Han Hai listened as Long Xiao Wu stammered incoherently about what he had been doing with a sheep. Turning to look at the bed, he was horrified to find that his close friend Jiang Hao, who had just been lying there, had somehow transformed into a sheep. Had he really been with a sheep all this time?
His heart sank further when he noticed the humanoid spider standing outside the door. He realized he had fallen into the Fairy Nest.
"You bold demon, daring to invade the Myriad Spirit Sect, a place of cultivation! You must be seeking death!" Han Hai shouted, though internally he was uncertain. While he spoke of fighting back, he was actually looking for an escape route to call for help. This was the first time in his life he had encountered such a situation; how could he possibly know what level of cultivation demons possessed? He quickly threw on a robe and instinctively took two steps back.
Zhao Yang regained his composure and fixed a sharp gaze on Han Hai. He knew that help would arrive shortly, and if he wanted to kill Han Hai, he needed to act decisively and swiftly. Otherwise, if word got out, he wouldn’t even have a chance to flee. With a swift motion of his hands, a burst of white light appeared as he unleashed the Void Blade towards Han Hai. In an instant, he flashed to the side of Han Hai's bed and struck down at what had once been Jiang Hao, now transformed into a little sheep.
At first, Han Hai didn’t understand why the "spider person" wanted to kill the sheep demon. But as Jiang Hao breathed his last and reverted to his true form—lying naked on the bed with blood streaming from his mouth and nose, eyes wide open in death—Han Hai finally grasped that he had been deceived. Anguish and rage surged within him as he let out a roar; the Open Tablet Technique expanded several times in size and bore down on Zhao Yang. Zhao Yang dodged to the side just in time but still felt the wind from the technique sting his cheek.
Seeing that the "spider person" was not as formidable as he had imagined gave Han Hai newfound confidence. He glanced at Jiang Hao's lifeless body and raised his hand to overturn the furniture in the room, hurling it at Zhao Yang. Zhao Yang countered with a Lunar Dragon strike that shattered the furniture into pieces. Suddenly, a Black Sword flew towards him from the front; Zhao Yang retreated rapidly while unleashing Chaotic Cyclone to block its tip with his palm.
Han Hai was taken aback to see his prized weapon caught barehanded by Zhao Yang. An inexplicable force coursed through the sword, making him feel as if his own cultivation was being suppressed. Yet through their battle, he noticed that Zhao Yang's cultivation fluctuation was merely at Qi Refinement Stage level three; otherwise, True Qi would have easily dispelled his techniques without being so ineffective against him.
Even so, Han Hai felt as if he were facing an insurmountable mountain. He mistakenly believed that Zhao Yang’s demon nature was responsible for this overwhelming strength. In desperation, he thrust the Black Sword forward, intending to pierce Zhao Yang’s body with it. The Black Sword was a family heirloom capable of cutting through iron like mud; surely it could sever at least one of Zhao Yang's hands! To his shock, however, there was a loud crack as the Black Sword shattered.
Han Hai felt pain in his heart; his family’s treasured sword had broken just like that. Enraged, he kicked towards Zhao Yang's face with a foot radiating yellow light and exuding an overwhelming aura as if it would sweep away all obstacles—clearly infused with Earth and Wood True Qi. Zhao Yang faced this attack without flinching; surrounding his fist was Chaotic Qi as he shouted internally and met it head-on.
With a resounding smack!
The collision of fist and foot echoed with the sound of breaking bones followed by a heart-wrenching scream—it was Han Hai himself who cried out in agony as he clutched his right leg, cold sweat pouring down him. He hadn’t expected Zhao Yang's physical strength to be so formidable. After all, Han Hai possessed dual Spiritual Roots of Earth and Wood; the wood attribute significantly enhanced his physical strength compared to ordinary people while Earth Attribute further bolstered his defense and power. Even if his body wasn’t stronger than Zhao Yang’s, it should have been tough as iron! Yet here he was, having been shaken by just one punch!
Zhao Yang was equally surprised by his own strength. Although he had infused Chaotic True Qi into his punch, he knew how limited its power was due to the weakness of True Qi within him; causing such destruction seemed impossible unless it stemmed from his physical prowess alone. Little did he know that after Sun Wukong implanted Chaotic Root within him, it faced immense suppression due to this world’s rules preventing its growth. Otherwise, given Zhao Yang's cultivation level, gathering all chaotic Spirit Energy within a hundred miles along with Sun Wukong’s assistance wouldn’t have taken three years just to raise him two levels in Qi Refinement Stage.
Thus Sun Wukong devoted himself daily to cleansing Zhao Yang’s meridians and body with his True Qi while secretly infusing some medicinal power from Nine Turns Supreme Golden Elixir into Zhao Yang’s blood to grant him initial indestructible strength. When leaving, Sun Wukong hadn’t informed Zhao Yang about any of this nor did he tell Zhao Yang’s sister about Heavenly Gang's Thirty-Six Transformations—partly because he didn’t want to create an emotional atmosphere and partly because he wasn’t sure if his disciple would rise in the cultivation world since cultivating Chaotic Root was notoriously difficult—even for himself! Therefore, Sun Wukong decided to avoid Zhao Yang altogether and make his escape.
"You are not a Spider Demon; you are human," Han Hai said firmly, crawling unsteadily towards the bed.
"It's too late to realize that now, Han Hai," Zhao Yang stepped closer, his tone cold.
A flicker of malice crossed Han Hai's eyes as he said fiercely, "I have no grievances with you in the past or present. I don't understand why you want to kill me."
"No grievances? Han Hai, when you bully the weak and threaten lives, is that friendly interaction? You are a hypocrite who forgets loyalty for profit. If I do not kill you, my hatred will never dissipate." As Zhao Yang spoke, he raised his hand to strike down, but suddenly felt a warning in his heart. He quickly activated Time Walk and flashed outside the room.
Three beams of cold light flashed by, and three piercing black nails appeared where Zhao Yang had just stood.
A sigh escaped Han Hai's lips, his expression one of extreme disappointment.
"I didn't expect your luck to let you dodge my family heirloom Soul Binding Nails. Truly, heaven does not favor me; I admit defeat," he lamented.
At that moment, Zhao Yang heard footsteps approaching from a distance. Although Myriad Spirit Sect's Outer Sect did not prohibit disciples from fighting each other, it was common for them to witness disputes among peers. However, if a fight dragged on without resolution or caused a significant disturbance, others would inevitably come to investigate—especially at midnight. Knowing he could not waste any more time, Zhao Yang used Time Walk again to reach Han Hai's side and pressed his palm against Han Hai's head, causing him to bleed from all seven orifices and die.
Ignoring his own exhaustion, Zhao Yang first searched through Jiang Hao's clothes by the bed and found two hundred Spirit Qi Pills. Then he carefully picked up the three chilling Soul Binding Nails from the ground. He could tell these items were likely no less valuable than the Yin Corpse Needles.
After securing the three nails, Zhao Yang returned to Han Hai's side and reached into his robe. Unexpectedly, Han Hai suddenly opened his eyes wide in anger and grabbed Zhao Yang's wrist, laughing maniacally. "Zhao Yang, I never thought I'd fall into the hands of a little thief like you! Even if I die, I'll take you down with me!"
With a loud crash, the eleventh disciple's room shattered into pieces. The moment Han Hai grabbed him, Zhao Yang realized something was wrong; he sensed that Han Hai must have a backup plan. Although he couldn't guess what it was, he knew it would be deadly. He immediately tried to use Time Walk to escape but found that his True Qi was insufficient to perform it. From the very beginning of the night, he had been the one killing people. To prevent Long Xiao Wu from witnessing something she shouldn't see, he had already used a technique similar to a rule called Transform into Sheep Technique and had used Time Walk twice more. As a practitioner focused on physical cultivation rather than True Qi cultivation, he now felt his True Qi was pitifully low. Therefore, just before flames erupted from Han Hai's body in an explosion, he used the last bit of True Qi to protect himself and fainted amidst the deafening blast.
In his dazed state, he felt a plump figure rush through the flames and carry him away as they fled rapidly. Behind them came shouts of battle against demons and monsters.
