An hour ago, at Emei Mountain's Golden Summit, Emei Sect Leader Miao Shengnan led her disciples back to the Golden Mist Hall to heal and rescue the injured. The Emei Sect had suffered devastating losses, nearly facing extinction, and Miao Shengnan herself was gravely injured. The Emei Sect no longer possessed the strength of a major faction.
Guo Daozhen said, "The Supreme of the Serpent Cult has gone out to capture Douding. It has been several hours; that child must have already been caught."
Jiyao replied, "How could this happen? The disciples from Leiyin Temple came to inform us that the Three Great Monks sent Sky Master and Douding back. Could it be a trap?"
Guo Daozhen responded, "First, they notified Emei of the trouble, and Yang Hao brought you here. Then they sent the people from Leiyin Temple back. Clearly, it is a scheme. Douding is the reincarnation of the Living Buddha; the Machine Wall of the Serpent Cult must have received prophetic hints long ago. Moreover, the Three Great Monks' visit to the Western Divine Serpent Sect's main hall was detected by Nangong Yun, so they naturally went ahead to capture Douding."
"Who is Nangong Yun?" I asked.
Yang Sanqian explained, "Nangong Yun is the Supreme of the Serpent Cult and the biological father of Nangong. Like Old Scholar, he was already a master in the Mahayana Realm forty years ago; he must have entered the Tribulation Realm by now."
Guo Daozhen added, "Nangong Yun also has a nickname: Old Evil. If he takes action, aside from the Three Great Monks, no one can restrain him."
"Old Guo, can you calculate Douding's current location?" I inquired.
Guo Daozhen replied, "Douding is the reincarnation of the Living Buddha; his position is difficult to predict. Moreover, Nangong Yun is a Supreme; it cannot be calculated."
At that moment, Yunxi suddenly spoke up, "Tai Xu Ling once left a mark on Douding; it can find his location."
"Tai Xu Ling?" Guo Daozhen looked at the Tai Xu Ling in Yunxi's hand, seemingly contemplating a strategy.
Yunxi caressed Tai Xu Ling and said, "Go protect Douding."
Tai Xu Ling trembled and floated down from Yunxi, splitting open space as it drilled inside.
I remarked, "It’s definitely too late for us to rush over now unless we have a Thousand Li Talisman or Yang Family's Void Technique."
Guo Daozhen and Yang Sanqian exchanged glances. Although they both had learned Yang Family Daoist Arts, they had not studied Void Technique. Furthermore, traveling from Western Sichuan Emei to Dunhuang was thousands of miles away; even with a Thousand Li Talisman, it might not reach there in time. The Void Technique was even more unstable.
I couldn't help but think of my own Time Walk. When perfected, it could cover a thousand miles in a single step; however, such a long leap could lead to disastrous consequences if I encountered Void Turbulence.
Moments later, the void at the peak of Emei Mountain suddenly twisted. The crowd saw Yang Sanqian, Jiyao, and Guo Daozhen simultaneously unleash their power, gathering Dao Qi. Then, a burst of white light scattered, and a fierce wind swept through, causing a group of people to suddenly vanish from sight.
Miao Shengnan heard the commotion and stepped out from the Golden Mist Hall. Listening to the discussions among several disciples, she felt a sense of unease in her heart.
Miao Shengnan looked at the corpses of Emei disciples scattered across the mountains and the piles of Serpent Cult followers' bodies. She was troubled; if these bodies were to be dealt with, it would take at least several hours. If left unattended, Emei Mountain would become a Corpse Mountain, turning a sacred place into a graveyard.
An elder observed the scene below and said, "So it turns out that Yang Haoyuan's emergence from his infant state resulted in the massacre of all those disciples down there. This is simply terrifying; he can disregard all limits and kill at will?"
Miao Shengnan frowned slightly but did not elaborate further. Instead, she said, "Before darkness falls, everyone still alive must leave Emei."
"Master, are we really going to abandon Emei's foundation?" the elder asked.
Miao Shengnan replied sorrowfully, "Emei... what foundation is left?"
A thousand miles away, at the edge of a cliff in the desert, our group appeared from the void. My head throbbed painfully as if it might explode; my ears buzzed with a deafening sound. Three experts from the Mahayana Realm provided Dao Qi for me to perform Time Walk, allowing us to traverse a thousand miles in one step. Even they appeared pale.
"Iron Bull!" Five was the first to see Iron Hammer, which was already half-buried in yellow sand. Below Iron Hammer was a pit where someone pulled Iron Bull out. He was twisted and broken, his bones shattered.
Yang Sanqian stepped forward to check Iron Bull's pulse and said, "Fortunately, he wasn't hit by True Fire of Taiyi. Iron Bull has Mangshan's Chemical Martial Arts. Even with his meridians completely severed, he’s still alive."
As Yang Sanqian spoke, he took out a vial from his pocket and poured a blue pill into Iron Bull's mouth.
Guo Huaiyi remarked, "Dad, there's a smell of blood coming from below."
Hearing this, Guo Daozhen walked to the edge of the cliff and saw Chang Liulang clinging to a rock ledge. With a swift motion of his finger, Chang Liulang was pulled up.
"Liulang, are you alright?" Huzi asked.
Chang Liulang shook his head and pulled out a twisted heart-protecting mirror from his chest. His sternum had been completely shattered; his body was bruised and purple with blood clots.
Guo Daozhen said, "Nangong Yun is quite confident; it seems he can't even be bothered to use Daoist Arts for killing."
At that moment, Haikong and Meng Xuanjian appeared from around a corner of a dune, both exhausted after hours of fighting, their powers evenly matched.
Guo Daozhen remarked, "It looks like another unknown expert has emerged."
Meng Xuanjian also noticed the group on the cliff and chuckled, "Bald donkey, Old Man won't play with you anymore!"
With that, Meng Xuanjian ignited in red flames, which spread out and made him vanish.
Yunxi said, "Tai Xu Ling has found Douding."
Yunxi dashed deeper into the desert, and we quickly followed. Moments later, we arrived at a breathtaking sight beneath a cliff in the center of the desert that had yet to be eroded by wind and sand.
There sat Douding in a meditative pose, his entire being glowing gold, while Tai Xu Ling danced around his arms like a dragon.
Nangong Yun stood opposite Douding, looking puzzled and confused. He turned to us as we approached, snorted, and with a flick of his hand, soared into the sky.
"Old fellow, we came all this way. You’re not going to leave without saying a few words?" Guo Huaiyi called out to Nangong Yun as he transformed into dark clouds above.
Nangong Yun replied, "I understand the eagerness of youth to rush into reincarnation. I'll remember you; next time, you'll be my first target."
"Douding!" Huzi shouted as he moved toward Douding but was suddenly repelled by the golden light surrounding him.
"Be careful; Douding's current state is very unusual," I warned.
Haikong added, "It's Zen Bodhisattva. But I don't know why he can tap into Zen Bodhisattva's power without having found the Relic yet."
"It's simple. The Seven-Colored Relic you're looking for is on Nangong Yun. Being too close allows it to activate the hidden powers within him," Guo Daozhen said as he flew in from afar, carrying a Red-Clad Elder—none other than Meng Xuanjian.
Guo Daozhen threw Meng Xuanjian to the ground and said, "You still want to slip away under Old Man's nose even after being heavily injured? Hmph."
Meng Xuanjian replied, "I advise you not to touch Old Man. My Supreme has already come out of seclusion. If he finds out I’ve been captured by you, he will surely lead the followers to flatten Leiyin Temple."
"The Serpent Cult is no more; only a few are left barely hanging on, posing no threat."
"Father, why not let me deal with this old man?" Guo Huaiyi suggested.
I said, "First, take him back to Leiyin Temple. I have questions for him."
After that, I walked towards the nearly unconscious Qiongqi. Looking at the wounds on its back and abdomen that had been pierced through, I used Dead Tree's technique to channel Dao Qi into its body. The wounds began to heal at a visible rate. Soon, Qiongqi stood up, its body rapidly recovering.
"Wake Douding," I instructed.
Qiongqi and Douding were connected by their life force and could communicate through thoughts. Qiongqi let out a low moo. Douding's eyelashes fluttered slightly before he opened his eyes. Upon seeing me, he relaxed but then fainted again.
That night, in the backyard of Leiyin Temple, everyone was sleepless and had already taken a rest.
In the Ten Thousand Buddha Grotto, Douding on the altar occasionally emitted golden light, and the golden glow at his brow kept flickering. The elders of Leiyin Temple all showed worried expressions. Haikong asked, "Elders, what exactly happened to Shanshen?"
One elder replied, "Shanshen doesn't know why he can command Zen Bodhisattva. Perhaps it’s as the abbot said; being too close to the Seven-Colored Relic triggered the Zen Bodhisattva within him."
Another elder added, "The cost is a tremendous drain on his life force. If we don't seal the Golden Body in time, he might be consumed alive before long. But our powers are insufficient; we lack the ability."
"What about us?" Yang Sanqian asked.
An elder from Leiyin Temple responded, "The Divine Hero Couple and that person at the entrance are both experts of the Mahayana Realm; their powers are sufficient. However, they do not understand Buddhist Sect Cultivation Method. Buddhism and Taoism share origins but belong to different sects; sealing him recklessly would surely lead to complications. For now, we have no choice but to wait for the Three Divine Monks to return to the temple."
Currently, neither of the Three Divine Monks was in the temple. If they remained absent for too long, Douding would be in great danger.
I summoned the beast from the Qi Sea and said, "Bubble, use the Seven-Colored Bubble to protect Douding."
Upon hearing this, the beast flew towards the altar. It circled around Douding, shook his finger lightly, and seeing that he did not wake up, it spat out a Seven-Colored Bubble to shield him. The bubble shrank, gathering the golden light from Douding's body, and only then did his complexion regain some color.
The beast flew back to me, gesturing animatedly as it spoke a few words before settling on my shoulder, looking at everyone with a puzzled expression.
I said, "My spirit beast has temporarily sealed the fluctuations of the Golden Body within Douding. I just don’t know when the Three Divine Monks will return."
Haikong replied, "The three Shifu Uncles went to the Divine Serpent Cult Headquarters. I heard from Nangong Yun that they are trapped in an Array Formation; it’s uncertain if they can escape at this moment."
"Let’s wait until after tonight. Douding is not in serious danger for now. I have a bit of a headache, so I’ll take my leave," I said.
"Hao, are you alright?" Jiyao asked.
I shook my head and turned to walk out of the Ten Thousand Buddha Grotto. Wu followed me outside and asked, "Haozi, what’s wrong with you?"
"Just help me get back," I replied, touching my nose and realizing my hand was covered in blood.
