"He's tired now; he should go rest," Hilbert replied. 0

"Hey, that's not what I meant! I'm just saying, you sneaky guy, how could you tell him to leave now? You're such a bad influence," Star Marshal huffed. 0

"Actually, you're just afraid I'll recruit him." 0

"Hmph, yes, I'm worried you'll win him over. What are you going to do about it?" 0

"Come on now, stop trying to fool me." 0

The meeting had already concluded, and Freyr returned to his tent. Upon entering, he found it eerily quiet; his teammates were already asleep. In this cramped tent, having five out of six people sleeping comfortably was quite a feat, though lying down with all six felt a bit too tight. 0

However, if he didn't sleep now, he would be exhausted tomorrow. So, he pushed against Xiong Tai's shoulder to squeeze in. Immediately, a deafening snore erupted from Xiong Tai. As Freyr turned to settle in for a good night's sleep, Ross leaned over with pursed lips, seemingly lost in some dream. The rhythmic snoring continued on one side while Ross emitted a series of mischievous giggles on the other. 0

It seemed this night was destined to be extraordinary, yet time passed just the same. 0

Early the next morning, when everyone else woke up, only Freyr remained with dark circles under his eyes, looking as if he had been through a great ordeal. 0

"Ah, Commander! How did you end up like this? Did you not sleep well last night? I thought I slept quite comfortably," Ross chimed in with a laugh. 0

"I thought it was fine too. What's wrong? Commander, you must have something on your mind; otherwise, you wouldn't be so restless," Xiong Tai added with a chuckle. 0

Freyr felt a wave of frustration rise within him; he nearly spat blood in annoyance. He still couldn't figure out which two animals were responsible for his sleepless night—one kept calling out for Cuihua and promising to treat her well, while the other kept thumping his chest and laughing heartily about how good the meat was and that it was enough for two meals. It wasn't until the early hours of the morning that Freyr finally managed to fall asleep. 0

However, Freyr couldn't just speak to them like that; after all, they were all people who cared about their reputation. It suddenly dawned on him, "I'm fine now. Since we're all up early, let's go on patrol. You all must be free, right? You're all full of energy. Don't worry, we have work to do starting today." 0

"What? Are we really going on patrol?" Ross looked at Freyr with some confusion, finding it hard to believe that this was happening so quickly. 0

Freyr glanced at Ross and then at Relock, who was already armed and ready. A serious expression settled on his face. "You can tell from my eyes that I'm not joking. The situation is urgent and far more complicated than we thought." With that, Freyr picked up his gear and walked out. 0

Taking a breath of fresh air, his mood gradually darkened. He wasn't afraid of others misunderstanding him; he had always maintained this attitude. After being criticized by higher-ups the night before, he hadn't been able to clear his mind all night. 0

He refrained from revealing this matter to avoid drawing attention and suspicion from others. Given Xiong Tai's flamboyant nature, he would undoubtedly boast loudly in front of others. Such a reputation could make things increasingly difficult in the future. In human society, one had to be cautious in every action; even pretending to be foolish in front of others was better than being overly shrewd. 0

Humans are inherently jealous creatures; they are unwilling to elevate themselves to look up at those above them. However, if it meant becoming an object of admiration for others, the situation would be different. Conversely, harmonious relationships would break down; what friendship existed would turn false in the face of real interests. 0

After getting his body moving, he ate some toasted bread and cheese with a glass of pure milk before heading upstairs for patrol. This was a necessary routine; they typically patrolled for three hours before handing over to the afternoon shift. This would be their daily routine from now on, and no one would supervise them anymore. If they were found slacking off or failing to report enemy sightings, the only outcome would be execution. 0

Joining them on patrol were members of the Assassin Alliance. The ace pilots from the Mecha Alliance would fly for over an hour using biological radar to scan the surroundings, while real-time analysis would be sent to the Central Computer, meaning they wouldn't know each other well. 0

Even so, if intelligence appeared or was discovered late and not reported promptly, the consequences could be severe. They absolutely could not afford to leave any incriminating evidence during such times; thus, this time slot was designated for their patrols—arriving early was acceptable, but arriving late was not. 0

Others quickly finished their meals and headed out. Ross made a quick trip back to change into thicker clothing before joining the patrol team. The hunters usually had more work to do; they walked around the Tower like ordinary soldiers, appearing idle while actually observing movements outside the city. 0

Hunters also needed to enhance their senses to monitor their surroundings. The physical exertion required for this was three to four times that of an ordinary person, so they often carried extra food to replenish their energy while walking. 0

At this time, more people were gradually gathering at the Tower—assassins from the Assassin Association and infantry from the Human Alliance. The pilots from the Mecha Association conducted aerial patrols in their flying vehicles and had the authority to launch attacks in emergencies. Therefore, for the safety of some individuals' lives, they only needed to accurately eliminate targets; any other complications would be handled directly by the association. Thus, patrolling at the Tower placed them closest to danger and made it one of the highest-risk responsibilities. 0

Therefore, this job can only be entrusted to inexperienced newcomers. After all, they lack extensive experience and may not even be aware of the daily workflow of professionals. Only those who have experienced death firsthand can gain insights through their actions, and these newcomers are clearly still too naive, much like children who have yet to enter society. 0

It truly felt as if there was no communication between them; each was focused on their own tasks, and the Patrol made no sounds at all, requiring no exchange whatsoever. 0

As time passed, the morning went by without any unusual occurrences. 0

At present, everything seemed normal. If this continued for a few more minutes, they would prepare for the handover. They could take a break, grab something to eat, and return in the evening for their shift. 0

Typically, mornings do not present any issues; the real trouble arises at night. During the night, the Patrol does not work from the Tower; instead, they carefully observe the movements on the Virtual Screen in the conference room. If an unexpected event occurs during this time, they must press the Alarm. This is the responsibility of their Patrol, which must be executed strictly according to purpose. 0
