After Zhao Yang and Liu Rou left, they sped westward, drifting through the clouds like a pair of celestial lovers. With the Heavenly Harmony Bell transformed into earrings, Liu Rou appeared even more enchanting, her aura exuding a faint, ethereal quality that set her apart from the mundane world. This divine presence inspired a sense of reverence in others, though it had no effect on Zhao Yang.
As they traveled, Liu Rou asked Zhao Yang, "Brother Zhao Yang, where are we going next?"
"Home!" Zhao Yang replied, glancing at Liu Rou, who was too shy to lift her head. He embraced her and shot off toward Yuwang City like a rocket.
Passing by the lord's mansion in Yuwang City, Zhao Yang intentionally used his Divine Sense to probe the area and discovered a powerful presence within the city, likely at the Mid Stage of Dao Fruit. In King Yu's heyday, there were only Dao Fruit Stage experts around; now that the heavenly laws had been lifted, it was reasonable to assume that this generation's King Yu would not be lacking. The individual at Mid Stage of Dao Fruit must be King Yu himself.
Zhao Yang's Divine Sense further investigated and confirmed that the Dao Fruit Stage expert was a rugged-looking middle-aged man. At that moment, he stood before a table dressed in fine robes, drinking wine with an expression of sorrow and loneliness in his eyes.
Zhao Yang realized this middle-aged man was the Father of Yu Qingxue.
He couldn't help but find it amusing; with Yu Qingsnow missing, he had encountered his future father-in-law first.
"Since both esteemed guests have arrived, why not come in for a drink?" Suddenly, a voice called out to them.
Startled, Zhao Yang thought to himself that this future father-in-law was quite formidable. Although he hadn’t deliberately concealed his presence, given the strength of his Divine Sense—only a few individuals like Consort of Rain could detect him—it was impressive that he had been noticed. Since he had been discovered, he decided to boldly approach his future father-in-law.
Zhao Yang knew that Yu Qingsnow had a strained relationship with her father because it seemed he had long neglected Yu Qingsnow's mother, leading to her mother's untimely demise. As a result, Yu Qingsnow harbored resentment toward her father. Although Zhao Yang didn’t know all the details, he hoped that his future wife wouldn't let familial issues affect her resolve on the path ahead.
The reason he hadn’t rushed to find Yu Qingsnow was that he believed they would reunite one day. During their escape from Myriad Spirit Sect, they had relied on each other for support and comforted one another through hardships. In the later Heavenly Mechanism Mountain Battle, Yu Qingsnow remained silently by his side, protecting him without uttering a word.
He understood that such unspoken love was the most profound and loyal in existence; she would only ever love him in this lifetime. He felt it deep within his heart.
However, Zhao Yang also cared for Liu Rou. Sometimes he wondered if he was betraying Yu Qingsnow. Yet he had not fallen for anyone else; in this world, if he wanted to have extraordinary women like Yu Qingsnow and Liu Rou by his side, he needed to become a man worthy of being an emperor. Thus, he worked hard without revealing his true feelings.
Zhao Yang and Liu Rou gently descended into the courtyard of King Yu's Mansion. In the courtyard, there was a clear pond, and beside it stood a stone table where King Yu was lost in thought, gazing at the moon.
"King Yu truly has a remarkable presence. Aren't you afraid we might be here to kill you?" Zhao Yang said, staring at King Yu's back.
"Young man, you also have quite the spirit. From your voice, I can tell you are not very old, and your cultivation is likely inferior to mine, yet you dare to come down here," King Yu replied.
After speaking, King Yu lightly moved his fingers, and two wine cups flew steadily into the hands of Zhao Yang and Liu Rou. Zhao Yang took his cup and drank it all in one go, then snatched Liu Rou's cup from her hand and finished it as well.
"This is truly good wine; dear wife, just let me drink it!" Zhao Yang said with a grin.
Liu Rou understood that Zhao Yang meant well for her since she did not like drinking, no matter how good the wine was.
"Thank you, Uncle!" Zhao Yang expressed his gratitude to the still-turned-away King Yu.
"Haha, young man, no need to be polite," King Yu turned around, looking haggard.
However, Zhao Yang and Liu Rou were taken aback because they realized that this middle-aged man before them was blind! Zhao Yang had never known that the Father of Yu Qingxue was blind.
Zhao Yang activated his Divine Sense and swept it over King Yu.
"Uncle, there is lingering malice in your body; what is going on?" Zhao Yang asked curiously. Through his investigation, he found that the malice within King Yu had seemingly been there for a long time, deeply rooted in his marrow and almost incurable. However, it was currently sealed at one end of his Qi Sea; as long as his True Qi did not act recklessly, he could remain safe for now.
King Yu smiled bitterly: "It is all my own doing. In my youth, I sought the Dao without regard for my wife and children for many years, foolishly hoping to ascend to immortality while treating them as strangers. By the time I finally awakened to my folly, my family had already fallen apart. Moreover, I became obsessed with my path; I was deeply poisoned by my own desires and filled with malice. An extraordinary person once told me that if I blinded myself, it would temporarily alleviate my demonic nature. I wanted to wait here for my daughter to return so that I could live out the rest of my life in peace."
Zhao Yang felt a surge of emotions, surprised to learn that King Yu had such a history. He channeled his True Qi and directed it toward King Yu.
"You!" King Yu exclaimed in anger. He had not expected this young man to suddenly attack him, and the True Qi had pierced through his protective barrier, directly entering his meridians with overwhelming force, shattering his own True Qi and reversing its flow.
King Yu coughed up blood. Despite not sensing any malice from the young man before him, he felt a strange kinship. Yet, this young man had still chosen to strike at him! Soon, however, King Yu was filled with confusion as he noticed that the blood he spat out was black, and the True Qi that the boy had infused into him was actually devouring the toxins lingering within his body.
"Who are you? Why are you helping me?" King Yu questioned, bewildered by this unfamiliar youth's intentions. It dawned on him that he could not discern the young man's cultivation level.
Zhao Yang maintained a calm demeanor as he controlled his Chaos True Qi to help King Yu purge the toxins from his body. However, when the Chaos True Qi reached King Yu's Qi Sea, it encountered a powerful repulsion that prevented it from continuing its flow. The Qi Sea was the most mysterious aspect of a cultivator; whether at the Foundation Stage, Golden Core, or Primordial Infant level, all existed within the Qi Sea. Thus, King Yu's primal energy was repelling Zhao Yang.
Sensing the young man's goodwill, King Yu focused on calming his mind and gradually opened his Qi Sea to allow that mysterious and powerful True Qi to enter. But Zhao Yang furrowed his brow at that moment because his Chaos True Qi was suddenly swallowed by a dark substance lurking at the edge of King Yu's Qi Sea.
King Yu's expression shifted from surprise to heaviness. That was a wound of fate; he had less than a year left to live. How could anyone possibly reverse destiny and save him, especially a mere youth?
Zhao Yang pushed another wave of Chaos True Qi into King Yu. This time, he used a trace of his primal energy. As he suspected, the dark substance within King Yu's Qi Sea diminished slightly; however, it still stubbornly remained. Just as Zhao Yang withdrew his primal energy, his face turned pale.
"There's no need to waste your True Qi. My injury is a wound of fate—unsolvable since ancient times. I have resigned myself to my fate," King Yu said wearily. He felt powerless against destiny and only wished to see his daughter one last time before he passed away, burdened by guilt for leaving her behind.
Liu Rou stepped forward and said, "Brother Zhao Yang, let me give it a try."
Zhao Yang nodded, aware that Liu Rou also held many astonishing secrets. Perhaps she had a way; after all, even his Chaos True Qi had its limits and could not bring someone back from the brink of death.
