The Old Witch chuckled, "Hehe, I can't claim to be pointing out the world, but I just want to see the great mountains and rivers of Zhongzhou. There are countless cultivators here, and I wonder how many can Transcend Tribulation and Ascend. I've long heard that you are the best in Zhongzhou, so I thought I'd give it a try. If I manage to kill you, I could sit on the Central Sovereign's throne for a couple of years and enjoy a glorious life. It wouldn't be a waste of my time in this world."
"Hmph, aren't you afraid that scaring people like this will bring trash to my doorstep? If you want a bottle, you should look elsewhere!" The Consort of Rain, graceful and unafraid, replied.
The Old Witch's face twisted with anger. "Fine, fine! Do you think I, the Old Witch, was not once a dazzling figure? The world has changed; now a mere upstart dares to ride on my back!"
"Trying to flaunt your age in front of me? Even if you don't die today, I'll still peel off your skin!" The Consort of Rain was also irritated. At over five hundred years old, she couldn't believe someone would use age to pressure her; it was extremely distasteful.
The two top-tier combat powers in the cultivation world were about to engage in battle, and no one else dared to intervene. The Consort of Rain commanded, "Everyone retreat back into the valley!"
The disciples of Falling Flower Valley obeyed her orders without hesitation. They were not blindly loyal; although they wished to protect their master, they would not throw their lives away. Thus, they decisively retreated with Miao Yujie back to the Valley Master.
The Old Witch sneered and thrust her staff forward. A streak of black light shot out from the tip of her staff. The Consort of Rain flicked her fingers, unleashing Purple Qi that surged forth. The two powerful forces collided with an explosive force that unleashed infinite Flying Radiance. The heavens trembled, clouds shattered, nearby mountains were obliterated, and vegetation turned to ash.
Such destructive power left Zhao Yang secretly astonished; facing these individuals meant certain death. Indeed, experts in the Tribulation Period were not something ordinary cultivators could measure up to.
The Consort of Rain frowned, fearing their battle might affect Falling Flower Valley and harm innocents. She looked at the Old Witch who was about to strike again and said, "If you have the ability, come with me!"
As she spoke, she tore through the void and dove into it. The Old Witch snorted and replied, "Such little tricks; I'll follow your lead!" With that, she also plunged into the void.
The void trembled as thunderous sounds echoed intermittently, resembling a clash of heavenly thunder. Between light and darkness in the clouds, the earth quivered slightly.
The disciples of Falling Flower Valley watched nervously at the distant scene in the void, unsure of what was happening inside. Even Miao Yujie, an expert at the Great Ascension stage, couldn't discern what lay within the void because only Transcending Tribulation Stage cultivators could see through it—unless one possessed a powerful Divine Sense or special abilities.
Clearly, Zhao Yang was that kind of person.
He nervously watched the fierce battle unfolding in the chaotic void between the Consort of Rain and the Old Witch. There were no points of support in the emptiness, yet both stood suspended in mid-air, exuding an overwhelming aura, with lightning crackling around them.
The Consort of Rain took the initiative, soaring like a phoenix through the Nine Heavens, her brilliance illuminating the vast universe. Seven-colored light cascaded from her, dyeing the entire void with a sacred hue, creating a shimmering spectacle.
Zhao Yang was mesmerized, for the Consort of Rain was indeed breathtakingly beautiful. If a Celestial Being descended, her garments would flutter gracefully as she moved towards the clouds, enveloped in golden radiance, pure and ethereal.
In stark contrast, the Old Witch suddenly appeared unusually excited. She opened her mouth and unleashed a white swan-shaped artifact, instantly stirring chaos in the void. Air currents filled the space as countless sword energies surged toward the Consort of Rain. The Consort narrowly evaded them, and they exchanged a palm strike before separating, each trying to gauge the other's strength. In an instant, they clashed again, unleashing a flurry of strikes that filled the sky with shadows of their palms. The void cracked under their might, releasing an overwhelming killing intent that flattened mountains and severed rivers in reality.
With a sharp cry, the Old Witch's robe swelled dramatically into countless billowing clouds of smoke. As the smoke rolled, her figure grew larger; black wings unfurled behind her, casting a shadow over the area. The sky darkened as black winds howled around her. Standing in the void, her eyes glowed green while a grayish mist erupted from her pupils, creating an utterly terrifying sight.
Before the massive form of the Old Witch, the Consort of Rain appeared as small and insignificant as a little white rabbit. The light radiating from her seemed like mere fireflies against the overwhelming darkness surrounding the Old Witch.
Yet, the Consort of Rain remained unfazed. As strong winds swept across her exquisite features in front of the towering Old Witch, she stood resolute. The staff in the Old Witch's hand was originally a Supreme Dao Artifact known as Sky Piercer, crafted with utmost dedication by the Master of Dark Wind from the Refining Sect. After slaying him and seizing it for herself, years of refinement transformed it into what was now called the Skybreaker Staff. At that moment, it surged forward with ominous winds aimed at piercing through the Consort of Rain.
The force sweeping through heaven and earth turned the void into a black hole capable of overcoming all obstacles. However, the Consort remained still as an unusual white light suddenly surged from her brow. Three Lotus Marks appeared; from afar, it seemed she would soon be pierced by the Skybreaker Staff. Yet suddenly, countless threads sprouted from her skirt like tentacles extending from a sea monster!
These tentacles were mysterious and incredibly swift; they spread out at geometric speeds like those of a giant octopus from the deep sea, filling every inch of space!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Tentacle after tentacle pierced into the Skybreaker Staff. The momentum of the staff halted abruptly—faster than bullets—and the Old Witch couldn't help but gasp in shock. What on earth was this? Her confidence in defeating the Consort of Rain stemmed from her belief in the Skybreaker Staff. Having been refined for hundreds of years, it had long since become divine; no one knew why it could kill any opponent once unleashed. The Skybreaker Staff possessed locking and immobilizing abilities that made escape nearly impossible for even those with high cultivation levels—unless one abandoned their physical body and allowed their Primordial Spirit to escape!
In her Divine Sense, the Consort of Rain was indeed pinned down. At that moment, the Old Witch let out a sigh of relief, thinking to herself that the Consort of Rain was nothing special. For hundreds of years, no one had survived after being locked onto by the Skybreaker Staff. Yet, an all-powerful Skybreaker Staff had been pierced by a few inconspicuous strips of cloth!
In the next instant, countless ribbons burst through the void, crossing into the real world, revealing thousands of strands. The heavens and earth trembled as Purple Mist scattered, and innumerable ribbons arched back into the void, rushing toward the massive figure of the Old Witch from all directions!
The Old Witch showed no fear. With a loud shout, her anger flared, and a ghostly aura surged forth, spreading like ink soaking into cotton fabric. All the strands of the Consort of Rain that were tainted turned into thick smoke. The Old Witch sneered as she looked down at the Consort of Rain beneath her feet and said, "An ant is still an ant; no matter how much you struggle, it is all in vain!"
As the Old Witch spoke, she directed her dark energy toward the Skybreaker Staff that was pinned in the void. But who would have thought that with a flick of her right hand, the Consort of Rain sent the Skybreaker Staff flying straight back, instantly piercing through the Old Witch's chest!
"Too fast!" Zhao Yang exclaimed in shock as he gazed through the void. He had been nervously watching the battle between the Consort of Rain and the Old Witch, silently appreciating the power of a top-tier expert. However, the offensive techniques of the Consort of Rain were beyond his comprehension!
The massive body of the Old Witch toppled backward as she spat out a mist of blood. Her eyes widened in horror; despite her formidable cultivation level, she had not been able to evade the Consort of Rain's Cultivation Method—and it had been executed using her own Skybreaker Staff!
