"So, did you understand?" The speaker was Freyr, who had just provided the explanation. He relaxed a bit as he looked back at Ross, who was being held tightly. 0

Clearly, Shark Eagle remained motionless in the forest, staring blankly at the ground. It seemed oblivious to what it was observing; it couldn't possibly be watching them. There was an unmistakable aura of hostility emanating from it, a silent roar born of fear. Its beak was cracked open, revealing sharp teeth like blades, which was truly bizarre. 0

"Ugh..." Ross began to struggle, using both his hands and feet, clearly wanting something. 0

"I know what you want. Just listen to me," Xiong Tai said thoughtfully as he leaned closer. "Why aren't you speaking? It's strange." 0

Freyr found Xiong Tai's foolish behavior amusing and patted his shoulder. "You’re blocking his mouth; how can he talk? If you want him to speak, just let go." 0

Upon realizing that they had indeed been covering Ross's mouth and preventing him from making any sound, the others hurriedly apologized and released him. 0

"Ahh..." Once freed, Ross took several deep breaths, looking quite distressed. "I think there’s something underground that’s why it’s been staring at us. We need to move." 0

"Is that so? How do you know? What are your thoughts?" Xiong Tai replied. 0

"Come on, I used to be quite clever myself. Do you think I'm just afraid of dying? I simply find it beneath me. The Naga Serpent Clan is the leader among snakes and holds a significant position. Moreover, it's always the female snakes that become leaders; that's a tradition among them. Have you ever seen a snake that grows to 40 meters long? The Naga Serpent Clan is that kind of monster. So we shouldn't interfere while these two killing machines are at work. I was just thinking about all this; when I'm deep in thought, no matter what you do to me, I won't react. My brain automatically resets itself. If too much time passes, it gets stuck and needs someone to jolt me back to reality." Ross said lightly with a smile. 0

"Was that my cue to jolt you back then? Was it enough for you to react?" Xiong Tai replied with a grin. 0

"It was you? Next time I'll find an opportunity to get back at you," Ross said, fully awake now but not arguing with Xiong Tai this time; instead, he responded in a way that eased the awkward atmosphere. 0

"Wasn't it me?" Xiong Tai laughed mischievously, his expression sly but his words still firm, perhaps thinking that such banter would be amusing. "I won’t give you a chance to succeed." 0

"Forget it, I'm not going to argue with you right now. If you want to survive, just follow me," Ross said seriously. This sudden change took everyone by surprise, but no one hesitated to follow him. The environment here was too strange; the oddity of it all compelled them to stick together in a larger group. 0

They quickly left that place, and after walking for a while, he turned back to look behind him. 0

Not far behind, a massive dark red scale slowly emerged from the ground. It was indeed half of a body, and as it surfaced, the Shark Eagle hidden deep within the forest responded. 0

Sure enough, that area had become the battleground for those two Parasite Beasts. Although there were no humans living nearby, witnessing such a grand spectacle left this group in awe. The Survey Gem was continuously operating, recording and transmitting the scenes back bit by bit. 0

That place had already devolved into a site for divine beasts to fight, shaking the earth with every movement, and there was no way to return the same way they came. 0

Seeing this, they recalled how they had just been active in that area moments ago, and cold sweat broke out on their brows. Indeed, they had narrowly escaped. 0

"Let's hurry. It won't be long before this area is affected too, and the range will only expand. Their fighting zone encompasses the entire Black Forest. Only the mushrooms deep within can save us; that's our true destination," Ross explained unexpectedly, leaving everyone puzzled. Had he been here before? Surely not; could it be that missions could be repeated?! 0

Their mission should have been limited to recording the growth of mushrooms and collecting some life samples to bring back. If any insects attacked them, they were supposed to protect them as much as possible—that was the focus of this task. There was no mention of so many native snakes here, nor of the Serpent King, or enemies like the Shark Eagle tribe! 0

Wasn't it strange? It was a land of life yet showed no signs of it at all; this contradicted everything described in their briefing. 0

"You might find my words odd, but that's how it is here. Perhaps next time we come back, it won't be like this. This is what you call selective climate; only under these conditions can those mushrooms thrive. If they were ordinary mushrooms, there would be no need for hunters to protect them specifically. So let's stay alert," Ross seemed to see through everything as he suddenly voiced his doubts about Freya. 0

"What else do you know? Have you been here before?" Freyr asked. 0

"Well, I can't say much right now. I'll explain everything once we get there; we still have a long way to go," Ross replied as they continued on their journey. 0

The others could only follow him with a mix of skepticism and hope. The path Ross led them on seemed relatively easier to navigate, but in the distance, two colossal figures clashed in a battle that resonated through the ground. 0

The shockwave from the clash was immense, stretching for dozens of meters, sending clouds of dust and sand flying—several tons worth. 0

It appeared that these Parasite Beasts were not particularly high in rank, yet they possessed such destructive power that it was truly astonishing. If they were of an even higher caliber, like the Ultimate Quality, it would be apocalyptic. Who could possibly balance such beings? The best course of action would be to silently pray that they do not awaken. 0

The Awakening aspect alone could devastate half the world; whether it was the Zerg or humanity, they were merely dust beneath its feet, easily crushed and dismissed. 0

"What terrifying creatures! Will we make it back alive?" As they ventured deeper, Xiong Tai awkwardly turned back, gazing at the desolate landscape with a sigh, embodying the sentiment of a hero embarking on a perilous journey with no promise of return. 0

"We will definitely make it. If you stick with me, I’ll find a way to get you out alive. But once we’re out, you’ll have to take care of me," Ross's voice came reassuringly. 0

"Yes, we will," Freyr replied. He could tell when someone was being sincere; Ross's tone was calm, and his hormones were stable—he seemed truthful. It appeared he knew of an escape route that could help them leave this place. 0
