Seeing Zhang Ziling, the Wudang Sect Leader, sent flying over a hundred meters by the Five Element Sword, everyone displayed expressions of disbelief, as if they had seen a ghost.
It was important to note that Zhang Ziling, as the leader of the Wudang Sect and nearing seventy years of age, possessed at least Dao Fruit Realm power, possibly even Mahayana Realm. In contrast, Dongfang Yuqing's cultivation level seemed to be at most the early stages of Nascent Soul Realm, or perhaps still at Core Formation Stage. The disparity in their powers was immense; yet, Dongfang Yuqing was able to severely injure Zhang Ziling—something no one had anticipated.
"The Five Elements Sword Technique is truly formidable," someone exclaimed in astonishment.
"I've heard that the Five Elements Sword Technique is unpredictable, dividing into five single swords, dual swords, Three Swords, and four swords. The more swords involved, the harder it is to master, and the greater the power. When all five elements are unleashed together, even celestial beings and demons would retreat. It makes sense that it could defeat Zhang Ziling."
"What makes sense? Zhang Ziling used Righteous Qi! Righteous Qi is said to defend against all Daoist Arts attacks. This Five Elements Sword Technique is just too outrageous."
"Righteous Qi is for defending against Daoist Arts; how can it compare to swordsmanship? It is said that one sword can break all methods. The wielder takes offense as defense—if they do not cut down their enemies, they will not retreat. The Five Elements Sword Technique is an ancient reverse sword technique; although Righteous Qi has a great reputation, it cannot be compared."
As the crowd debated fervently, no one noticed that amidst the dust and debris, Zhang Ziling was seething with anger. He stood up from the ground, his Daoist robe torn and blood trickling down from his wrist.
Zhang Ziling declared, "The Five Elements Sword Technique is indeed incredibly domineering. However, even with five swords, you couldn't take this old man's life. Let's see how much longer you can keep jumping around. Today, I will take your life as a warning to those who disrespect their elders."
With that, Zhang Ziling spun his right hand, gathering sand beneath his feet into a sword and slashing toward Dongfang Yuqing. The swirling sand flew wildly as Dongfang Yuqing was forced to retreat under the onslaught of five swords ringing out in unison.
Cold sweat appeared on Dongfang Yuqing's face; he had already expended most of his Dao Qi using the Five Element Sword earlier and now felt somewhat overwhelmed.
"Five Elements Second: Sun and Moon Shine Brightly—Slash!"
The Golden Sword and Fire Sword—the two strongest swords from his cultivation method—merged into one to sever the massive sword formed from sand in Zhang Ziling's hand. As the sand sword reformed, Zhang Ziling pushed forward with another strike aimed at Dongfang Yuqing. The immense sword energy surged like a dragon toward him.
Dongfang Yuqing swiftly moved his hands; the Wood Sword, Water Sword, and Earth Sword spun rapidly in front of him, forming a flower of swords to defend against Zhang Ziling's sword energy.
The Three Swords clashed loudly as they were pushed back by Zhang Ziling's overwhelming force. With a roar, Zhang Ziling unleashed his Dao Qi from his palm with devastating momentum, causing the sand sword to surge forward like a tidal wave. The Three Swords shattered under the pressure as Dongfang Yuqing was violently pushed down the mountain.
Dongfang Yuqing stood up, expressionless, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. Five swords returned to their sheaths behind him.
Zhang Ziling snorted, his fingers moving as a disciple's long sword flew into his hand. The sword light surged violently, and the sword energy roared like a dragon.
On the mountain, the Elder of the Sword Pavilion said, "Sword Master, Young Master might not be able to withstand this strike."
Dongfang Jiu furrowed his brows, offering no instructions. Down below, Zhang Ziling swung his sword, shaking the mountains and splitting the earth. The ultimate manifestation of Wudang Sword Qi Slash. Dongfang Yuqing clenched his fists, his teeth gritted.
Amidst the dust and smoke, I stood in front of Dongfang Yuqing, dark energy swirling around me. Mysterious runes circled my body as a black halo spun behind me, resembling a Deity. My eyes were as dark as gemstones, fixed on Zhang Ziling.
A group of people was astonished, unsure of what was happening. On the mountain, Dongfang Jiu exclaimed with excitement, "This is the power of the Book of Life and Death! He has finally unleashed its power!"
Nangong's face also showed a hint of excitement as he said, "He can actually control the Book of Life and Death! It can indeed be controlled!"
"This child must be eliminated. Regardless of whether he is Yang Sanqian's son, if he grows stronger with the Book of Life and Death in hand, who could possibly contend with him?" Emei Sect Leader stated.
Nangong Dao replied, "Miao Master, there's no need to rush. Let's see just how formidable the Book of Life and Death truly is."
Down below, I looked at Zhang Ziling and said, "You force me to kill you."
Zhang Ziling responded, "So this is the power of the Book of Life and Death. You still cannot directly rewrite someone else's fate. Old Man will experience it firsthand."
With that, Zhang Ziling swung his sword towards me. The sword light soared as I threw a punch forward. The void trembled; runes exploded as Zhang Ziling's sword energy was shattered.
I activated Time Walk and appeared behind Zhang Ziling. He sensed my presence and swept his sword horizontally. I grabbed hold of his sword; its blade was pitch black, transformed into dark energy by the evil aura of the Book of Life and Death.
Zhang Ziling struck my chest with a palm, and I was jolted back, sending Zhang Ziling flying. Before Zhang Ziling could hit the ground, I appeared from thin air and stomped down, causing him to sink into the earth. The ground cracked open, and Zhang Ziling's eyes widened in terror as he formed hand seals and vanished underground.
I landed on the ground, carefully sensing the movements beneath me. Suddenly, a crack opened up at my feet. Clenching my fist, I let out a roar and unleashed Rift Path. The earth shook violently, and within a radius of several dozen feet around me, the ground was upheaved. Zhang Ziling was blasted out of the surface, spitting blood.
"Master!" Zhang Xing shouted as he swung his sword toward me.
"Get lost!" I shouted, slapping at the air towards Zhang Xing. He was struck against the cliff and fell to the ground, remnants of dark energy lingering around him.
The Wudang Elders descended like a flock of birds, surrounding me completely. They held swords in their hands, forming the Seven Stars formation with synchronized steps. Their sword techniques were as swift as lightning, leaving cuts across my body; however, those cuts quickly healed. I found myself trapped within the Sword Formation, unable to escape as my Daoist Arts seemed to be restrained.
I activated Time Walk and vanished from within the Sword Formation. One of the Wudang Elders unleashed a surge of sword light and suddenly slashed toward the center of the Sword Formation. My figure reappeared from within it, and that Elder scoffed, saying, "You think you can escape from the Seven Star Sword Formation using Void Technique? Fool's dream."
I clenched my fist and threw a punch; the power of Rift Path multiplied. The void split open, creating a gap as two Elders stepped aside. The punch's wind pressure turned several disciples dozens of feet away into mere fragments.
"Yang Hao, you are slaughtering innocents and cannot control your own power. Stand down now, and we may spare you Immortal," said the Emei Sect Leader.
I replied, "If you want me dead, you'll have to pay a price yourself."
With a punch from Rift Path, the earth erupted again, sending seven Wudang Elders airborne. I formed hand seals with both hands and slammed them onto the ground; black runes illuminated from below. "Escape," I commanded.
In my understanding of Daoist Arts learned from Martial Dao Classic, there are three types of escape techniques. The short-range escape technique was beyond my current capabilities; however, the Book of Life and Death greatly enhanced my strength, allowing me to execute it without issue.
The swords in the hands of the seven Wudang Elders slipped away as they moved in perfect unison. Seven swords flew off into the distance and buried themselves three feet into the ground. I soared out from the Sword Formation.
"This Seven Star Sword Formation is indeed difficult to deal with. At this rate, the power of the Book of Life and Death will dissipate in no time. Won't I be at their mercy then?" I thought anxiously.
"Kill this beast!" Zhang Ziling coughed and shouted loudly.
The Seven Star Sword Formation glowed brightly, and seven swords flew towards me, ready to strike.
"Nine Turns of the Infinite," I spun my body, causing the surrounding void to collapse, sending the seven swords flying back into the hands of the seven elders.
Everyone turned to look at a figure behind Nangong on the mountaintop. Zhang Ziling angrily said, "Yu Youya, when did your Nine Turns of the Infinite become someone else's signature move?"
Yu Youya replied, "It must have been learned from him when it was used last time at Azure Cloud Mountain."
"This child has been secretly learning from various sects. To avoid any further complications, I must take action," Emei Sect Leader Miao Shengnan said as she flew down.
"Master," Rain Master Luo called out, wanting to plead for Miao Shengnan to show mercy.
"Get lost!" Miao Shengnan shouted irritably, striking towards me. I countered with a palm strike, but her figure shattered.
I sensed movement behind me and suddenly counterattacked with a palm strike. Miao Shengnan's palm struck my chest, sending me flying and dragging along the ground for several meters.
"This is bad; the power of the Book of Life and Death is waning, nearly exhausted by the Seven Star Sword Formation," I thought to myself.
Currently, many sect leaders and elders were surrounding me. I had already warned them not to intervene; for the Five Great Sect Leaders, their involvement would be like an ant trying to stop a chariot.
"Let my boss go!" Iron Bull shouted as he charged forward with his big hammer but was tightly held back by Huzi.
I gasped for breath as the runes of the Book of Life and Death on my body began to fade. Miao Shengnan looked at me with disdain and said, "Even if it were the Book of Life and Death from the King of Hell, you'd still die if you had the Jade Emperor's book."
Miao Shengnan's figure shifted as she approached me, raising her palm to strike my head. I clenched my fists, ready to retaliate, but at that moment, a gray shadow appeared before me and intercepted her strike.
"Who are you?" Miao Shengnan stepped back, staring at the suddenly appeared elder.
The elder replied, "Miao Master, bullying a junior from the Daoist Sect in front of so many people is quite shameful for Arched Eyebrows."
Miao Shengnan retorted, "It's just killing an evil being; what's the difference between senior and junior?"
The elder asked, "Then may I ask what exactly he has done that is so evil?"
Miao Shengnan answered, "He has killed countless innocent disciples here with a single punch. At Yaochi Wuliangya, he even boasted about wanting to kill all the First Disciples of the Five Great Sects. Such arrogance deserves to be killed."
"If you didn't want to steal someone's Book of Life and Death and Martial Dao Classic, he wouldn't be insane enough to kill you for no reason," Wu said softly.
Miao Shengnan replied, "The Book of Life and Death and Martial Dao Classic are lower-tier treasures; they shouldn't be concentrated in one person's hands. Such treasures should belong to those capable of wielding them, not be hoarded by a treacherous person."
Wudao chimed in, "If that's the case, why not just give them directly to the Five Great Supremes? Wudang and Arched Eyebrows have no Supreme; why not just hand them over to Serpent Cult? What does Arched Eyebrows have to do with this?"
Miao Shengnan glared at Wu and shouted, "Are you looking for death? You immature brat dare to speak so boldly!"
Wudao shot back, "I'm already in my twenties. Though my development was late, I'm sure I've grown fully. Miao Master wouldn't be unaware of a man's development timeline, would you?"
"You’re asking for death," Miao Shengnan seethed with rage as she swung her sword at Wu. The elder in front of me deflected her blade and said, "Ghost Elder is not someone to be trifled with. He is alone except for this one plump disciple. Before you kill him, you might want to consider your own disciples from Arched Eyebrows."
Miao Shengnan hesitated, not because she didn't know who the Ghost Elder was. The old man turned around and said, "Follow me."
"Li Lao," I said, my expression filled with confusion. He seemed somewhat familiar.
A few months ago, Azure Cloud Mountain was destroyed, and Li Lao, an elder of the Outer Sect and the Scripture Repository, suddenly vanished. He didn't even show up when the Azure Cloud Sect was annihilated. I never expected to see him at this moment.
"Follow me; I'll take you to a place," Li Lao said.
Eastern Nine interjected, "Old man, you can't just take someone away without even a word of greeting. Isn't that a bit rude?"
Li Lao looked at Eastern Nine and replied, "Who can stop me from taking the person I want?"
"Arrogant," Dongfang Jiu said as he pointed his sword toward the sky and slashed at Li Lao. The sword's light pierced through the clouds and descended.
Li Lao waved his hand, and a massive palm appeared in the air, grasping Dongfang Jiu's sword light and violently dispersing it.
"Master Li Chang'an!" everyone exclaimed in shock.
"Isn't Li Chang'an dead?" someone questioned.
"He was the sworn brother of the Old Sect Leader of Azure Cloud Sect, Cloud Sea. He defeated countless opponents in his time and was known as the greatest talent beneath the Supreme. It was rumored that he fell into demonic ways and was slain by the Old Scholar. Who would have thought he was still alive?"
