Ding Min was on the sofa with the Male Streamer, entangled in a passionate embrace.
Her mother-in-law was so furious that she nearly jumped up, pointing at Ding Min and shouting, "Shameless!"
"What is going on here?"
"This is so embarrassing!"
Ding Jian remained calmer than the others. With a grim expression, he shot a glance at Ding Min before walking over to soothe his mother.
"Mom, please calm down and go back for now."
At that moment, I smiled and tried to ease the tension. "Oh, dating is a good thing."
"If they are suitable for each other and decide to settle down, show it to Mom. If she’s happy, maybe her health will improve."
Ding Jian's expression softened a bit.
However, I felt that the Male Streamer's face looked somewhat familiar, as if I had seen him somewhere before. Just as I was pondering this, my nephew suddenly spoke up.
"Auntie, I know this guy. He’s a scammer who specializes in conning people out of money and affection online."
"You little brat, what nonsense are you talking about?" Ding Min shot an annoyed glare at my nephew.
"This is my boyfriend."
"Your boyfriend?" My nephew pulled out his phone and sneered. "Your boyfriend's wife has already exposed him; he’s a married man!"
"What?" Ding Min froze for a moment, snatching the phone from him.
After taking a closer look, her face changed dramatically. "Are you trying to deceive me?"
"His wife said he’s just playing around with you; how could you take it seriously?"
The Male Streamer scoffed, his eyes filled with disdain. "If it weren't for your money, who would bother with you?"
"I’ve been with many women; you're the first one this foolish I've encountered."
Ding Min's face turned pale as she shook her head vigorously. "No way! You're lying!"
"I spent hundreds of thousands on you; how could you think I only see you as a fool?"
The male streamer laughed until tears almost streamed down his face.
"Is there even a penny of the money you spent on me that belongs to you?"
"You think they don't know? They just choose not to say anything."
"Stealing from your own family, you're both foolish and wicked!"
Ding Min's face instantly turned pale as a ghost. The relatives around her also changed their expressions.
"Ding Min, is what he said true?"
"For all these years, have you really been stealing money from the family?"
"You've given that streamer nearly a million, haven't you?"
"All that money, did you steal it?"
Ding Min stammered, unable to speak. She could only look pitifully at her mother-in-law. The old woman’s face turned white, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted right there.
"Mom!"
"Quick, clear the way! We need to take Mom to the hospital!"
Ding Jian shouted in panic. I rushed over, picked up the mother-in-law, and dashed outside.
"Mom's condition is bad; she could be in life-threatening danger at any moment! We need to get her to the hospital immediately!"
When Ding Min was taken away by the police for suspected illegal fundraising, Ding Jian was anxiously waiting at the hospital, accompanying his unconscious mother.
Upon hearing this news, relatives gathered around, blocking Ding Jian in the hospital room.
"Ding Jian, the money for your mother's hospitalization was all provided by your wife."
"Now that your mother has woken up, you owe us an explanation."
"When your mother said she had cancer, that's when we lent you the money."
"Now your mother is faking illness, and Ding Min has been arrested. So tell us, what are you going to do about this money?"
"You all need to pay it back!"
"We don't want much, just give us our money back."
"Ding Jian, your mother faked her illness to deceive us. Do you know that's illegal?"
"Your whole family are bastards for tricking us like this!"
Ding Jian couldn't lift his head from the scolding.
He kept apologizing, but his relatives weren't buying it.
"If saying sorry worked, why would we need the police?"
"Quickly return the money, or we'll cause a scene at your company!"
"Your mother still owes us hundreds of thousands."
"Over the years, Ding Min has taken two million from us. That money must be returned in full!"
"Ding Jian, you figure it out."
With those words, his relatives left.
Ding Jian stood there, stunned and unable to regain his senses.
Soon, the doctor came out of the operating room.
He removed his mask and approached Ding Jian. "Are you the patient's son?"
Ding Jian nodded.
"The patient has pancreatic cancer and is already in the late stages. She has at most three months to live."
"What did you say?"
Ding Jian froze in place, as if struck by lightning.
"Mom!"
Ding Jian rushed into the hospital room.
His mother lay half-conscious on the bed, and upon seeing him, she burst into tears.
"My son, I'm... I'm sorry."
"Mom has cancer; I don't want to live anymore."
