On Zhongnan Mountain, a woman dressed in black sat quietly at the mountain's peak, her eyes closed in meditation. Beside her stood a wooden sword, which seemed to radiate an aura of a Divine Weapon, instilling fear in the hearts of the seasoned masters hidden within Zhongnan Mountain.
Song Qianqiu appeared at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain with a smile on his lips. He coldly declared, "Zhongnan Mountain is an ancient Taoist immortal mountain, a desolate ridge in the human realm. With all the old monsters here turned into my Puppets, who can stop my grand ambitions?"
With that, Song Qianqiu advanced into the mountain. Now practicing the Great Wilderness Scripture and the Demon King's Scripture, he had mastered the essence of time and could turn living beings into Corpse Demons under his control, having obliterated countless sects along his path.
He shook the Ghost Seal in his hand, and soon a group of expressionless Yin Soldiers appeared around him. Song Qianqiu instructed, "Split up and search for any masters; report back immediately if you find one."
The Yin Soldiers dispersed, and half an hour later, one returned to inform Song Qianqiu in ghostly tones that he had found an Ancient Cave.
Overjoyed, Song Qianqiu followed the Yin Soldiers to the Ancient Cave. The Spirit Energy within was abundant. Just as he was about to enter, a Golden Sword shot out from within the cave, nearly catching him off guard.
"Young man, you practice evil arts. You dare bring your Yin Soldiers to disturb my Cave; what is your intention?" an aged voice echoed.
Song Qianqiu replied, "I've killed at least eight or ten masters like you along my journey. However, their powers greatly diminished after death. If you are willing to submit to me, I can spare your life."
A strange sound emerged from within the Ancient Cave as an elder clad in a White Robe stepped out. He looked at Song Qianqiu and said, "You have a noble appearance. If you are willing to become my disciple, I might consider passing on my teachings to you."
Song Qianqiu shook his head and replied, "Old man, I won't hold a grudge for that last sword strike against you. Can you recognize your own situation?"
"The Old Man wishes to see just how capable you are!" The White-Robed Elder's Daoist Robe fluttered as he suddenly pointed at Song Qianqiu. A barely visible beam of light shot straight toward Song Qianqiu's heart.
In response, Song Qianqiu moved his right hand, creating a ripple of water before him. The beam struck the water ripple like a dragonfly touching down on water, creating a ripple that quickly vanished.
The White-Robed Elder frowned and asked, "Are you from the Yang Family?"
Song Qianqiu replied, "I belong to no family; I only ask if you wish to submit to me."
The White-Robed Elder snorted disdainfully and reached out with five fingers toward Song Qianqiu. Frowning slightly, Song Qianqiu felt no killing intent from the elder. Suddenly, a sound of breaking air pierced through; it was incredibly fast, sending chills down his spine. In that instant of pain, the Great Wilderness Scripture surged forth. In a flash, mountains and rivers froze in time—grass and trees stood still as did flying sand and moving stones; even beasts and birds were halted mid-motion as the White-Robed Elder's actions came to an abrupt stop.
Song Qianqiu broke out in a cold sweat. He took a step forward, feeling the blood soaking his back. Turning around, he saw the Golden Sword frozen in mid-air; no one could have expected the old man to use such a sinister move.
With the Golden Sword in hand, Song Qianqiu severed the old man's head. The Great Wilderness Scripture dissipated, and blood gushed from the old man's neck as a golden Nascent Soul burst forth from his body, its face filled with terror as it fled in panic.
"Run? Where do you think you can escape to?!" Song Qianqiu shouted as he pursued, the old man's Nascent Soul darting towards the highest peak of Zhongnan Mountain.
Moments later, atop Zhongnan Mountain, the old man's Nascent Soul called out to a woman in black from a distance, "Please, Goddess, save me! Someone is trying to kill me!"
The woman in black opened her eyes and looked at the old man with an expressionless face. "You are a powerful figure of the Dao Fruit Realm. How could you be chased to this extent?"
The old man's Nascent Soul replied, "That person can control Yin Soldiers and seems capable of erasing my consciousness. I don't know what happened; suddenly, my head was severed."
The woman in black said, "Such a master may not even be someone I can handle. Did you bring him to my secluded place thinking I have too much time on my hands?"
The old man's Nascent Soul responded, "I dare not presume, Goddess. Your skills are unparalleled and your swordsmanship unmatched. Everyone on Zhong Nanshan reveres you; I would never harbor any rebellious thoughts."
Not far away, hiding in the shadows, Song Qianqiu observed the old man seeking help from the woman in black. She appeared to be either at the peak of the Dao Fruit Realm or in the Mahayana Realm. As one progressed through the Nine Major Realms of Daoist Sect, the disparity in strength became increasingly pronounced. Lower-level individuals often misjudged the Dao Qi fluctuations of higher-level beings, but when Song Qianqiu saw the woman's face, he immediately shook his Ghost Seal and ordered the Yin Soldiers and Corpse Demon following him to retreat.
"Why is Rain Master Luo here?" Song Qianqiu murmured to himself. He gazed at Rain Master Luo's figure and her ordinary wooden sword with growing unease. He contemplated whether he should kill Rain Master Luo using the Great Wilderness Scripture.
Rain Master Luo was far too independent; capturing her would be impossible. If he could kill her and cultivate using what was recorded in the Demon King's Scripture, he could potentially create a powerful ghost king. However, if the time-stopping forbidden technique proved ineffective against her or if she managed to escape, the consequences would be dire.
Rain Master Luo was different from the Five Great Sect Leaders or even from the Supreme; she would undoubtedly become his greatest obstacle in enslaving the Daoist Sect as she grew stronger. With his current strength, Song Qianqiu could retreat unscathed even against any of the Five Great Sect Leaders, but he had no such confidence against Rain Master Luo.
Once hailed as Daoist Sect's greatest prodigy in a thousand years, Yang Long had been defeated by her with a single strike. Even though he had formed a perfect Nascent Soul within him thanks to her gift, it was still she who had bestowed upon him that power. The golden figure within him held a Dao Fruit radiating immense power; with perfect potential leading to a Dao Fruit and a Perfect Golden Core derived from both Yang Long and Yang Hao's essences mixed together, it was bound to give birth to astonishing Divine Abilities.
Yet at present, with his Dao Fruit still unripe and Divine Abilities yet to be comprehended, he felt apprehensive about engaging Rain Master Luo in battle.
A thunderous explosion jolted Song Qianqiu from his reverie, as the master of the Dao Fruit Realm, Nascent Soul, was crushed to pieces by Rain Master Luo's bare hands. Golden juice instantly stained the entire sky red, and the overwhelming Dao Qi scattered and returned to the earth.
Startled, Song Qianqiu emerged from the bushes, bowed respectfully to Rain Master Luo, and said, "Senior Sister Yu, I did not mean to disturb you."
Rain Master Luo, dressed in black, did not rise but glanced at Song Qianqiu and replied, "It’s you."
Song Qianqiu responded, "I was unaware that Senior Sister was here in seclusion. I apologize for the disturbance; please forgive me."
Rain Master Luo remarked, "I didn't expect that after just a few days, you have already become a strong practitioner of the Dao Fruit Realm. Yang Hao's Perfect Golden Core is indeed remarkable."
Song Qianqiu replied, "I must thank you for your assistance; it is because of you that I am where I am today."
Rain Master Luo continued, "The person you just saw was an old monster named Redbeard who has been cultivating on Zhongnan Mountain for over seventy years. He has been secretly observing me several times. Now that he is in trouble, he has brought his enemies here. I have already killed him. How is it that you can control Yin Soldiers?"
Song Qianqiu explained, "Senior Sister, I have been all alone and my cultivation has not been easy. Along the way, I have faced oppression from others and inevitably had to learn some self-defense techniques. The definitions of righteousness and evil are determined by people. However, I never intended to harm you in any way. If you are in trouble, I will do everything in my power to help you without hesitation. You are also an orphan; you should understand what I mean."
Sighing, Rain Master Luo said, "Very well. The conflicts between righteous and evil sects have nothing to do with me. Given that you have saved my life before, I will not ask further. I am currently cultivating on Zhongnan Mountain and have achieved perfection in Sword Momentum. I am in the process of breaking through to Sword Realm and do not wish to be disturbed by other matters. If there is nothing else, you may leave; Zhongnan Mountain is home to many reclusive masters who do not wish to get involved in Daoist Sect disputes. Spare them."
"Understood, Senior Sister. I will take my leave now," Song Qianqiu said.
Rain Master Luo called out to him again: "Redbeard has a pair of disciples known as Zhongnan Mountain Companions who specialize in the art of harmony but possess ill intentions. They are bound to hunt for young boys and girls' essence to replenish their own deficiencies. If you encounter them, kill them without mercy."
"Understood, Senior Sister. Take care," Song Qianqiu cupped his fists toward Rain Master Luo and then sighed with relief as he walked down the mountain.
Meanwhile, within the Sword Pavilion's Sword Furnace, numerous Swordsmiths were busy at work. In the center of the Sword Cauldron, ten Ancient Legendary Swords emitted a sound of sword cries that had persisted for quite some time.
It was difficult for ordinary fire to forge Divine Weapons. Previously, Mr. Ouyang and Eastern Nine Cities had encountered this problem. They thought they could melt these famous swords using regular Earth Fire but underestimated the power of the Top Ten Famous Swords.
Sword Pavilion is renowned as the top swordsmith, with exceptional skills in forging. Over the centuries, many famous swords have been crafted here, but none have reached the level of Top Ten Famous Swords or the Seven Star Sword, which are considered Divine Weapons. Flames are categorized into three types: the household Open Flame, the underground Earth Fire, and the fire used by cultivators. The Dao Fire of a cultivator evolves from Open Flame to Earth Fire and finally to fire.
Ordinary Open Flame can only forge regular weapons. To create renowned items like the Top Ten Famous Swords or famous Dao Qi treasures, one must use the intense heat of Earth Fire. Without it, inscriptions cannot be formed, and true Divine Weapons cannot be forged.
The Top Ten Famous Swords were forged using Earth Fire.
To create a Divine Weapon, Dongfang Jiu specifically sought out the Nine Nether Fire for Mr. Ouyang to use in melting down the famous swords. However, after burning for forty-nine cycles, the Ten Famous Swords still had not completely melted, and the Sword Soul within them could not be extracted.
Mr. Ouyang remarked, "Now that the body of the Ten Famous Swords is destroyed, if we do not have fire soon, not only will we fail to forge a Divine Weapon, but even the Ten Famous Swords will become worthless."
Dongfang Jiu looked grim, feeling a surge of anger. The sword forging process was highly secretive, and he did not want outsiders to know about it. After a moment of contemplation, he said, "Bring in Zhang Xing."
A short while later, Zhang Xing arrived at the Sword Furnace, respectfully calling out to his master.
Dongfang Jiu: "Without fire, a Divine Weapon cannot be forged. The only place with fire is the Refining Fire Hall of the Serpent Cult. Go find Nangong, and tell him I wish to collaborate with him."
