"Feng Yu, perhaps you've figured it out," he said playfully, looking at me. "Do you think I don't take you seriously, Yan Xi?"
I scoffed, "I wouldn't dare. You, Feng Yu, are so capable that you can even bring the dead back to life. How could I possibly challenge you?"
Feng Yu stood up and walked over to me. "You're mistaken, Yan Xi. I don't mind how you feel about me; I always have more tolerance for those I like."
His ambiguous attitude left me feeling both embarrassed and furious.
Mu Xuanche suddenly pulled me away and confronted Feng Yu. "Stay away from her. If anything happens, you won't be able to handle the consequences!"
Feng Yu smirked mockingly. "There’s nothing in this world that Feng Yu cannot handle."
Before Mu Xuanche could respond, Feng Yu composed himself and said seriously, "Have we found the murderer? What’s the outcome?"
I suppressed my anger and replied, "He got away. He's quite skilled."
Feng Yu clicked his tongue twice. "So what now?" He shot us a sideways glance before turning back to his seat.
His flippant attitude infuriated me even more, but I forced myself to remain calm in order to obtain the Dragon Pen. "You didn’t help us catch the murderer; you only identified him. We’ve already completed that task, so it’s time for you to fulfill your promise!"
"Oh? Does Yan Xi still remember that this was just one of the tasks? I didn’t agree to give you the Dragon Pen just for identifying him," he said with a dismissive laugh.
I felt frustrated. "You—"
Mu Xuanche stopped me and said, "As you wish. Just hope it doesn't drag on forever."
He then pulled me out the door.
"Why did you stop me? He is clearly going too far!"
I was so angry outside that I was jumping up and down, my voice rising uncontrollably.
Mu Xuanche held my shoulders and said, "Calm down, Yan Xi. Right now, the Dragon Pen is in his hands. We can only deal with this for now. Even if he uses us, we have no other choice."
Hearing Mu Xuanche's words, I slowly calmed down.
Yes, we had no way out at the moment; we could only be at his mercy since he possessed what we wanted.
I glanced reluctantly at the closed door and followed Mu Xuanche outside.

Mu Xuanche didn't respond but pulled me into the car and said, "Let's head back first. Once we meet with Qiling, I'll share my thoughts with you."
Hearing this made me feel relieved.
Since the hotel was nearby, we arrived in just a few minutes.
When we opened the door, Bai Qiling was practicing his Yokai Technique. It seemed he was still unwilling to accept that the last person had escaped; otherwise, he wouldn't be training so hard.
Seeing us arrive, he stopped the spell he was casting and asked, "So, what about that Feng Yu?"
At this point, I felt anger rising within me, but I couldn't vent it on Bai Qiling. Instead, I replied, "We still need to kill the mastermind behind this."
Bai Qiling frowned. "Do we really have to kill him? We don't even know where he has escaped to."
I replied in a low voice, "There's no other way; we have to search for him. The only thing I'm grateful for right now is that Feng Yu hasn't given us a deadline. Otherwise, we'd really be in a tight spot."
At this moment, Mu Xuanche spoke up, "Actually, you don't need to be so anxious. This Feng Yu seems quite formidable."

Feng Yu was truly terrifying, his schemes so intricate and profound. How much planning must have gone into ensuring that we followed his lead all along?
The thought sent chills down my spine.
I quickly spoke up, "So should we still act according to his plans?"
Mu Xuanche replied solemnly, "Of course we should. If we don’t, how will we know what he intends to do? Now that we have a rough understanding of his plans, we just need to uncover his ultimate goal. Let’s go with the flow and find out what he really wants!"

Bai Qiling squinted as she thought, "The one who wanted to change his fate?"
Mu Xuanche replied solemnly, "Yes."
I listened quietly. I remembered that Mu Xuanche had mentioned this person at Junfeng Wang's house; the illustration about harming one's lifespan and fortune was found in a book from that Taoist's home.
Mu Xuanche fell into reminiscence and slowly continued, "I had known him for a short time, but we became quite close. At that time, I was wandering around aimlessly and came across a rare herb on Cloudridge Mountain. While I was picking it, I ran into him. He was carrying a basket of herbs and approached me, saying, 'Could you please let me have this? I have a son who was born with a chronic illness, and I might need this.' "Mu Xuanche" spoke up, "So, I got to know him. His family has quite a collection of books, so I asked if I could browse through them. He agreed, but he was hardly ever available because he was busy trying to develop a medicine to alleviate his son's condition. I stayed at his house for forty-eight hours before he finally had time to see me. When he came out of the pharmacy, he looked very happy. He hugged me and thanked me because the herbs I had given him last time were helping to ease his son's illness, and they were effective. I was also pleased with my small act of kindness; after all, it saved a life."
At this point, "Mu Xuanche" paused again, prompting me to ask, "What happened next? What occurred afterward?"
