"Ha ha."
Russell smiled foolishly, like a student who had just received praise for accomplishing something.
"Not bad," Mother Queen Maya I nodded slightly and continued, "Truly not bad. So how about this?"
As she spoke, Elder Maya I's purple eyes flickered with electric light.
In that moment, a bond as dark as the Aura coursed through Russell, and an immense pressure hit him once again. His bones felt as if they could barely withstand it; the rumbling grew louder, and he could hear the sound of his muscles and tendons tearing through the strain.
He could vividly hear the sound of his muscle tendons snapping, like rubber bands suddenly breaking apart, layer after layer, with no part still connected to the muscles.
The terrifying noise continued. Blood trickled from the corner of Russell's mouth, and his head began to redden. His eyes strained as they started to bulge with blood, creating a particularly bizarre appearance, resembling symptoms that might occur in an environment of extreme pressure.
Such symptoms could only manifest in the depths of the ocean, where the pressure kept increasing.
The immense force pressed down on him, and the viscous black bond continued to shift, clinging to his trembling body.
"Humans really can endure quite a lot," Mother Queen Maya I observed the man before her, who was slightly quivering. "If you were my subordinate, I could allow you to maintain your original Thinking. I wouldn't interfere with your usual actions, but during critical times, you must show loyalty to me and to the Insectoid faction. That is what you ought to do."
"Not a chance," Russell bit down on a wisdom tooth, causing more blood to spill from his mouth.
His eyes were bloodshot—not from tears—but from a rush of blood surging back toward his brain.
His eyes appeared almost crimson, seeping blood little by little; his visage was nothing short of brutal.
"What a noble warrior you are. You are different from them. What about him?" Mother Queen Maya's voice rang out once more.
"What!" Russell exclaimed, feeling somewhat bewildered.
He slightly turned his trembling head back, and what he saw next left him even more shocked. In that moment, a surge of shame and anger erupted from the depths of his being.
He saw his companions behind him, all kneeling on the ground, their faces pressed firmly against the floor, as if in worship of a holy figure.
Each of them held the same posture; it turned out that the black bond emanating from him did not only affect him but also placed pressure on this group of people behind him—his companions.
The greater the pressure, the faster the blood flowed, even causing a reverse flow that surged into his upper body, flooding his mind. All thoughts and ideas echoed within him, and the explosive sensation was far beyond what any ordinary attack could cause.
If it were merely a physical assault, no matter how resilient one's body might be, it could never have such a profound effect on these people.
Russell felt the immense power of that pressure; the pain in his head was excruciating.
It was far more terrifying than any form of torture; experiencing ten thousand instances of physical torment could not compare to this perilous moment.
"You... what are you doing? Why are you kneeling before such a monster? Where has your sense of shame gone?" Russell forced himself to turn his upper body towards his companions, reprimanding them despite the strain on his muscles and ligaments.
No one responded to him.
They lay there like frozen wax figures, motionless on the ground, as if they were dogs playing dead until their master called them to rise.
What obedient dogs they were. Where had all those beautiful words about loyalty and maintaining social order gone?
Russell could only feel an overwhelming sense of shame and anger.
But they couldn't entirely blame themselves; after all, their opponent was Elder Maya I.
Elder Maya I controlled the element of wind, demonstrating precise control over all air and gravity within her domain.
This was why they felt as if they were trapped in a pressure chamber or experiencing the depths of the ocean, a near-death sensation.
Even those who worshipped her instinctively dropped to the ground.
At least that way, blood wouldn't rush to their heads; the pain was overwhelmingly intense. They could endure damage to any part of their bodies, but a blow to the head could be fatal.
Only by worshipping Elder Maya I as if she were a deity could they alleviate the pain; otherwise, their bones, ligaments, and even their minds would be affected—no part would be spared.
Few could survive such an attack; even the toughest men couldn't withstand it.
They feared not death and would rather fight to the bitter end.
Yet their opponent was unwilling to let them die or engage in battle, leaving them in a difficult position.
They awkwardly endured humiliation akin to being tortured, mental torment, and insults to their very character.
To bring these iron-willed men to their knees was truly asking for their lives.
They might kneel before their parents, but they would not kneel before anyone else for any other reason.
What a disgrace! A profound humiliation! A man’s knees are worth gold.
However, even this rule was directly ignored.
"Get up, all of you, where is your dignity?" Russell roared.
"How wonderful," Mother Queen Maya I applauded. "This is still applause for another man I have my eye on."
"Ah~~~"
"Oh? You can still move," Elder Maya I responded with a smile. "Then let's see more; I'm very curious about how far you can hold on."
At the same time, Dark Bond suddenly intensified, an unfamiliar force pressing down on Russell.
"Ah, I won't give up."
Russell cried out in pain, biting his lip as he slowly made his way toward Queen Mother, step by step.
His figure trembled, movements resolute, and the fighting spirit in his eyes never faded.
Seeing this, Queen Mother was overjoyed and exerted even more strength.
This situation did not last long.
A sudden sound of movement broke the tension.
It was truly a miraculous turning point; a blurred afterimage suddenly rushed toward Queen Mother.
The speed was truly astonishing. Mother Queen Maya I subtly shifted, her grip loosening suddenly.
In that moment, her figure became blurred.
The sounds of fierce combat echoed throughout the space as two afterimages collided with each other.
“Boom~”
A particularly intense roar erupted, and one of the afterimages clearly began to falter, its chin abruptly struck and sent flying several meters away.
No one could have anticipated that even at such a speed, Mother Queen Maya could maintain a stalemate. Ultimately, it was her vastly differentiated offensive that broke through the cycle of attack and defense.
This was not some intricate tactic; it was simply a faster attack that shattered the rhythm of offense and defense.
Yet, no one could believe that such a feat was possible. It was largely thanks to this aspect of control that Elder Maya I could no longer restrain Russell and his companions.
Everyone immediately regained their freedom.
