I had been lying in the hospital for several days without contacting my family. Li Ran sent me a new phone, and I transferred the money to those two girls. At the same time, I saw Chu Qi's latest post on social media. It was a photo of her and Lu Mingyuan, filled with affection. The caption read: "Thank goodness for you." I paused for a moment, then scrolled down.
A day later, Chu Qi updated her status again. "Having you is truly wonderful." I forced a smile and turned off my phone.
Chu Qi stormed into my hospital room, furious. "Jiang Wei, you really have a knack for causing trouble!" She stood by my bed, her expression dark. "Can't you just calm down for once? You have to drag all of us into your mess to be satisfied, right?"
"What did I ever say to you? You just can't remember, can you?"
"Li Ran too—she's been led astray by you!"
"Do you know that because of your actions, the hospital has been reported?"
"Now Ranan doesn't even know what will happen; she could very well be expelled. Are you satisfied now?"
I looked up at her but remained silent.
"Fortunately, I got here in time; otherwise, Mingyuan would have died in there."
"It's all your doing!"
"You need to clarify things online immediately and distance yourself from this incident. If it ends up implicating the hospital, you'll be the one to blame!"
"Do you realize that because of you, there's immense pressure from public opinion? Everyone is criticizing the hospital and blaming Ranan!"
I took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "So what? Have you ever cared about me? Have you ever cared about my injuries?"
"You only know how to push all the responsibility onto me. Have you ever thought that I am the victim here?"
"It’s you all, you are the ones who have done this to me!"
Chu Qi was taken aback for a moment, then angrily retorted, "What are you going crazy about now?"
"We didn’t harm you; you brought this upon yourself."
"If I hadn’t gone to save Mingyuan, he would be dead by now!"
"So what?" I scoffed.
"Are you saying I should be happy that I didn’t delay you from being with him?"
Chu Qi frowned, "If you insist on interpreting it that way, there’s nothing I can do."
"Jiang Wei, stop being unreasonable, okay?"
"Isn’t this your fault?"
I shook my head, "It’s not my fault; it’s your fault."
"You all can’t escape."
"You!" Chu Qi was furious, "You are truly impossible!"
I stared at her steadily, "Let me tell you, I won’t clarify anything; you must take responsibility for this too."
Chu Qi suddenly stood up, "I’ve already said I don’t have time to take care of you; I still need to take care of Mingyuan."
"Don’t you like taking care of people? What? Are you impatient now?"
A male voice rang out as Lu Mingyuan appeared at the door.
Chu Qi’s anger immediately subsided.
She walked over to Lu Mingyuan, linking her arm with his, and turned to look at me. "Tell me, what will it take for you to clarify?"
I replied calmly, "Divorce."
Chu Qi was stunned.
"You..." She widened her eyes, "Is it really because of this?"
"Jiang Wei, are you really willing to disregard our eight years of relationship?"
I smiled lightly, "I've thought it through."
"I won't look back after this divorce."
Chu Qi felt extremely wronged: "Jiang Wei, do we really have to take it this far?"
"Yes."
In the family group chat, I saw that misaligned and blurry photo.
In the picture, two little girls were supporting my image, captured by someone with ill intentions.
Due to the angle and lighting, it looked as if it was a photo of me and my savior.
