To the east of the Central Plains and north of Mount Tai, a wave of heat swept across the land, igniting the forests and sending beasts fleeing and birds soaring.
The Sun Refining Cauldron, second only to the Great Zhou Compass among the Sacred Artifacts, possessed a power that shook the universe. With a single fury, it could scorch the earth for miles. The force contained within it, the Great Crimson Fire, was even stronger than the Five Poisons True Fire, capable of incinerating all things. Even Nangong Lin, who was wielding it for the first time, could slaughter numerous Yin Soldiers and Corpse Demons hidden in the mountains, nearly killing Huzi, who bore the body of a Dragon God.
Huzi lay on the ground, smoke rising from his body as he convulsed. His flesh was charred black, and the earth beneath him was searing hot. Grass and soil clung to his ruptured skin, creating a horrifying sight.
His skin cracked and healed repeatedly; dragon blood seeped out to mend his wounds while dragon scales emerged from his flesh to protect him, causing Huzi to writhe in agony.
Water Linglong's Spirit of Water continuously flowed into Huzi's body to heal him.
Even though Huzi was now a master of the Mahayana Realm with Dragon God's Blood coursing through him, had I arrived even a moment later, he would have been reduced to ashes by the Great Crimson Fire of the Sun Refining Cauldron.
Among the Eight Great Sacred Treasures of Taoism, the Great Zhou Compass ranked first, followed by the Sun Refining Cauldron. The Daoist Command Token, Water Moon Mirror, Everbright Lamp, Shuttle, Jade Purity Bottle, and Zhou Compass followed.
The Great Zhou Compass held its top position because it could discern yin and yang, speak of life and death, know past and future, measure fortune and misfortune, alter destinies of stars, serve both offensive and defensive purposes, and reverse battle situations.
The Daoist Command Token was a legacy passed down through generations of Dao Sovereigns. It could suppress other Supremes and extend lifespans. During the Dark Turmoil, countless masters fought over it until it was ultimately destroyed.
The Water Moon Mirror was a Sacred Artifact of Yaochi. It could reflect all Daoist Arts attacks; the stronger its wearer was, the more powerful the Daoist Arts it could defend against. It once placed Yaochi in an undefeated position.
The Everbright Lamp was originally a defensive Dao Tool refined by Pre-Qin Alchemists for centuries but was later reclaimed by Bodhidharma for the Buddhist Sect as a Sacred Artifact of Leiyin Temple, passing down through generations to this day.
The Shuttle was an ancient treasure of the Supreme from the demonic sect that later fell into the hands of the Serpent Cult's Serpent God. After a lifetime of refinement, it achieved incredible speed that could cover thousands of miles in a single day.
The Jade Purity Bottle was the treasure that protected Nanhai Guanyin Monastery. During the Dark Turmoil, an Old Supreme from Guanyin Monastery faced three opponents alone but ultimately led to the destruction of the Jade Purity Bottle.
Among the Eight Sacred Artifacts, the one with the greatest destructive power is the Sun Refining Cauldron.
In the Ancient Wilderness Era, before the rise of Refiners, ferocious beasts roamed freely, and a powerful race known as the Golden Crow emerged.
The Golden Crow was as renowned as the Kunpeng, soaring high with wings that spanned vast distances. Even the phoenix would fearfully avoid the Golden Crow, for it carried with it the Great Crimson Fire. Legends say that the Golden Crow was a magical bird that thrived near the sun, feeding on flames and radiating intense heat, leaving scorched earth in its wake.
The Golden Crow clan resided in the Western Region Mountains, making those mountains burn like fire during the barbaric era. Their bodies emitted an unparalleled heat, and when they took to the skies, they resembled the sun itself.
There were nine Golden Crows that wreaked havoc for an unknown duration, causing countless beasts to either perish or submit. In their presence, even powerful Refiners felt like ants; a mere glance from a Golden Crow could incinerate them, making it impossible to approach.
Until one day, a mighty figure known as Hou Yi emerged among the Refiners.
Hou Yi could split mountains with his hands and lift weights of a hundred thousand pounds with a single punch. He could destroy any Dao Tools with his bare hands. Many powerful Refiners gathered external Xuan gold and underground spirit ore to forge an unparalleled divine artifact known as the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow, along with a Cauldron.
To draw the bowstring of the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow required immense strength—at least a hundred thousand pounds. No one but Hou Yi could accomplish this; even several Supreme Refiners working together could not manage it. After forging the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow, Hou Yi finally drew back the bowstring and shot down all nine Golden Crows. However, the cost of using the bow was too great, ultimately leading to Hou Yi's exhaustion and death. After his passing, he was revered as the Emperor of Humanity, and thus the Sun-Shooting Divine Bow became known as Hou Yi's Bow, sealed away underground and never seen again.
After the nine Golden Crows were slain, they were placed into the Sun Refining Cauldron and burned for a hundred years before being completely refined. From then on, the Sun Refining Cauldron possessed the magical power of Great Crimson Fire and became a Taoist Sacred Artifact. Eventually, someone stole the Sun Refining Cauldron and released its Great Crimson Fire, nearly causing an apocalyptic inferno.
During that era, a Dao Sovereign who practiced fire techniques appeared. He possessed both a Daoist Command Token and a Great Zhou Compass and single-handedly prevented the calamity caused by the Sun Refining Cauldron. He contained the power of Great Crimson Fire from the nine Golden Crows within the cauldron and inscribed seals upon it. The patterns formed inside after their death resembled a Cultivation Method. This Dao Sovereign devoted himself to mastering this method until he perfected it and named it Sun Refining Technique.
On the day he succeeded in mastering Sun Refining Technique, he wished to test its power. No one knows exactly what happened next; however, he ultimately killed everyone who witnessed it to keep the secrets of the Sun Refining Cauldron hidden. Before his death, he revealed to his disciple that this technique within the Sun Refining Cauldron had enough power to destroy worlds and instructed him to seal it away so that it would not be passed down through generations.
Thus, for thousands of years, the Sun Refining Cauldron vanished until it was discovered by Serpent Cult's first Ancestor Master, Serpent God. During that time, no one dared oppose him as he ruled supreme among divine serpents. After examining the incantation within the Sun Refining Cauldron, he sealed it within a desolate mountain in Eastern Wasteland. The Nine Dragons Demon Suppression Formation was used to refine the Sun Refining Cauldron in hopes of eliminating its Sutra formation—a secret passed down through generations until Nangong Yun's era when he and Meng Xuanjian spent decades researching it before finally breaking through the formation and locating the Sun Refining Cauldron.
However, no one expected that Nangong Lin would be the first to use it. He merely forced himself to enhance his own powers using the Sun Refining Cauldron and unleashed Great Crimson Fire to wreak havoc everywhere, nearly annihilating Huzi in his rampage.
Nangong held Nangong Lin, whose life force was rapidly dissipating, his eyes filled with bloodshot fury as he shouted at me, "Did you not hear my voice? Why did you kill him!"
I coughed lightly, expressionless as I watched Nangong's hysteria. I pointed at Yun Xie'e and Douding, speaking softly, "Back then, I begged you all the same way to give them a chance to live. If anything happened, let it be directed at me. But in the end, you took their lives before me. If it weren't for Water Linglong and Zen Bodhisattva, they would already be dead. If you can find a way to save Nangong Lin, I can spare Immortal."
Yu Youya retorted angrily, "The Way of Power shattered Young Master's entire body. What can save him now?"
I turned to Yu Youya and said, "Yu Youya, allowing you to live until now is already merciful. If I wanted to kill you, even in front of Nangong, you wouldn't escape. So when I speak, you'd better keep your mouth shut."
"You!" Yu Youya's face turned pale, his voice trailing off.
Nangong Lin struggled against Nangong's embrace and pushed Nangong Dao away. "You monster."
Nangong's expression was pained as he replied, "Child, I am your father!"
Nangong Lin shot back, "I have no father like you. You personally killed my two brothers. I never intended to harm them; even a tiger does not eat its cubs. You sent Yu Youya to find me just to kill me."
"You’re talking nonsense! You are my only son and my most outstanding son! How could I ever kill you?" Nangong cried.
Nangong Lin's expression twisted with rage as he gripped Nangong's throat. In that moment of turmoil within him, the Dao Qi surged violently; Nangong's hand resting on Nangong Lin ignited with flames and suddenly shattered Nangong Lin's heart.
Nangong Lin bled from all seven orifices while Nangong laughed and cried simultaneously, appearing almost mad as he shouted, "What have I done? What have I done?"
Yu Youya tried to console him, saying, "Master, mourn your loss; the empire is what matters."
"What do you know!"
With a sharp slap, Yu Youya was sent flying. He stumbled to his feet and quickly knelt before Nangong, saying, "I deserve to be punished, please forgive me, Master!"
Nangong glared at Yu Youya and then turned to charge at me, the True Fire of Taiyi engulfing his body. He struck towards my chest with a palm. I stood my ground, my own Dao Fire igniting, merging with the Wudang Haoran Gang to form a fiery barrier around me. Nangong frowned as I pointed a finger at him, aiming for his forehead.
Nangong swung his Flame Whip at me, intending to slice me in half. Suddenly, I vanished from in front of him and reappeared behind him in the blink of an eye. The Fish Intestine Sword thrust towards his back. Nangong's fists collided with mine, unleashing an overwhelming Dao Qi that caused the ground to explode and sent me flying.
I landed lightly on my feet, the Righteous Qi shielding me from the Dao Qi of True Fire of Taiyi. As Nangong lashed out with his whip again, I activated Time Walk; he couldn't harm me at all.
When I first learned the technique of Time Walk, I couldn't use it continuously. However, as my skills improved, using it repeatedly became effortless. With this ability alone, I was already invincible.
Furious, Nangong struck at Yunxi, who was healing Huzi. Flames surged downwards; Tai Xu Ling immediately protected Yunxi. There was a dull thud as Yunxi spat out blood. I unleashed Rift Path against Nangong, forcing him to retreat and retract his Flame Whip.
I declared, "From the moment you killed them years ago, I vowed revenge. I, Yang Hao, will ensure the Serpent Cult is obliterated. I never expected retribution would come so swiftly. Today you dare to harm them before me again; you will ultimately die by my hand."
As I spoke, I suddenly summoned the Evil Weapon and slashed downwards. Nangong was taken aback and found himself unable to move. He pointed at Nangong Lin in the distance and retracted the Shuttle from him. The Shuttle expanded and enveloped Nangong within it. My Evil Weapon struck the Shuttle, leaving a sword mark on its surface; the Shuttle fell away as it knocked Nangong back violently, causing him to spit blood uncontrollably.
I shot a burst of Dao Fire towards Nangong Lin's corpse. "Now you can understand what it's like for others to lose their loved ones," I said coldly. "But someone like you, who calls himself a hero and claims invincibility, will soon forget the pain of losing a child and once again harbor ambitions against this Daoist Sect."
Nangong roared in fury and charged at me with incredible speed, almost teleporting as he tried to seize the Evil Weapon from my hands.
He swung the Evil Weapon at me with great force; Demonic Energy surged from his palm into his Meridians. His movements abruptly halted as the Evil Weapon fell to the ground. He staggered backward, his Meridians in chaos, his face trembling as he asked, "Why is this happening?"
"Did you think the Evil Weapon could be wielded by anyone? A single strike can kill a master of the Mahayana Realm; taking lives is like cutting grass but comes with a backlash from Demonic Energy entering your body," I replied coldly. "However, my Injury of the Dao is too severe; this backlash has no effect on me."
The Evil Weapon flew back into my hand as Nangong let out a furious roar. He suddenly grabbed Yu Youya and tore through space, disappearing from my sight.
Yunxi retracted the aura of Water Linglong at that moment. Her face was pale, and she appeared somewhat fatigued, her eyes looking utterly exhausted. It was evident that healing Huzi had taken a tremendous toll on her.
Just then, an inexplicable sadness enveloped my heart. A subtle ripple in the void emerged, and a rift opened behind Yunxi. A White Shadow surged forth, and Song Qianqiu thrust a sword through Yunxi's Heart from behind.
Standing within the void was the White-Robed Old Scholar, who was exceptionally skilled in Void Technique, capable of killing without anyone noticing.
"Sister Yunxi!" Douding exclaimed in shock as he saw Yunxi pierced by the sword. He rushed forward to catch the staggering Yunxi.
"Yunxi." My eyes welled up with tears as I called her name. "Why, why did you kill her?"
Song Qianqiu's expression was filled with excitement as he replied, "This woman dared to ride on my head from the very beginning at Azure Cloud Mountain. She tried to kill me several times; I feared she was formidable. Once bitten by a snake, one is afraid of rope for ten years. So I devised this plan. I never expected that with one swift move, she would be dead. Hahaha."
Song Qianqiu burst into laughter.
