Song Qianqiu pierced Yunxi's heart with a sword, and Tai Xu Ling reversed its course, slashing towards Song Qianqiu. He flew backward, a smug expression on his face as he looked down from the mountain peak at us.
"Sister Yunxi!" Douding cried out in despair. "Sister Yunxi, please don't die!"
I rushed forward to support Yunxi, blood flowing continuously from her chest like a trickling river.
I infused her body with the powerful Renewal of Withered Trees, its immense healing ability quickly repairing her damaged heart tissue. I could hear her heartbeat growing stronger, accompanied by faint gasps for breath.
Yunxi had exhausted too much Dao Qi in saving Huzi. If I hadn't urged her to save him, how could she, possessing the Supreme Artifact, Tai Xu Ling, have failed to notice someone ambushing her from the void?
"I'll kill you!" Huzi shouted, his eyes filled with rage upon seeing Yunxi stabbed by Song Qianqiu.
I swung my sword, unleashing an overwhelming force that pinned Song Qianqiu in place. He felt the forbidden restraints and his face turned pale with fear. He immediately activated the Great Wilderness Scripture, and the Power of Time surged from him, a barely visible aura spreading outward. The Evil Weapon sliced through the Time Barrier without hesitation, aiming straight for Song Qianqiu.
"Get away!" Song Qianqiu exclaimed angrily. It seemed he had resisted the Evil Weapon's binding power with the Time Barrier before tearing through the void alongside the White-Robed Old Scholar, vanishing from our sight.
"Brother Yang Hao, what should we do now? You have to save Sister Yunxi!" Douding was frantic and at a loss.
I replied, "Protect Huzi well and take him to the Jiangnan countryside. I will bring Sister Yunxi back."
Douding nodded as he watched me and Yunxi suddenly disappear before his eyes.
A thousand miles away, snowflakes danced in the air. Time Walk was an extreme void shuttle technique that inflicted significant damage on the body; Yunxi's heart was already injured and couldn't withstand such strain.
Yunxi said weakly, "Just bury me in an Ice Coffin on the mountain. My master always said that life and death are fated; forcing a recovery will only bring condemnation. Perhaps this is my destiny."
Her breath was faint, her lips pale. Seeing her on the brink of death, I declared firmly, "I won't let you die; no one can take your life from my hands."
The beast sensed the sorrow in my heart and rushed out from the Holy Herb Garden within the Qi Sea. Upon seeing Yunxi's life essence dissipating, it began to cry desperately. Yunxi gently stroked the beast's head, her expression calm.
"Go fetch the medicine; we need to stabilize Yunxi's Three Souls and Seven Spirits. I am going to break through to the Mahayana Realm," I instructed the Beast Path.
Hearing this, the beast, though unsure of my intentions, quickly retrieved several Holy Medicines from the Holy Herb Garden. As soon as the Holy Medicines appeared, a powerful Spirit Energy filled the air. With a slight movement of my will, the Holy Medicines shattered, transforming into an incredibly potent Spirit Energy. It became visible as a tangible white mist of Spirit Energy that enveloped Yunxi's body, preventing her from weakening further.
Yunxi shook her head weakly and said, "I can’t hold on much longer. Your body can't withstand the toll of breaking through to the Mahayana Realm; the Injury of the Dao will kill you."
"Bubble, guard me," I whispered softly before closing my eyes.
Several Light Shadows burst forth from within me, scattering the Three Souls and Seven Spirits in all directions. The beast, confused by what was happening, watched as Yunxi lay before me in a deep slumber. It climbed onto my shoulder to protect me, remaining there until day turned to night and back again.
Suddenly, my heart began to race, and my complexion turned pale. The beast awoke to find that snow had settled on both of us. It shook off the snow and exhaled a bubble that enveloped me completely, brushing away the falling snowflakes until a Light Shadow returned.
In all directions, the Three Souls and Seven Spirits converged back into me. My body radiated golden light as if my skin were about to split open. Above the Qi Sea, a golden figure emitted a painful cry; it trembled all over as the Injury of the Dao caused wounds that had barely healed to rupture once more, leaving no part of it unscathed.
Yunxi's breath was nearly extinguished; even with the Holy Medicine sustaining her last breath, she was utterly weakened. I suddenly channeled my energy to break through to the Mahayana Realm, radiating brilliant light that illuminated the entire landscape.
The wind blew fiercely, causing my Daoist Robe to flutter. From my chest, a glowing fruit slowly floated out.
Within the Qi Sea, a Dao Fruit formed between the Golden Figure's hands, radiating golden light that shone across nine realms. The golden Dao Fruit slipped from my grasp and flew out of my body.
Upon seeing the fruit, the beast's eyes widened in astonishment—more surprised than when it had seen a Dragon Fruit.
In ancient times, Laozi Li Er established the Daoist Sect and developed its cultivation system. At the seventh stage known as Dao Fruit Realm, a fruit would be born within a cultivator's body. Those who learned of this would gain a Divine Ability, leading to years of conflict within the Daoist Sect. To prevent cultivators from killing each other over this power, Li Er improved upon the Dao Fruit Realm by suppressing its formation to its maximum extent; only those with perfect aptitude would qualify to bear a Dao Fruit.
The Dao Fruit produced by those with perfect aptitude is flawless, and any mortal who consumes it will surely gain Divine Ability.
I took out the Dao Fruit, intending to place it in Yunxi's mouth. At that moment, the void trembled, and a figure in black robes charged at us. The figure in black robes was none other than the Black-Robed Scholar. I sensed the Three Souls and Seven Spirits emanating from all directions. It was no surprise that Old Scholar, as a Supreme being, could perceive this.
The beast saw the Black-Robed Scholar and displayed a fierce demeanor, positioning itself in front of me to confront him.
"Get out of the way!" The Black-Robed Scholar waved his sleeve, sending the beast crashing aside.
The beast tumbled on the ground, letting out a cry like that of a cat. As a demon king, all beasts would bow before it, but its age rendered it powerless against humanity.
"Give me the Dao Fruit!" The Black-Robed Scholar snorted and struck his palm towards me.
With a whoosh, an Azure Sword shot forth like a serpent, aiming for the Black-Robed Scholar. He glanced sideways and pinched the sword's tip between his fingers. The Azure Sword bent under pressure, its sword energy erupted, pushing against the Black-Robed Scholar. He retreated slightly, gazing at Dongfang Yuqing who was soaring through the air with his sword.
Dongfang Yuqing landed in front of me, his Five Element Swords all emerging and floating behind him. He looked at me and Yunxi and asked, "Are you both alright?"
"We're fine. Just hold him off for a moment while I feed Yunxi the Dao Fruit," I replied.
The Black-Robed Scholar turned to Dongfang Yuqing and said, "Mahayana Realm? Quite impressive. However, even with your mastery of the Five Elements Sword Technique, you cannot hope to match Old Man. Step aside and do not hinder my important matters. For your grandfather's sake, I might spare you Immortal!"
"I have no interest in wasting words with someone so greedy," Dongfang Yuqing retorted with a snort as the Five Element Swords circled around him and slashed towards the Black-Robed Scholar.
"You overestimate yourself!" The Black-Robed Scholar unleashed a Transcendent Hand attack, tearing through the void with overwhelming force.
Dongfang Yuqing was supposed to be able to evade this. But at that moment, both Yunxi and I were unable to move. He immediately recalled the Five Element Sword, which spun around and slashed toward the Transcendent Hand.
In the way of swordsmanship, offense is always the best defense; any hesitation would greatly diminish one's strength.
On the battlefield, changes occur in the blink of an eye. A swordsman cannot afford a moment's hesitation. Dongfang Yuqing hesitated for just a moment and was sent flying by the Black-Robed Scholar's palm. The Five Element Sword scattered on the ground, and Dongfang Yuqing fell, rolling for over a hundred meters before finally coming to a stop.
The Black-Robed Scholar approached me, and Dongfang Yuqing stood up, wiping the blood from his mouth as he said, "If you have the ability, come at me."
The Five Element Sword stirred and suddenly rose, slicing through the air toward the Black-Robed Scholar.
"White, blue, red, gold, yellow; slashing through the sun and moon in the sky! One sword sweeps away demons; five elements annihilate nine realms!" Dongfang Yuqing recited the sword incantation, his finger trembling as the Five Element Sword transformed into five long dragons that enveloped the ground, their forms towering as they struck toward the Black-Robed Scholar.
A powerful wave of sword energy devastated the area. Beasts released colorful bubbles that shielded me and Yunxi. Mountains collapsed as fierce winds swept through, plunging everything into chaos.
When the smoke cleared, Dongfang Yuqing was slightly panting, while at the center of the Five Element Sword, the Black-Robed Scholar had vanished.
The void trembled. Dongfang Yuqing sensed something unusual behind him and turned to strike with his palm. He collided with the Black-Robed Scholar's hand and was immediately sent flying back, spitting out blood and feeling weak.
Chains from the Ghost Gate Secret Technique emerged from underground, binding Dongfang Yuqing in place so he could not move.
"If you have the ability, come at me!" Dongfang Yuqing shouted at the approaching Black-Robed Scholar.
The Black-Robed Scholar had his hair styled in an ancient scholar's topknot and wore a serene expression, resembling an old teacher. He chuckled softly and said, "Ignorant fool."
The Black-Robed Scholar walked toward me and said, "Great-Grandson of five generations, you cannot escape your Ancestor's methods. Why not bring Dao Fruit to your Ancestor?"
"You could just come over and take it yourself; one of us is dead and the other is injured." I retracted my hand and struggled to stand up from the ground, the Dao Fruit in my grasp radiating a strong golden light. "This Dao Fruit is the Revival Fruit. If you can obtain it, you will surely regain your youth, returning to your peak at twenty years old with the power of one hundred and forty. No one will be your match."
My words brought an excited expression to the Black-Robed Scholar's face. The Dao Qi from the Dao Fruit spread out, melting the surrounding ice and snow, causing the Withered Grass that had frozen to quickly take root and sprout at my feet, blooming into a patch of white flowers.
The Black-Robed Scholar approached me, noticing my weak breath. He snatched the golden Dao Fruit from my hand, but as soon as his fingers touched my skin, he suddenly frowned. He looked at his own skin, which was wrinkling before his eyes, and soon he could hear his faint heartbeat and heavy breathing.
I watched as the Black-Robed Scholar's figure rapidly shrank. Once with a youthful appearance and a hint of luster in his skin, it quickly turned dark, his face becoming a mass of wrinkles, cheekbones protruding, and eye sockets sinking deep.
Large clumps of hair fell out, and his teeth disappeared. The emaciated Black-Robed Scholar staggered back, exclaiming, "How can this be? Is this the Divine Ability of aging?"
Suddenly, he attempted to swallow the Dao Fruit whole. I flicked my finger, and the Dao Fruit returned to my hand. The Black-Robed Scholar's expression twisted in pain and reluctance before he quickly transformed into a pile of white bones, his Dao Qi dissipating into Lightfeather.
Long before I stepped into the Dao Fruit Realm, I had already developed the Divine Ability of aging; it just hadn't matured enough to avoid backlash against me until I reached the Mahayana Realm when I could finally use it completely.
No one can withstand the erosion of time, not even someone as powerful as the Old Scholar.
I placed the Dao Fruit into Yunxi's mouth, using Dao Qi to guide it down into her abdomen. The powerful Revival energy activated hundreds of her Acupoints' potential. A hint of color returned to her face, and soon a strong heartbeat echoed in the air.
