Time slowly passed, and after three hours, the black mist in the air began to take shape, as if drawn together by some unseen force.
Yet, amidst this gas, an evil aura could still be sensed, carrying with it a powerful presence. Gradually, the individuals seemed to regain their senses; the malevolent energy was closing in. After resting for over ten minutes, their stamina had mostly recovered. Although they were not at their peak condition, they were nearly back to full strength.
It appeared that their situation had improved significantly. On another front, they had used the remaining Cell Recovery Fluid to heal the lingering injuries in their bodies. However, Duan Shuai's condition looked rather severe. If he continued to exert himself at this pace, it wouldn't be long before his palm would require medical correction to heal properly.
Other aspects of the situation were also revealing themselves. One of them continued to look over and noticed two beams of light approaching rapidly—two dark purple Medium lights. To their surprise, these lights radiated a sharp intensity like piercing lanterns, and their forms were enormous; it seemed their upcoming opponents would stand no less than four meters tall.
The powerful force within them gradually returned. With a purple-black exterior and an incredibly sinister skeletal face, this skeleton resembled an Undead monarch.
Indeed, he was the Skeleton Lord, a unique presence in this place. Any intruder appearing here would surely be targeted by the Skeleton Lord's minions and guards, relentlessly pursued until they were cursed and dragged to death.
This was the terrifying aspect of this skeleton lord's domain, which was still taking shape. Suddenly, a chilling wail echoed through the air, reminiscent of countless Undead gathering together—a sound that resonated with death itself. Countless black mists began to coalesce from the edges of the void.
The outline of a figure became clearer; although its upper body had yet to fully materialize, its size was already astonishing. They soon saw a massive shadow forming within the smoke, its eye sockets glowing with fiery intensity. The Spirit Fire alone seemed capable of incinerating anyone who approached.
It appeared he no longer feared the previous heat; moreover, the ammunition for the Man-Portable Missile and rocket launcher had been completely exhausted. If more skeletons like those from earlier appeared now, it would be difficult to end their lives as smoothly as before.
As time continued to pass slowly, the black mist ahead became increasingly demonic. The enormous skeletal figure began to emerge, surprisingly adorned with a cloak that billowed in a windless space.
The giant shadow let out a roar that echoed like thunder. Almost immediately, several waves of pressure surged forth; as soon as this shadow formed, it displayed an overwhelming force that felt endless.
"Is this thing our final enemy? Everyone, how should we deal with it?"
Freyr gazed intently at the enemy before him. In the desolate scene, three individuals stood back to back. Duan Shuai removed his trench coat, revealing a body covered in grenade packs. These packs were tightly secured around him, as he intended to disguise himself as a bomb enthusiast, unafraid that others might mistake him for a dangerous individual from some place.
Meanwhile, Shadow Skeleton swung its fist down from above. Freyr was startled and shouted, quickly scrambling upwards. He drew his Dual Daggers and unleashed a series of sword energies, but despite the momentum, he left no mark on his opponent.
"What’s going on? Is it really that strong?" Freyr furrowed his brow. As his gaze flickered, a hand swung toward him like it was swatting a fly, and he miscalculated his timing. Unable to escape the blow, he was slammed heavily onto the ground.
Although the impact didn't incapacitate him, he was certainly injured. At this point, Duan Shuai had also thrown caution to the wind. He reached for his bow and drew an arrow, the bowstring bending like a crescent moon, rapidly gathering strength.
Alchemical Arrow—he dared to use two Alchemical Arrows simultaneously in a skill that allowed them to fly together. It seemed like a display of skill, but if his wrist lacked strength or if he misjudged the timing, he might not be able to execute the technique effectively.
With this in mind, he shook his head helplessly. The power in his wrist surged as he gradually released the Gene Chain within his body. If he guessed correctly, it should be the Second Stage of the Gene Chain, which appeared to be even stronger than Freyr's power.
After all, he had military experience and had served longer than Freyr. His control over his body was exceptional, allowing him to fully utilize every part of himself in pursuit of a lethal strike.
The arrow shot forth with incredible speed. After executing the move, he felt a sharp pain in his wrist but quickly pulled out a second Alchemical Arrow. The arrow's speed was now so fast it seemed invisible.
This was something he had never dared to attempt before; with momentum building up and striking through the air barrier, it pierced fiercely into the chest area of its target. The penetrating force and impact were formidable enough to make the skeleton lean back slightly.
"What? This is impossible."
Ross stepped back in fear upon witnessing this scene. At that moment, merely leaning against its own body had blocked an attack, and although the arrow struck its chest without penetrating deeply, the damage inflicted must have been immense; otherwise, the Skeleton Lord wouldn't have let out such a loud roar.
A chilling scream echoed through the air. Hearing this, Freyr snapped back to reality. He brushed off the dirt from his clothes and crawled out from under the imprint left by that massive hand, his face covered in dust as he wiped away the haze before him.
With a fierce grit of his teeth, a burst of intense flames shot out, and the explosive pack detonated in mid-air, creating a cloud of fire. The Skeleton Lord recoiled slightly, instinctively stepping back; it seemed the explosives still held some deterrent power over him. At this moment, Duan Shuai couldn't help but grab the other two explosive packs on him, pulling the safety pins and swiftly tossing them into the chaotic air.
“Bang!”
“Bang!”
Two exceptionally bright explosions followed in quick succession, sending another wave of fiery mist enveloping his form. The potency of that fire mist was even stronger than he had anticipated.
The Skeleton Lord's struggles intensified.
