A group of people looked up at the woman who had suddenly arrived above Mountain Valley. She gazed at me calmly and then nodded to the Emei Disciples.
"That's Rain Master Luo, the Female Sword Saint of Arched Eyebrows. It's said that her skills are extraordinary, reminiscent of the Old Sword Saint from back in the day, capable of reviving the glory of Arched Eyebrows," someone commented.
"Then it seems we have a good show ahead. I wonder if Rain Master Luo will try to seize the Millennium Purple Ginseng."
"Who knows? Even the Wudang Twins were defeated by Yang Hao. We don't really know how powerful Rain Master Luo is. Over the past few years, there have been rumors about several prominent figures in various sects: the Wudang Twins, the Female Sword Saint of Arched Eyebrows, Azure Cloud Song Qianqiu, Divine Serpent Sect's Nangong Lin, Sword Sect's Dongfang Zhen, and Yinshan Yang Family's Yang Long. What exactly makes them so formidable? Have they ever faced off against each other?"
"While they haven't competed directly among themselves, there are connections between sects. Sometimes disciples spar with each other, and some rogue cultivators challenge them for guidance. These individuals usually only need a simple move to handle those so-called experts. The Wudang Twins are exceptional; their sword energy can slice through anything. Song Qianqiu is talented and virtuous, but his reputation took a hit after the Qingyun incident. Dongfang Zhen is ruthless and has killed many. As for Yang Long from Yin Mountain, I haven't heard much about him; he might just be a sheltered flower. And Rain Master Luo from Arched Eyebrows seems to lack any record of battling her peers; after all, as a woman, she should also be a sheltered flower, and besides, she's not particularly attractive..."
I looked up at the beautiful Female Sword Saint Rain Master Luo above Mountain Valley and called out, "Isn't the senior sister from Arched Eyebrows here to snatch the Holy Medicine?"
Rain Master Luo glanced at me indifferently before turning away without a word.
The female disciples from Arched Eyebrows, led by an older woman among them, headed deeper into Rear Kunlun. The crowd began to disperse and soon everyone had left.
I pulled Zhou Manman in front of everyone and said, "This is Zhou Manman, my girlfriend."
"Nice one!" May Day grinned mischievously.
Huzi greeted Zhou Manman, saying, "Manman, good to see you again."
Zhou Manman nodded back, "Good to see you too, Huzi."
"Master, what should I call her? Sister or Mistress?" Iron Bull scratched his head and asked.
Everyone chuckled as Five asked, "Where did you find this big fool?"
"I found him under a Mountain Valley in Yaochi," Iron Bull replied innocently.
I said, "Iron Bull, just call me boss from now on; no need to call me master."
"Understood, Boss!" Iron Bull said.
I replied, "Let me introduce you. This is my new disciple, Zhu Xi, known as Iron Bull from now on. And this is my partner, Li Hu, whom I call Huzi..."
I introduced everyone to each other. From now on, we would be comrades in adversity. I took out the Millennium Purple Ginseng and said, "Huzi, five, this Holy Medicine is yours first. You can divide the Holy Medicine among yourselves and start refining it now; I will act as your Guardian."
Huzi said, "How can that be? The Holy Medicine was obtained by you; it should be you who refines it."
I responded, "I've already consumed a portion of the Holy Medicine. Using more would only forcefully increase my power without stabilizing my realm, which wouldn't benefit me much. Manman just refined a piece of Holy Medicine not long ago; using another one in a short time won't have much effect. Your cultivation is still too weak; it's not advisable to take too much. You should consume one-third of the Millennium Purple Ginseng, while five should take two-thirds since his foundation is more solid than mine. This kind of Holy Medicine won't be a challenge for him."
"What about Brother Iron Bull?" Huzi asked.
Iron Bull waved his hand and said, "I don't need it. I'm strong enough; you all should take what the boss gives you."
I explained, "Iron Bull's cultivation level is at the late stage of Divine Transformation Realm like May Day, but right now the potency of the Holy Medicine isn't sufficient. We need a master at the Core Formation Stage. I still have an eight-hundred-year-old Tai Sui; I'll take a portion for Iron Bull to help him perfect his Divine Transformation Realm in preparation for forming his core. We'll find more Holy Medicine later for Iron Bull."
Through countless Taoist classics, I knew that cultivators experience a significant transformation when transitioning from Divine Transformation Realm to Core Formation Stage—this involves condensing their Soul into a core, requiring immense strength and willpower along with resources. Many have stagnated in their cultivation due to mistakes made during this step; some elders of the Qingyun Sect have remained stuck at Core Formation Stage.
At the early stage of Core Formation Stage, an internal elixir related to the cultivator's Soul strength, physical quality, talent, comprehension, cultivation method, and resources condenses within them—this elixir is known as the Golden Core.
Golden Cores are classified into ten levels: levels one to three are ordinary quality; levels four to six are outstanding quality; levels seven to nine are flawless quality; and level ten is theoretically the Perfect Golden Core. In ancient times, there was an unparalleled genius who cultivated a perfect Golden Core due to his exceptional talent and high comprehension—he had a powerful Soul and flawless cultivation methods and elixirs. Many coveted his Perfect Golden Core, and although he eventually became a Daoist Grandmaster, he was ultimately killed by others.
In Daoist sects, this phenomenon is referred to as jealousy.
Throughout history, Daoist Grandmasters typically condense flawless internal elixirs when transitioning from Divine Transformation Realm to Core Formation Stage. Most commonly they achieve Seventh-Rank Golden Elixirs or Eight-Tier Golden Elixirs; those with Nine-Tier Golden Elixirs can become supreme talents known as Dao Sovereigns. All Underworld Sect members bow before them; their words can easily change rulers, and no cultivator dares disobey.
A first-tier Golden Core is nearly indistinguishable from a useless core; its cultivator will remain stuck at the early stage of Core Formation Stage forever. Second-tier and third-tier Golden Cores are also ordinary quality; reaching the late stage of Core Formation Stage is their limit. However, fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-tier Golden Cores are outstanding cores that allow their possessors to cultivate to Nascent Soul Realm or Dao Fruit Realm without issue. If they encounter fortuitous events, they might even become Daoist Grandmasters at the Great Ascension level.
That’s why I was so cautious about leaving two-thirds of the Millennium Purple Ginseng for five—he's already at the late stage of Divine Transformation Realm. As long as he consumes the Holy Medicine, he will surely break through his cultivation shackles and condense his Golden Core.
We found a secluded mountain range with a flat rock halfway up where we prepared to refine the Millennium Purple Ginseng.
I took out some herbs I had gathered from Qi Sea earlier and brewed a potion based on the recipe from Nourishing Soul Fruit that strengthens Meridians for five, Huzi, Iron Bull, and Zhou Manman to consume. Then I took out Tai Sui from Qi Sea for them to refine.
After refining the Tai Sui, Iron Bull said, "Boss, I've never seen a medicinal herb with such abundant Spirit Energy. Compared to this, the herbs my master used before were practically like straw!"
I replied, "Eight hundred years of Tai Sui is extraordinary. Although its potency isn't as strong as Holy Medicine, it's enough for you to stabilize for a while. After that, use Millennium Purple Ginseng to make a breakthrough."
Huzi opened his eyes in surprise and said, "I think I shouldn't use it. I feel like my Qi Sea can't hold any more Dao Qi, and the Spirit Energy in my Meridians is already saturated. After all, I've only been cultivating with Uncle Yang for less than three months. This rapid progress is beyond what can be described as talent; won't it be too fast?"
I handed a third of the Millennium Purple Ginseng to Huzi and said, "There's danger with others, but not with me. Just endure it."
The insights from the Martial Dao Classic made me understand many secrets of the Daoist Sect. Forcefully enhancing one's realm with medicinal power carries great risks, but as long as it's monitored properly, there shouldn't be any issues.
Hearing this, Huzi didn't say anything more and swallowed half of the purple ginseng in one go. Soon, his complexion turned extremely poor, and blood began to flow from his nose. Wiping the blood away, Huzi said, "Why do I feel like I'm poisoned? Is it really okay?"
"If you keep talking nonsense, you're definitely going to explode," I warned.
Upon hearing this, Huzi quickly calmed himself and began to refine the ginseng's medicinal power.
I noticed veins bulging on his forehead; his strong physique was tensed up, and bruises resembling purple ginseng appeared on his skin.
Iron Bull remarked, "Boss, it looks like Huzi's veins are about to burst; they're turning purple."
"Stop being ridiculous," I replied.
Suddenly, Huzi opened his eyes and glared at Iron Bull. "How old are you to call me 'brother'?" Iron Bull answered, "I'm seventeen this year; I'll be eighteen by the end of the year."
Pfft!
Huzi spat out a mouthful of old blood. I quickly placed my hand on his back, using powerful Dao Qi to help him regulate his Meridians and stabilize his Spirit Energy.
"Iron Bull, go over there and walk around! Do you want to make Huzi angry?" I scolded.
"Oh," Iron Bull replied obediently. He scratched his head and walked away while muttering, "But I really am seventeen; my master says I look older than my age. Actually, I'm not in a hurry at all."
After stabilizing Huzi's Meridians, I looked at Wudao, who appeared dazed. "What are you still doing? Refine the Holy Medicine! Weren't your eyes shining just a moment ago?"
"But..." Wu's face was troubled. "I don't want to die yet. Can we wait until Huzi has results before I refine it?"
I snatched the Millennium Purple Ginseng and stuffed it into Wu's mouth. With no other choice, he had to swallow the purple ginseng in large gulps and began to refine its medicinal properties.
Soon, cold sweat appeared on Wu's face. His body trembled, his complexion shifting from red to pale. The potency of the Holy Medicine made his skin quiver slightly. I frowned as I watched blood beads emerge from his pores; it seemed I had underestimated the potency of the purple ginseng.
I pressed my hand on the back of Wu's neck and drew out the purest Dao Qi from my Qi Sea to assist in refining the Holy Medicine. I continuously transformed the Spirit Energy contained within the medicine into Dao Qi, and Wu's Qi Sea quickly became saturated. The Dao Qi began to surge into his Meridians and various Acupoints.
As I diligently observed, fearing any mistakes, by midnight, Huzi suddenly let out a long howl. A beam of white light burst forth from his body, and Huzi's Soul soared into the air, filled with excitement as he gazed at his glowing form, overwhelmed with joy.
Seeing that I was the only one looking up, Huzi asked, "Hao, can you see me?"
I nodded. Everything related to Soul and Spirit was laid bare before me. I wasn't sure if it was due to the Zhou Compass, the Book of Life and Death, or something inherent within myself.
I said, "Fly to the mountain peak and absorb the Spirit Energy under the Starlight; it will be greatly beneficial for you. I'll teach you a method to absorb Spirit Energy that is very useful."
I transmitted a technique suitable for absorbing moonlight and surrounding mountain Spirit Energy to Huzi so he could begin practicing. He had just entered the Divine Transformation Realm and needed to stabilize his cultivation.
Everyone's path in cultivation is different. My achievements came after a narrow escape, while Huzi learned martial arts under Li Fugui's protection and studied Dao under Divine Hero Yang Sanqian's guidance. He wasn't foolish; his rapid progress over just a few months was due to having extraordinary masters guiding him. Therefore, for Huzi, advancing too quickly wasn't necessarily a good thing, and I worried he might encounter problems.
Wu was still in the process of refining the Holy Medicine but had been teetering on the edge of the Divine Transformation Realm for quite some time. His Meridians had ruptured one after another, about to break through the last one to condense his Golden Elixir.
Half an hour later, golden light suddenly radiated from Wu's body, accompanied by popping sounds from within him like bubbles bursting. Wu opened his eyes as Huzi’s Primordial Spirit returned to him, and Zhou Manman rushed over to ask how Wu was doing.
Wu looked inward and saw a Golden Elixir floating above his Qi Sea. He asked, "How do you determine its grade?"
I glanced at Wu's Qi Sea and saw the Golden Elixir rotating above it, emitting a faint purple glow. "Not bad; it's my flawless inner elixir—Grade Seven Golden Elixir."
Wu laughed heartily. "Of course! It can't be worse than my master's. That old man only has a mere Grade Six Golden Elixir—just an outstanding grade!"
Huzi asked, "Hao, what’s the difference between these grades?"
I replied, "The greatest difference lies in Dao limitations; a Grade One Golden Elixir can never advance further. Consuming large amounts of materials is a waste. As long as one works hard with a Nine-Tier Golden Elixir without dying halfway through their journey, they will inevitably become a Daoist Grandmaster in the future. Ordinary Daoist Arts can surpass those who use forbidden techniques at Grade One Golden Elixir cultivation."
"Is that so? There are so many restrictions on Cultivation. What limitations does the Fifth-Seventh Grade Golden Elixir have?"
I replied, "Put in a little effort, and in twenty years, you could become a Daoist Grandmaster. If you sleep, you'll definitely turn into a Fat Pig."
"I'm already on a diet, okay? You're the pig," Wudao retorted.
Just then, Iron Bull's voice echoed from afar as he shouted, "Boss, it's bad! Run! The beasts are coming!"
"What’s so scary about the beasts? Just stepping into the Divine Transformation Realm gives us targets to practice on," Huzi said excitedly.
The ground trembled with a thunderous roar. Huzi's voice faltered as he weakly asked, "How many are coming?"
Iron Bull replied, "I didn't have time to count. Just run! They're everywhere!"
I leaped to the mountain peak and looked into the distance. I initially thought Iron Bull had provoked some beast while playing around, but it seemed otherwise. A horde of beasts was sweeping toward us; as they advanced, rocks crumbled, and Land, Sea, and Air were all filled with beasts. Ancient trees snapped, and flowers and grass were utterly destroyed.
I saw some members of the Daoist Sect trampled to death by the beasts, while others were devoured. The speed of the crowd was no match for the slaughtering pace of the beasts.
"These beasts must have been frightened by something or received some command. We need to leave quickly."
