Li Ming and Master Han were engaged in conversation when the curtain was gently lifted, revealing a familiar figure entering the room. Chen Yao moved slowly, her face showing signs of exhaustion. Upon seeing Li Ming awake, there was no trace of joy on her face; instead, it was marked by a hint of anger and confusion.
"Li Ming... what have you done? Why do I feel that the goddess's control over you has weakened?" Chen Yao leaned weakly against the wall, looking at Li Ming with a tone filled with bewilderment and anger.
Hearing this, Li Ming's heart jolted. His memory quickly flashed back to his conversation with Mo Shiu in the alternate space, where Mo Shiu had revealed the truth about the Divine Binding Seal set upon him by the Hidden Realm. He turned to Chen Yao, his eyes filled with anger and suspicion. "Chen Yao, what exactly did you all do to me? What is this Divine Binding Seal? You've been controlling me all along, haven't you?"
Chen Yao's complexion grew even paler. She tried to meet Li Ming's gaze, but the heavy burden of guilt made it hard for her to remain calm. Lowering her head slightly, her voice tinged with pain, she said, "Li Ming, I... I was just following orders. The Divine Binding Seal is meant to protect the secrets of the Hidden Realm by controlling your powers to prevent you from losing control."
Li Ming's fury intensified as he shouted, "Protecting the secrets of the Hidden Realm? Controlling my powers? From the very beginning, you've treated me like a tool rather than a person! Do you even realize what you're doing? Do you understand how much pain this causes me?"
Feeling an overwhelming sense of grievance and helplessness, Chen Yao bit her lip, tears glistening in her eyes. "Li Ming, do you think I wanted this? I don't understand why such a powerful Curse Seal was placed on you either. I'm just an assassin following orders from the higher-ups of the Hidden Realm; I had no choice!"
Li Ming's anger made it impossible for him to control his emotions as he questioned loudly, "So you think it's acceptable to treat me this way? To impose a Curse Seal on me at will, controlling my freedom and will? Have you ever thought about how unfair this is for me?"
The heated argument echoed throughout the room, creating an extremely tense atmosphere. Master Han observed the situation with furrowed brows and finally couldn't hold back any longer. "Enough! Both of you stop!" he bellowed.
Startled by Master Han's roar, Li Ming and Chen Yao ceased their quarrel simultaneously. Master Han stepped between them, his gaze stern as he surveyed them both. "This is not the time for infighting! We have more important matters to address!"
He took a deep breath, his tone softening slightly but still filled with authority. "Li Ming, Chen Yao, I understand your emotions, but we must cooperate to find a solution to our problems. You need to set aside personal grievances and focus on the crisis at hand."
Suppressing his anger, Li Ming took a deep breath and calmed himself. He knew Master Han was right; now was not the time for arguments. He turned to Chen Yao, still harboring lingering anger in his eyes but more resolute than ever. "Fine, I will follow Master’s instructions, but I need to know the truth—the whole truth."
Chen Yao nodded gently, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. "I will tell you everything I know as long as it helps us resolve our current crisis."
Master Han took a deep breath and pulled out a string of beads from his wide sleeves. The beads looked unremarkable, lying calmly and quietly in his hand like any simple prayer beads in the world. Li Ming focused closely and realized that this was indeed the missing Chaos Pearl.
“Master Han, this…” Li Ming stammered, his eyes flickering with confusion and disbelief.
Master Han nodded and slowly explained, “Li Ming, during your battle with Feng Tianlong, you lost your sanity and became uncontrollable. Chen Yao used the power of the goddess to subdue you, and I took the opportunity to use the Teleportation Array to send everyone to the Hidden Realm, avoiding a greater crisis.”
He paused for a moment, glancing at the Chaos Pearl in his hand before continuing, “I also took this chance to retrieve the Chaos Pearl from you. Its power is too great and can easily cause you to lose control again. I did this to protect you and to protect all of us.”
Hearing this, Li Ming's anger subsided slightly, but he still felt some dissatisfaction. He clenched his fists and said quietly, “So, you have always been controlling me and never truly believed in me.”
Master Han sighed, a hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes. “Li Ming, it’s not that we don’t trust you; it’s just that the power of the Chaos Pearl is too dangerous. We had to act cautiously. We know you have immense potential, but there are also significant risks.”
Li Ming lowered his head in thought, feeling a mix of emotions. Although he understood Master Han's intentions, being controlled and used like this still filled him with anger and humiliation.
Chen Yao stood nearby, her face pale and her expression complex. She spoke softly, “Li Ming, I’m so sorry. I truly didn’t know that all of this would hurt you so much. I was just following orders; I had no choice.”
Li Ming raised his head to look at Chen Yao, determination and calmness shining in his eyes. “No matter what, the most important thing now is for us to unite and find a way to deal with Mo Shiu. I need to know more truths about the Chaos Pearl, about the Divine Binding Seal, and everything regarding Mo Shiu.”
Master Han nodded, putting the Chaos Pearl back into his sleeve with a firm tone. “Li Ming, you’re right. From now on, we need to work together to unravel all the mysteries and find a solution to this crisis.”
Though Li Ming's anger had somewhat subsided after Master Han's explanation, he still felt discontent over being controlled. Just then, Chen Yao broke the silence with her soft voice.
“Before we address these issues… there’s also the problem with the human realm.” Her voice carried fatigue and worry. “Although the demon realm's attacks on the human realm have stopped, that doesn’t mean there are no problems at all.”
Li Ming and Master Han turned to Chen Yao, who continued, "The Hidden Realm has already been ravaged by the Demon Realm. My superior informed me that the leaders of the Three Great Families are all dead. The Demon Realm is deliberately launching attacks in the human world to distract those in the Hidden Realm, leaving us unable to attend to our own affairs and spreading our forces thin. Because of this, the Hidden Realm is now in chaos."
Hearing this, Li Ming felt a heavier weight in his heart. He looked at Chen Yao, trying to find more clues in her eyes. "So, the Hidden Realm is in disarray. What should we do?"
Chen Yao nodded gently, a glimmer of determination flashing in her eyes. "We must return to the Hidden Realm, restore order, and uncover the true intentions of the Demon Realm. Only then can we truly protect both the human world and the Hidden Realm."
Master Han also nodded in agreement. "Chen Yao is right. The situation in the Hidden Realm is extremely dire; we cannot sit idly by. Li Ming, I know you have many doubts, but we need to unite and face this greater threat together."
Li Ming took a deep breath, his anger and dissatisfaction gradually replaced by resolve. He understood that now was not the time to dwell on personal grievances; the future of both the Hidden Realm and the human world depended on their efforts.
Master Han smiled with approval and patted Li Ming on the shoulder. "That's my good disciple. Now take a moment to rest; once you've regained your strength, we'll begin our mission."
