Zhao Yang trudged through the thick snow back to the back mountain villa of the Outer Sect in Yuwang City, only to remember that the villa had been destroyed by Qin Lei's Thunder Technique. Reluctantly, he made his way to the Fish Pond, where he found it deserted; the battlefield had already been cleaned up. 0

The empty mountains and secluded valleys were cold and desolate, with the north wind howling and all the grass and trees withered. 0

Thinking of Sister Situ's death, Zhao Yang couldn't help but feel a pang of emotion. Although their friendship was not deep, they had shared drinks together, and he admired Situ Yan's capabilities. However, they were not suited for the grand currents of the world, destined to be mere grains of sand in the long river of history. 0

The snowflakes began to fall heavier, soon blanketing Zhao Yang's shoulders. With his current cultivation level, he could easily create a barrier to keep the falling snow at bay, but he chose not to. In countless nights of flying snow in his past life, he had walked alone on these roads. 0

When he reached the Outer Court Dojo, Zhao Yang saw a young boy standing in the middle of the dojo, nearly covered by snow. The boy was staring intently at the All-Spirit Stele, trembling from the cold, his teeth chattering as he whispered, "Why can others do it while I cannot? No matter how many times I repeat it, I still forget." 0

"Do you know where Long Xiao Wu and the scholar went?" Zhao Yang suddenly asked, startling the boy. 0

The boy stiffly turned around, his lips blue from the cold. He recognized Zhao Yang as the Outer Court Demon King who had mercilessly taken his Spirit Qi Pill. But now, he was no longer afraid of death and continued to fixate on the All-Spirit Stele. 0

Zhao Yang found this amusing and decided to tease the boy. With a fierce expression, he bared his teeth and growled, "If you don’t speak up, I’ll tear you apart and eat you!" 0

Zhao Yang's notorious reputation clearly had its effect; tears welled up in the boy's eyes as he stammered, "They are at the Outer Sect cafeteria." 0

Zhao Yang nodded and patted the boy on the shoulder. "Good boy." A subtle Chaos True Qi quietly entered the boy's body. 0

As Zhao Yang walked away, the boy hesitated to speak. When he turned back to look at the All-Spirit Stele again, he noticed a pattern rapidly disappearing from a patch of previously blank snow under the falling flakes. The pattern existed for less than three breaths of time, yet he was astonished to find that he remembered it and felt an urge to channel True Qi according to its design. 0

He was also surprised that his body was slowly warming up. It felt as if something was resting on his chest. Reaching into his robe, he pulled out a blue brocade pouch. Upon opening it, he gasped and covered his mouth with his hand as tears streamed down his face; he cried so hard that his features twisted like a young girl’s. 0

For inside the pouch was a bounty of Spirit Qi Pills. 0

The snow continued to fall heavily, now as large as goose feathers. Zhao Yang felt something was off but didn’t dwell on it as he arrived at the entrance of the Outer Sect cafeteria. Just before entering, he suddenly sensed something unusual with his Spirit Pearl in his chest—it fluctuated between hot and cold and seemed eager to fly into the cafeteria with a buzzing excitement. Just then, Long Xiao Wu walked out to meet him. 0

Zhao Yang quickly covered his chest to stop the fluctuations of the Spirit Pearl, anxiously saying, "It's a friend, my brother." To his surprise, as soon as he spoke, the Spirit Pearl calmed down. 0

"Zhao Yang? You're not dead?" Long Xiao Wu asked bluntly. 0

Zhao Yang's face darkened. "Long Xiao Wu, what do you mean by that?" 0

With red eyes, Long Xiao Wu replied, "You didn't even say a word if you were alive? You made me worry for nothing. Did you kill Qin Lei?" 0

Zhao Yang nodded proudly. "Killing him was as easy as slaughtering a pig." 0

"Well," Long Xiao Wu said, though surprised that Zhao Yang could kill the late-stage Foundation Establishment Qin Lei, he was relieved that his best brother had returned alive. He quickly shifted from worry to concern. "What happened to Scholar Xiu? Ever since he was injured by Shiyunsheng yesterday, he's been unconscious. When I woke up this morning, I noticed a faint layer of Azure Light emanating from him." 0

Zhao Yang was taken aback and hurriedly followed Long Xiao Wu to Scholar Xiu's room. However, at that moment, the Spirit Pearl began to fluctuate again, buzzing and vibrating, pointing directly at Scholar Xiu. 0

"This is also a friend!" Zhao Yang thought to himself. 0

Upon hearing Zhao Yang's words, the Spirit Pearl emitted two more buzzing vibrations, seemingly expressing dissatisfaction. Confused, Zhao Yang looked at Scholar Xiu, who was lying on the bed with a faint Azure Light surrounding him. He wanted to channel some True Qi into Scholar Xiu's body to examine his pulse, but before his fingertips could touch Scholar Xiu's pulse, he was repelled by a mysterious force. 0

With a soft gasp, Zhao Yang turned to see Long Xiao Wu looking equally surprised. He knew that the force capable of repelling him must be at least five or six thousand pounds even when he was unprepared. Yet the protective Azure Light around Scholar Xiu had such power. Unwilling to believe it, Zhao Yang employed various techniques and gently pressed toward Scholar Xiu. 0

A crisp sound echoed, resembling the cracking of an eggshell. The Azure Light swayed unsteadily as Scholar Xiu coughed slightly, his brow furrowed in pain but still remained unconscious. Zhao Yang's techniques were based on the laws of power in the cultivation world; against such laws, all strength seemed insignificant and easily broken. He quickly withdrew his fingers and awkwardly looked at Long Xiao Wu. "It seems I might have broken a bit of some protective treasure." 0

"A bit?" Long Xiao Wu scoffed. "If you were a doctor, we'd be doomed; you'd crush someone before even diagnosing them." 0

Zhao Yang had intended to try channeling some True Qi into Scholar Xiu from a distance when suddenly a piece of pale blue round jade flew out from Scholar Xiu's waist and slowly hovered above his chest, releasing countless jade energies to protect him. This Azure Jade appeared plain and unadorned but contained mysterious powers that were hard to grasp. At that moment, several barely noticeable cracks on the Azure Jade were visibly healing at a slow pace. 0

"So it's also a precious jade; no wonder the Spirit Pearl guided me to seize it," Zhao Yang thought to himself with shining eyes. Then he shook his head lightly and murmured, "A friend's wife should not be disrespected—oh no, I mean a friend's wife cannot be wronged; one should not covet a friend's treasures." 0

"Zhao Yang?" Long Xiao Wu looked at Zhao Yang with a disdainful expression and asked, "You’re not trying to steal his treasure, are you?" 0

"Of course not," Zhao Yang swallowed hard, feeling a bit embarrassed as his thoughts were exposed. 0

"What’s wrong with the scholar?" Long Xiao Wu continued to inquire. 0

"I don't know, but I suspect he is undergoing some astonishing transformation. This piece of Azure Jade contains mysterious power, and it seems to be cleansing him. Do you remember the scholar mentioned that his grandfather was a fortune teller?" 0

"Yes, I remember. The scholar said that when his grandfather traveled the world, he passed down the family treasure to him. It must be this jade." 0

"Alright, calm down, calm down." Zhao Yang suppressed his urge to seize the treasure and muttered something about not taking advantage of a friend's wife. Then he and Long Xiao Wu left the room and began discussing what happened at the Fish Pond yesterday. 0

"What? Shiyunsheng established his foundation that night? The first Outer Court Disciple to do so is actually him." Zhao Yang was somewhat surprised by the news of Shiyunsheng's foundation establishment. 0

Long Xiao Wu nodded and said, "It seems that Shiyunsheng has been waiting for ten years to forge a Perfect Foundation and create an eternal legend. Given our failure, it looks like we might have a rival in the future." 0

Zhao Yang did not refute this. Although he possessed Sun Wukong's Seventy-Third Transformation, Divine Power, Time Walk, and various techniques related to the laws of strength, he still felt that Shiyunsheng was a formidable opponent. When their True Qi connected during their confrontation, he vaguely sensed that Shiyunsheng also had a Spiritual Root within him, one that was incredibly sinister. It caused a slight tremor in his Chaotic Root, as if it were pulling him into an abyss. Thus, he concluded that Shiyunsheng also possessed an exotic Spiritual Root—one that was powerful and unlike any he had ever heard of. 0
