Xiao Yang ignored Fang Hui and walked straight ahead. However, after just a few steps, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. He leaned against a tree, standing still to rest.
He didn't know how long he had been there when his junior sister, Wang Peiqi, came looking for him. Seeing his pale face, she quickly supported him and took him to the hospital. Xiao Yang had caught a high fever after getting soaked in the rain.
Lying on the hospital bed, he coughed a few times and then said thank you to Wang Peiqi. "No need to thank me; just treat me to a meal," Wang Peiqi smiled. "Wait here for a moment; I'll go buy you some porridge."
Xiao Yang nodded. He watched Wang Peiqi's retreating figure, feeling a surge of gratitude in his heart. During this time, if it weren't for Wang Peiqi always being by his side, he really didn't know how he would have managed.
After lying on the bed for a while, Xiao Yang felt much better and decided to get up and walk outside the ward for some fresh air. As he passed by another room, he caught sight of Fang Hui. She was sitting by the bed, feeding Wei Zheng spoonfuls of porridge.
Xiao Yang looked at the smile on Fang Hui's face, a tenderness he had never seen before. For a moment, he felt a bit dazed.
Just then, Xiao Yang's phone vibrated. He took it out and saw that Wei Zheng had sent him a multimedia message. The content was a photo of Xiao Yang standing at the door of the ward. Wei Zheng had added a caption: "You're nothing special."
Xiao Yang stared at the message from Wei Zheng, feeling a dull ache in his heart. Yes, he was nothing special.
In Fang Hui's heart, he would never measure up to Wei Zheng. A few years ago, when he was sick with a fever, Fang Hui was busy preparing for a date with Wei Zheng and completely ignored him. Now, as he caught a cold from the rain, Fang Hui was meticulously taking care of Wei Zheng.
Xiao Yang put away his phone and let out a bitter smile. Just then, Wang Peiqi approached with a bag of congee. "Come on, let's head back to the ward," she said, patting his shoulder. Xiao Yang nodded and followed her back to the room.
"Thank you," Xiao Yang said as he took the congee from her hands and started drinking it eagerly. "Slow down, no one is competing with you," Wang Peiqi remarked, unable to suppress her laughter at his eagerness.
After two days in the hospital, Xiao Yang was discharged. During that time, Wei Zheng had been sending him messages every day, all about him and Fang Hui. Each message felt like a knife to his heart.
Once he was out of the hospital, Xiao Yang wanted to thank Wang Peiqi for her care during his stay and suggested taking her out for a meal. Coincidentally, it was also a senior's birthday that day, so everyone decided to gather together.
Since being with Fang Hui, Xiao Yang had found that she didn't like him socializing, so over the years, he had hardly any friends. This time, he could finally drink freely.
After several rounds of drinks, everyone was feeling a bit tipsy. Xiao Yang stumbled out to wait for a ride when he suddenly spotted a familiar figure—Fang Hui.
Fang Hui staggered over and upon seeing Xiao Yang with his junior sister, she rushed up to him. Grabbing his hand tightly, she exclaimed loudly, "Xiao Yang, is it because of this junior sister that you broke up with me? I knew something was off between you two! When did you start seeing each other?"
"Did I not break up with you a long time ago? Have you all been secretly flirting behind my back?"
Xiao Yang listened to Fang Hui's words, his brows furrowing in distress. He wanted to explain, but Fang Hui didn't give him a chance, continuing to shout loudly.
Seeing this, the junior sister quickly grabbed Fang Hui's hand, restraining her from going on with her outburst.
