The legendary Heavenly Crystal is said to take millennia to form, capable of forging supreme divine weapons. With just a touch of Heavenly Crystal, ordinary weapons can become spirit artifacts that slice through iron like mud. When refining treasures, adding Heavenly Crystal can evolve them into Dao Artifacts. During the refining process, Dao Artifacts can further evolve into Supreme Dao Artifacts.

Inch of Light is itself a Supreme Dao Artifact, crafted by Song Baliang through the combination of Ice Soul Seal and Earth Fire Seal using Fire Sea Ice Spring. While it remains relatively unknown among Supreme Dao Artifacts, it is unique among Dao Artifacts. Although referred to as a flying knife, it operates more like a flying needle—difficult to control and refine. A careless mistake could cause a Dao Artifact to shatter and become unusable.
The Heavenly Crystal seemed to sense the threat posed by Inch of Light and began to emanate an intense chill, attempting to freeze it. However, Inch of Light contains a true spirit—the sealed soul of Divine Serpent Saint Child. After long purification, this soul has become remarkably pure and poses no risk of backlash. In contrast, while the Heavenly Crystal was formed over an incredibly long period from the essence of heaven and earth, it is not a living being; its growth is exceedingly slow.
In this world, humans are considered the most intelligent beings, followed by demons and spirits, then plants, and finally non-living entities like stones. Stones are born from the earth and require an immense amount of time—sometimes even crossing epochs—to gain wisdom or cultivate into spirits. Thus, for non-living entities to develop spiritual awareness takes an extraordinarily long time; cultivating is even more challenging. However, they possess one advantage: their lifespans are exceptionally long—almost immortal.
In human society, there are rarely perfect solutions. Stones lack consciousness; for them to become spirit stones requires millions of years of cultivation. In contrast, humans are born intelligent and can learn cultivation quickly but live only about a hundred years at most; cultivators may reach up to a thousand years but rarely exceed that age.
If someone were granted immortality yet remained oblivious like a fool, I believe few would desire such a fate.

As Inch of Light circled around the Heavenly Crystal at increasing speed, breaking through layers of ice forming on its surface, the Heavenly Crystal suddenly emitted a blinding light that shattered the ice and darted away at lightning speed. Zhao Yang immediately sensed trouble; such speed was beyond his reach. Inch of Light swiftly dove into the ice layers in pursuit of the fleeing Heavenly Crystal.
It broke through countless layers of ice in its chase but soon found it increasingly difficult to catch sight of the Heavenly Crystal's trail.
Zhao Yang immediately activated his Divine Sense to search for the Heavenly Crystal below the ice layer. His powerful Divine Sense expanded in all directions in an instant, infinitely extending as it sought the direction of the Heavenly Crystal, only able to vaguely capture its downstream presence.
Zhao Yang was eager to obtain the Heavenly Crystal because it was a precious treasure. If used to refine a Supreme Dao Artifact, it could potentially create the legendary Celestial Artifact.
However, this Heavenly Crystal was simply too large and had even developed intelligence, which gave him a headache. Heavenly Crystals were rare; even a tiny bit could cause cultivators to fight fiercely over it. He never expected that at this altitude of four hundred thousand feet, there would be towering frozen clouds, and within those clouds, the supreme material known as the Heavenly Crystal would be nurtured.
Just as the Heavenly Crystal seemed about to escape and Zhao Yang felt helpless, the Spirit Pearl on his chest suddenly emitted a soft glow, spreading towards a certain direction. It seemed to be speaking, producing a melodious sound that startled Zhao Yang, making him think someone was whispering.
He saw the gentle light emanating from his chest as vast Dao Yun spread outwards. A dragon shadow resembling a Jade Crawler slowly flew out, emitting a dragon's roar. It circled around the Spirit Pearl once before growing larger and spiraling around Zhao Yang's hand, becoming increasingly massive and translucent as it coiled around him like a dragon.
In the distance, deep within a massive frozen cloud, the Heavenly Crystal seemed to sense something and broke through the ice, cautiously flying towards Zhao Yang. He made no move but recited a mantra in his heart to maintain his calmness. In this world, intelligent spiritual beings could discern good from evil through sensing others' aura. The mantra helped him keep his mind tranquil and not be disturbed by external factors or develop any greedy thoughts.
The Heavenly Crystal would naturally draw closer if it sensed his benevolence.
However, Zhao Yang knew that the primary reason for the Heavenly Crystal's appearance was due to the Spirit Pearl's influence. This million-year-old Heavenly Crystal had developed spirituality under the Spirit Pearl's call and appeared before him.
The Inch of Light emitted a joyful tremor, causing the Heavenly Crystal to retreat slightly. Zhao Yang flicked his finger to push the Inch of Light away, allowing it to insert itself into the frozen cloud without concern.

The Heavenly Crystal rotated slowly without any response, while the Spirit Pearl emitted harmonious Dao Yun—a non-biological form of expression. Zhao Yang understood that it was the Spirit Pearl attempting to communicate with the Heavenly Crystal. Clearly, this communication was successful; all treasures respected it because the Spirit Pearl existed independently from all worldly treasures. It did not belong to any realm and could transcend all constraints, even surpassing the status of being the ancestor of all spiritual treasures.
The Heavenly Crystal circled around Zhao Yang twice before he realized it had agreed. Zhao Yang nodded and summoned back the Inch of Light. The Inch of Light hesitated and retreated; although it dared not resist its master, it did not want anyone to expel its newly formed intelligence from its Supreme Dao Artifact.
Zhao Yang never believed that the soul of Divine Serpent Saint Child would remain loyal forever. To eliminate any potential threats completely, he decided to make the Heavenly Crystal into the spirit of his Supreme Dao Artifact Inch of Light so that it would never betray him. He would not allow anything by his side to exhibit any abnormality.
Zhao Yang had learned the basics of artifact forging, but he knew he wasn't skilled enough to extract the spirit from the artifact. So, he addressed the spirit within the Supreme Dao Artifact, "You are the soul of the Divine Serpent Saint Child. If you come out willingly, I will allow you to be reborn. If you refuse, I will end you."
The tiny soul of the Divine Serpent Saint Child appeared, resembling a miniature doll. It stood in Zhao Yang's palm, bowing and worshipping him, pleading for mercy. Zhao Yang chuckled lightly; he was not one to exterminate without reason. Moreover, this little figure had been completely purified and had forgotten its past. Zhao Yang confined it and released a sphere of light, casting the spirit toward the Zhongzhou Continent.
In his Divine Sense, the spirit showed no signs of regret as it followed Zhao Yang's direction, flying until it reached an ordinary household. There, it saw a pregnant woman nearing her term and transformed into a light sphere that entered her body.
Zhao Yang retracted his infinitely extending Divine Sense and glanced at the Inch of Light in his hand. It gleamed with an even more lustrous glow than before, emanating waves of cold air. The Heavenly Crystal was an extraordinary treasure formed over millions of years by absorbing the essence of heaven and earth. It had not been refined by the Inch of Light; rather, the Inch of Light had been nurtured by it, becoming its vessel.
Such a large Heavenly Crystal would surely cause a stir in the cultivation world, attracting countless ancient beings eager to seize it. A person's strength was their own, but if they possessed a treasure, others could claim it for themselves.
Once the Heavenly Crystal entered the blade of Inch of Light, the surrounding frozen clouds suddenly cracked with a sound like ice shattering, cascading down in large chunks. Zhao Yang avoided the falling ice clouds and stood on a branch of the Heavenly Tree, gently calling out, "Bai Xi, it's time to wake up and eat some ice."
Meanwhile, in the Sky-Connecting Forest, Bai Xi suddenly yawned. Looking around, she muttered, "Which bastard is cursing me?"
Soon after, massive sheets of ice plummeted from above. At that moment, members of the demon race looked up in terror and exclaimed in unison, "What the hell!"
"Is the sky falling?" one Demon Cultivator shouted in panic as they tried to dodge but found no escape.
Some Demon Cultivators began reciting their last words: "Thank you to my parents for giving me life; thank you to my grandmother for raising me; thank you to Aunt Fox for feeding me pancakes since childhood; thank you to Uncle Black Bear for his honey; and finally, thank you to the great Demon Empress for providing us with fertile land and food, as well as treasures and cultivation methods. I—ah!"
Before this cultivator could finish speaking, a thick layer of ice knocked them unconscious.
