The soldiers had never seen a flying wolf that could unleash wind blades as attacks. Some of them were deeply frightened and raised their machine guns, unleashing a barrage of fire at Monet. In mid-air, Monet continuously dodged and weaved, narrowly escaping.
Suddenly, it saw Su Ruolan get hit. Without hesitation, it leaped down to the ground and positioned itself in front of her, baring its teeth and growling fiercely at the soldiers. Monet was furious; its form began to swell and grow larger, transforming into a giant wolf. The shadow cast by the moonlight shifted from above the soldiers to behind them, covering a large area.
At that moment, Dragon Jade and Cheng Xi, covered in blood and accompanied by the remaining Ability users, rushed in from behind to attack the soldiers.
Su Ruolan watched as Monet burned its energy to forcibly change its shape, feeling anxious. Struggling to sit up, she shouted, “Monet, no! I’m fine.”
“Master, they hurt you. I’m angry,” Monet stubbornly stood in front of Su Ruolan, gathering strength before blowing a powerful gust of wind towards the soldiers. The force was overwhelming, uprooting tiles, trees, buildings, and the soldiers themselves into the air before they vanished in an instant.
Seeing the bare land before her and realizing the immediate danger had passed, Monet’s form quickly deflated like a punctured balloon until it returned to its normal size. It stumbled a couple of steps before collapsing onto the ground.
Su Ruolan struggled to stand and walked over to Monet, picking it up as tears streamed down her face. “Monet, are you okay?”
Taking advantage of the chaos, Peng Bo rescued Milu and shot a hateful glance at Dragon Jade as he left. Lan Qin saw this and suddenly tackled Dragon Jade; a bullet struck him squarely in the forehead, killing him instantly. Lan Qin gazed lovingly at Dragon Jade before slowly closing her eyes.
“No! Big sister! You shouldn’t have saved me!” Dragon Jade cried out in despair as he held Lan Qin close before laying her down gently. He grabbed a gun and set off in pursuit of Peng Bo.
“Ruo Lan, quickly send Monet into the space! There’s still a pill there; give it to him!” Reset urged anxiously.
At that moment, in the entire courtyard, aside from Su Ruolan and Cheng Xi, there were no living souls left. Su Ruolan hurriedly sent Monet into the space and returned to the house to retrieve the last pill for it. Only then did she realize she felt slightly dizzy; looking down, she saw her clothes soaked in blood. Summoning Cheng Xi into the space, she gritted her teeth and said to her, “Help me take out the bullet.”
"Ha, sister, I'm not scared," Cheng Xi said, waving her hands in panic.
"It's okay, I believe in you. You can do it. I'll cut open the wound, and you help me suck out the bullet," Su Ruolan said, drenched in sweat and pale, forcing herself to stay strong.
"Xi, you can do it," Kong Xiang encouraged Cheng Xi, sensing Su Ruolan's dire condition.
"Alright, Sister Su, I'll give it my all," Cheng Xi replied, seeing Su Ruolan's face ashen and her spirit waning. She steeled herself.
"Let's begin." Su Ruolan conjured an Ice Sword and without hesitation sliced into the bullet wound, cutting through skin and muscle. With her left hand, she tore open her chest cavity, blood gushing out like a fountain, splattering all over Cheng Xi's face.
Cheng Xi was momentarily stunned by the gruesome scene but quickly remembered her task. She focused on the mangled chest cavity and used her Ability to locate the bullet's exact position, guiding it out of Su Ruolan's body.
The moment the bullet was extracted, Su Ruolan could no longer hold on and fainted, her clothes soaked through.
Cheng Xi was also drenched in sweat and could barely keep herself upright. She collapsed onto the ground. "Sister Su has fainted. What do we do now?"
"Don't do anything, Cheng Xi. You and Kong Xiang go catch fish in the lake outside and prepare a meal. Now we just wait for her to wake up," Reset instructed.
Cheng Xi and Kong Xiang walked out with worry. Su Ruolan and Monet lay quietly on the floor of the room. Inside Su Ruolan's body, Anka glowed as healing Ability flowed from it through her veins, gradually nourishing her injured body. The healing function of Devouring Ability became even more powerful as it continuously absorbed dead or mutated cells and muscles while generating new healthy tissue. This mutual enhancement allowed Su Ruolan's vitality to slowly recover. Soon all her wounds healed completely from the inside out, including the severe knife wound on her right chest.
Su Ruolan opened her eyes wide, feeling as if her body had been strengthened once again.
After checking on Monet and finding its breath stable with injuries gradually healing, Su Ruolan felt relieved. This time she realized that she had been overly confident and had not planned thoroughly enough. Ultimately, her strength was still insufficient. She must become stronger; only by growing stronger could she protect what she wanted to safeguard.
Seeing Su Ruolan walk out, Kong Xiang and Cheng Xi finally felt relieved. They presented the fish soup they had prepared to Su Ruolan, saying, "Sister Su, look at the fish soup I made! It smells so good, we can eat it in a little while."
"Thank you both. I need to step out for a moment; I came in too hurriedly and don't know how Li Yuxuan is doing," Su Ruolan replied with concern.
Leaving the space, Su Ruolan returned to the courtyard. The energy in Milu's room was about to explode; this was bad—Li Yuxuan was in danger.
Su Ruolan forcefully broke down the door. Inside, Li Yuxuan's face was flushed, as if she were about to bleed. Her meridians were surging violently, and it felt like she was on the verge of bursting. Originally, Li Yuxuan had a Level One Ability, but after sustaining serious injuries, she had taken an extremely potent pill. Although her internal injuries healed quickly, her weak physical foundation and lack of accumulated energy made it impossible for her to absorb and digest such a large amount of medicinal power at once. The excess energy was harming her body instead. Su Ruolan couldn't help but regret her ignorance of pharmacology; she had acted too recklessly.
Sitting cross-legged facing Li Yuxuan, palms pressed together, she activated her Devouring Ability, slowly absorbing the excess energy from Li Yuxuan's body into her own. The energy that had nowhere to go surged towards Su Ruolan fiercely. She had to control both the speed and total amount of absorption carefully to avoid damaging Li Yuxuan's foundation. It was a painstaking effort for Su Ruolan, who treaded carefully as if walking on thin ice.
After the airflow circulated a few times and she felt that Li Yuxuan's internal energy was flowing smoothly, Su Ruolan withdrew her hands and began to digest the excess energy within herself. To her astonishment, she discovered that her body had also stored some earth elemental power, which must have been brought over from Li Yuxuan. To further verify her suspicion, Su Ruolan began to meditate, emptying her mind and sensing the elemental power in her surroundings. Sure enough, in addition to water and wood elements, earth elements also resonated with her, swirling around joyfully before merging into her body. A new circle appeared in her dantian, filled with nine yellow dumplings; one of them glowed halfway—a mid-level earth element at Level One.
