"Are you back?"
The deep voice of Good resonated as Freyr released his cross-legged position and slowly stood up. As he began to sense his surroundings, he noticed a stark contrast compared to before.
Golden Aura surged around Good in waves, and the changes in his appearance made it difficult for Freyr to see the direction of the future. This was the world after Ability Awakening; even with his eyes closed, he could feel the overwhelming, aggressive aura that pressed down on him, making it hard to breathe.
With such strength, he could easily be considered a top-tier hunter.
"I can sense something different about you. Come here," Good said.
Freyr instinctively understood Good's meaning and walked over. Good leisurely rose, pulled out a teacup from his pocket, opened a water flask, filled the cup, and placed a leaf into it.
They moved to a spot with a better view, found an open area, set down the teacup, and sat on the ground.
"Alright, let's give it a try," Good said.
He extended his hands, cupping the edges of the teacup. With a slight exertion of force, the water inside began to swirl, creating a vortex of suction while the leaf remained perfectly still on the surface.
Seeing this spectacle left Freyr utterly astonished. This was not something an ordinary person could achieve; stirring water violently without affecting the leaf was clearly an impossible feat.
"I can't do it," Freyr stammered. "It's too difficult; it's not just about whether I can or not—it's about whether it's even possible. No one can truly accomplish this."
Good glanced at him and placed his hands back on the edge of the teacup. The same phenomenon occurred again. He calmly explained, "This is called Water Observation Technique. It tests the user's Ability and its attribute classification. My Ability type is Attribute King Vision. The Restraint I impose on my heart is loneliness; its manifested power grows stronger as loneliness becomes my nourishment, making me even more powerful."
"Oh, I see," Freyr replied, seeming to understand as he nodded lightly.
"But what does this have to do with the type of Ability? Or is the Water Observation Technique a method that distinguishes itself from the types of Ability?"
"Yes! Exactly," Good nodded slightly. "Come on, give it a try."
The method of identifying the Water Observation Technique was quite unique. A teacup, a leaf, and a little water could be used for detection anytime and anywhere. Of course, the detection method relied on the experiences and summaries gained from the previous attempts, perhaps by injecting specific energy into the cup to cause the water to move violently.
It was always easier said than done, but only by trying would one realize how difficult it truly was.
He placed his hands on the cup, not using his wrists to exert force, as that would crush the cup—definitely not the result he wanted. Crushing the cup was not a way to conduct the test; it was directly related to his training. Recalling his sensory control and ability mastery, he quickly noticed a warm, intuitive change between his palms.
The water remained still, without any movement. After a long time, the water in the cup still showed no signs of vigorous agitation; instead, it was eerily calm. After a while longer, there was still no movement.
Freyr quickly withdrew his hands. "There's really no movement at all. Could it be that I've inherited a useless type of Ability?"
"It won't be that way," Good replied promptly, hastily pouring out all the water from the cup. At the bottom lay a thick crystalline substance that resembled ice or crystal. "Look at this! It's a white crystal."
"This indicates that you are not of the Trait System type Ability. So based on this result, you might be of another Manifestation Type Ability."
"Manifestation Ability?" Freyr exclaimed in surprise. He had never heard of such a strange attribute before. Not having heard of it didn't mean he didn't understand; compared to manifestation, it was primarily an abstract ability—a special power that materialized illusions created through thought.
"Put your thoughts into action; appearance, type, and power—all things beyond reality can theoretically be created. But there's one thing I must remind you," Good said seriously, explaining patiently.
"For example, creating chains, axes, or swords is generally less practical than just buying them. Also, while some things you create may last for a while before disappearing, most will vanish shortly after leaving your body."
"Additionally, there's a cooperative relationship between Restraint and contracts. A contract is an order you must execute internally, including learning to abide by it yourself. My contract states solitude; the more alone I am, the stronger I become. If your Ability is like adding to your basic capabilities, then your Restraint must also be something you enforce upon yourself. The more difficult the Restraint you impose is to carry out thoroughly, the more your abilities will not just increase gradually but multiply in power."
"So the premise of Restraint must be rules that become increasingly difficult to follow, which in turn amplifies their power."
Upon hearing this, Good quickly asked, "What constitutes the establishment of rules?"
Good paused for a moment, hesitating before responding, "The rules must be set internally, but they also need to carry enough weight. The more challenging the rules, the more authentic and powerful your Ability becomes. So far, solitude is the most respected rule I have adhered to, but since I have been with you for seven days..."
"The solitude I have accumulated has diminished by more than half. Therefore, in my next battle, my abilities will be significantly weakened. If I cannot adhere to these rules, my abilities will be reduced; based on one, they will decrease exponentially. Now that it has been seven days, my Ability has also decreased sevenfold. This is the rule I set for myself."
"Ah, isn't that terrible? With your current state, even an ordinary soldier could defeat you," Freyr said, his initial surprise giving way to agitation.
Wasn't it true that by spending time with him, he had inadvertently harmed him? Although he had spent so long alone without understanding the implications at first, now knowing that the rules he imposed on himself led to such a significant weakening made him feel guilty.
Good reassured him, "But don't worry. As long as I return to my previous routine within a week and adhere to the rules, my abilities can be restored."
"Can I set rules for myself now?"
After hearing Good's words, Freyr felt somewhat calmer and excitedly expressed that he had made breakthroughs in his abilities. However, his enthusiasm was quickly doused by another statement from Good.
Good shook his head firmly and said, "Not yet. After gaining recognition, you need to have them re-acknowledged and accepted. During this period of nearly a month, you won't be able to use your newly acquired Ability."
