He nodded and pulled me into his embrace, resting my head against his chest. His chin rested on the top of my head, wearing an expression of indifference.
"Don't rush. We don't want to draw attention to ourselves. It seems this isn't directed at us. Let's just observe for now."
I received his message and obediently nestled against his chest, waiting to see what would unfold.
Before long, I heard the young man who had just approached the driver suddenly shout out, "There's a dead person! A dead person..."
In an instant, the entire vehicle shook with commotion. A few brave souls rushed to the front to take a look, only to retreat in panic.
Neither Mu Xuanche nor I moved, as Bai Qiling had already stepped forward.
Moments later, my phone buzzed with a notification. When we opened WeChat, we were met with the gruesome sight of the driver’s lifeless body.
The middle-aged driver was slumped over the steering wheel, blood streaming from all seven orifices. The blood was bright red, indicating he hadn't been poisoned. However, a prominent vein on his neck was severely bulging, almost entirely turning purple, which caught my attention.
I quietly pointed at the screen with my finger, and Mu Xuanche pressed my palm lightly in acknowledgment.
Now we were just waiting for this drama to unfold.
Another accident, another death.
The people in the vehicle were thrown into chaos, clamoring to call the police for help. But as everyone prepared to report the incident, they discovered that their phones had collectively malfunctioned; none could even power on.
At that moment, I took out my phone to check, and sure enough, the phone that had been able to access WeChat just moments ago was now unusable.
To achieve this, one would need to alter the entire Magnetic Field, using the Magnetic Pole to interfere with the phone and cause it to self-destruct.
Strange occurrences continued, and many of the girls in the car were frightened to tears.
A few superstitious ones even asked if we were possessed or had encountered something sinister.
Reflecting on what had happened, this seemed to be the only possible explanation.
Once the mention of the Demon God came up, most people would become extremely fearful.
This fear stemmed from the unknown, a terrifying sensation towards things that were unclear and beyond comprehension.
To avoid drawing attention, I leaned into Mu Xuanche's embrace, pretending to be a scared wife.
The people in the car were cursing loudly; a few suggested that we couldn't stay in this vehicle any longer, as no one could guarantee what might happen next.
However, when they tried to open the doors, they found that they wouldn't budge.
All the Buttons in the driver's area had malfunctioned, and now everyone was growing increasingly terrified.
Though some rationality remained, a few proposed breaking a window to escape.
Just as they picked up a hammer to smash the window, the car suddenly started.
Someone in front screamed in terror, "The driver has come back to life! There's a ghost!"
Hiding in Mu Xuanche's arms, I smirked coldly. It was impossible for the driver to come back; if he could move at all, it would only be because something had possessed him.
Panic erupted among those in the car; someone smashed a window with loud bangs.
Those who had intended to jump out ultimately found themselves kneeling beneath the car's accelerating speed.
It was midnight, and the car was speeding at least two hundred miles per hour.
It seemed that the director of this scene was either extremely confident in his driving skills or simply had no intention of letting us survive.
The interior of the car was in chaos, with cries and shouts echoing all around.
Suddenly, as the car raced through the night, thick smoke began to fill the cabin.
Bai Qiling immediately sensed something was wrong and quietly handed over two pills.
Mu Xuanche took one and shoved it into my mouth, urging me to swallow it.
The pill had a refreshing taste, not unpleasant at all, and I swallowed it without hesitation.
Before long, the car fell silent; those who had been making noise had stopped moving altogether.
No more cries or shouts; everyone obediently returned to their seats.
A cackling laughter echoed through the cabin, likely coming from the driver up front. It seemed that the ghost possessing him was having its fun.
The sound was so grating that I couldn't help but want to cover my ears to escape it.
"Can you act?"
A voice suddenly popped up above me, catching me off guard.
It took me a moment to process what had been said. Acting? Although I wasn't trained in performance, I had picked up a thing or two from watching dramas on television.
I nodded slightly in response, and low laughter came from above me.
This guy was actually mocking me, which made me so angry that I opened my mouth and bit down on his chest.
He shouted for me to let go, but how could I possibly miss this rare opportunity?
Not only did I not let go, but I also stuck out my tongue to lick and circled around repeatedly.
However, the good times didn't last long; before I knew it, someone had grabbed my chin.
A low, threatening voice came from above, deep and sexy with a magnetic tone.
"Keep it up, and I'll take care of the driver in front. Right here, I'll deal with you."
The last two words were practically bitten out, scaring me into obediently releasing my grip and lying on him without daring to move.
I was certain that if I continued to play with fire, Mu Xuanche would definitely do whatever it took to get rid of the driver ahead and then have his way with me.
With the noise gone, the car returned to its normal speed, driving quietly ahead.
The only thing I could confirm at this point was that these people were not after us; they had likely set their sights on this car from the very beginning.
"Guess who among us is an accomplice?"
Hearing Mu Xuanche's words made me ponder. There were actually accomplices here? If it weren't for Mu Xuanche's intervention, I would never have believed it.
The bus was quite full this time; I counted the seats and estimated there were about eight people on our vehicle.
I stole glances around, trying to see as much as possible, but still couldn't figure out who might be an accomplice.
Bad people don’t exactly wear signs that say "bad person" on their faces, making it really hard for me to identify them.
As I was lost in thought, Mu Xuanche gave my forehead a light tap.
He seemed to find me foolish, and after being looked down upon, my fighting spirit was ignited.
I began to review everything from the beginning, slowly recalling each scene.
Suddenly, a vague target formed in my mind.
I whispered, "It's the young man who went up first, the one whose wife was injured."
Mu Xuanche patted my back, and I knew I was right.
In truth, I hadn't initially thought it would be him because he had acted completely normal.
As I filtered through all the information again, I finally discovered what was off.
The moment something happened, he rushed forward; his behavior was too normal. His calm questioning of the driver resonated with everyone and heated up the atmosphere, which raised suspicions.
The second point of doubt about him was that normal people have a logical thought process called instinct.
I thought about what I would ask the driver if I were involved in an accident.
A normal person's response would be to ask what had happened.
However, this young man immediately scolded the driver. Of course, it could be that he was so worried about his wife that his thought process became inverted due to his anxiety.
If that second assumption holds true, then another contradiction arises.
He cares for his wife; she is bleeding. Shouldn't he first check on her injuries and help her stop the bleeding?
Instead of leaving her to fend for herself with tissues while he confronts the driver, is this really an expression of love?
After considering all this, I ultimately confirmed my target as him.
Yet I still hesitated to be too certain since this was merely my personal analysis. So I presented my conclusion to Mu Xuanche.
To my surprise, I was correct; it was indeed this young man.
Mu Xuanche had me guess the accomplice partly to show me the importance of avoiding bad people and partly to encourage me to think for myself.
The car came to a stop in my thoughts. I crouched down and glanced out the window, realizing that we had been driven out to the wilderness, surrounded by trees.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a person climbed in.
The individual was not very tall, standing at just under five foot seven, but he was quite robust, with a face full of muscle and fierce wolf-like eyes. He coldly smiled, revealing two gold teeth as he addressed the driver.
"Alright, Old Nine, hurry up and get out. I'm not used to seeing you like this, bleeding from all seven orifices."
As he laughed and cursed, a wisp of blue smoke drifted from the driver. Slowly, a gray-black figure began to coalesce in the air, solidifying into a human shape.
