-Haired Clan Elder deliberately. "Hey, you come here! Get these refugees sorted out quickly, or watch your head."
"Okay, okay! Military sir, I will go back with them and definitely settle this matter," White-Haired Clan Elder replied hurriedly, bowing and appearing anxious and fawning. "You can rest assured."
"Good. Go ahead. I'll send two men to protect you," Sun Commander gestured slightly as several soldiers followed behind White-Haired Clan Elder.
Accompanied by two soldiers and over a hundred tribesmen present at the scene, White-Haired Clan Elder began explaining things. Although everyone was there, no one understood Yan language. He switched between Chinese and Yan language while trying to convey what was happening quickly. The Government Army personnel did not understand Yan dialects; White-Haired Clan Elder summarized things rapidly without explicitly stating that they were under house arrest, but everyone understood they had lost their freedom.
