Human Sacrifice
In the Kunlun Yaochi region, deep within the cave of the Gorge, I quickened my pace to follow behind Song Qianqiu and the other two. Song Qianqiu held something resembling a map in his hand, leading the Sword Princess and Cao Bohou further inside.
They were heading downward, and the air grew colder with each step.
After half an hour, the three finally came to a stop. Song Qianqiu took out several wooden plugs from his waist. He ignited one with Dao Fire, and the plugs scattered around, illuminating the entire space.
Above us hung a massive stalactite, beneath which was a cluster of crystalline substance that resembled white jade, looking remarkably like Medicine King's ointment.
"Senior Brother, is this your Lingyun Stalactite?" Cao Bohou asked.
"Indeed," Song Qianqiu replied. "Yaochi has had this underground cave for hundreds of years. The ceiling is arranged with a spiritual formation that specifically absorbs Mountain Essence from above Yaochi. Every hundred years, it produces a drop of holy liquid, refining the Dao Body and expanding the Qi Sea. Its uses are endless, and only the sect's holy maidens can utilize it."
"Since that's the case, how did you come to know this secret, Senior Brother?" Cao Bohou inquired.
"A Yaochi elder once had ties with the Old Sect Leader of Azure Cloud Sect. Twenty years ago, when Yaochi was destroyed, that elder informed the Old Sect Leader and provided him with a map. Before he died, the Old Sect Leader passed that map to his eldest disciple, who is now the Grand Elder. The Grand Elder kept this secret hidden on himself until it ultimately came to me."
Cao Bohou remarked, "Senior Brother is truly favored and possesses exceptional talent. After being baptized by the holy liquid from Lingyun Stalactite, you will surely surpass all disciples of Daoist sects."
The Sword Princess added, "Congratulations on acquiring this treasure, Senior Brother."
As Song Qianqiu collected the holy liquid beneath the Lingyun Stalactite, he said, "You need not be anxious. As long as you remain loyal to me, I will naturally share this holy liquid with you. Right now, disciples from various sects above Yaochi should be gathering herbs in the mountains. There will also be plenty of good things in Yaochi Great Hall; after all, it was once one of the most glorious of the Five Supreme Sects. We should hurry back."
Cao Bohou and the Sword Princess nodded in agreement. Once Song Qianqiu finished collecting the Holy Medicine, they followed him out of the cave.
I hesitated for a moment about whether to strike in the darkness. Killing Cao Bohou and the Sword Princess would not be a problem; however, I wasn't sure about taking down Song Qianqiu. His Dao Qi fluctuations indicated he was at Core Formation Stage—much stronger than I was—and I still didn't know what kind of Cultivation Method or Daoist Arts he practiced. If a fight broke out, I couldn't guarantee victory; even with various means at my disposal as a newcomer, it wouldn't necessarily ensure success against him. Although I had thoughts about the holy liquid, my purpose for coming to Kunlun Yaochi was to find my estranged mother; there was no need to engage in a deadly struggle with Song Qianqiu at this moment.
Once outside the cave, they followed the mountain path toward the palace at the summit when suddenly an explosion erupted. The ground shook violently as part of Yaochi Palace's main hall was blown away. Disciples leaped into the hall as if competing for something.
"The barrier of Yaochi Great Hall has been breached," Song Qianqiu said. "I'll go ahead; you two hurry and catch up."
Song Qianqiu leaped swiftly above the Gorge, stepping on the air as if it were a staircase, making a popping sound beneath his feet as he soared higher and higher, heading straight for Yaochi Palace.
"Wudang's Cloud Ladder Technique, an unparalleled skill not even found in the Scripture Repository—how could he possess it?" I recognized the technique Song Qianqiu was using; it was the Wudang Sect's Ultimate Technique, described in many Taoist Classics for its remarkable agility.
Cao Bohou watched Song Qianqiu's retreating figure and sighed, "Ah, our Senior Brother is so much stronger than us. He has acquired numerous Cultivation Methods and Ultimate Techniques along his journey. Following him yields no benefits for us. What's the point? Sister, why not just find another sect to join? With our talents, we could easily become core disciples in the Inner Sect of Arched Eyebrows or Wudang."
The Sword Princess replied darkly, "Let's wait and see. With Qingyun destroyed, following Song Qianqiu puts us at odds with the Serpent Cult. We must tread carefully."
Cao Bohou nodded and watched as the Sword Princess also leaped above the Gorge. He bent down to jump but suddenly fell back down.
My Silver Thread wrapped around Cao Bohou's ankle, pulling him down. When he turned to see me, his face was filled with surprise. "You're still alive?"
I touched my nose and said, "Yeah, I'm tough to kill."
Cao Bohou chuckled lightly. "You really are walking into danger where there's none! Back at Azure Cloud Sect, I couldn't kill you and you managed to escape by luck. Instead of farming in the countryside, you dare come here to provoke me? You didn't bring friends along for revenge, did you?"
I replied, "That is indeed my intention. Back at Azure Cloud Mountain, you targeted me repeatedly and conspired with Song Qianqiu to harm me—I remember everything."
"A worthless fool who has barely entered the Dao for less than a year—your words are truly laughable! To kill you, I need only one punch!" Cao Bohou declared as he threw a punch at me, the wind from his fist carrying a force of profound Dao Qi that was unstoppable.
I clenched my own fist and invoked an Incantation. Suddenly, my body felt as if it were encased in glass; my fist tightened as a creaking sound surrounded me.
With one punch thrown out, the air around me cracked like glass under immense pressure. Cao Bohou's eyes widened as his skin split open; within less than a second, his figure shattered into pieces. Not just flesh but even bones were reduced to dust.
"The Rift Path possesses such tremendous power; no wonder it is classified as a forbidden technique by Longhu Mountain and hidden away," I thought while looking at my fist but felt no sense of injury from it. "Combined with my Holy Body and overwhelming strength, the Rift Path suits me perfectly."
The Gorge beneath Yaochi Great Hall was not just one place but a labyrinth of layers upon layers. At this moment before me, the might of my punch had carved out a path leading deep into the innermost part of the Gorge.
In the distance, I heard a sound cutting through the air. Standing below the Gorge, I looked up to see someone flying toward me—it was none other than the returning Sword Princess.
Upon seeing me, Sword Princess frowned and said, "It's you?"
"I didn't expect to see you here," I said.
The Sword Princess snorted, "Indeed, I didn't expect you would come here to seek death."
I replied, "Cao Bohou just said the same thing."
"Where is he?" the Sword Princess asked.
I pointed to the bloodstains on the ground. "If you look closely, you might still find him."
"You killed him?" the Sword Princess inquired.
"It's obvious," I said. "He only needed one punch to kill me, and I gave him one punch in return, and then he went to the west."
"Nonsense! If I had killed you, it would save me from wasting time!" The Sword Princess drew her sword from behind and slashed at me.
I leaped back, and my Silver Thread shot out. The Sword Princess was quick; she severed my Silver Thread with a single stroke. Then, with a horizontal sweep of her sword, I spun in the air a few times as several fierce beams of sword light cut through the air, causing the mountains behind me to explode in a cloud of dust.
"Where's my Fish Intestine Sword? Why don't I see you carrying it?" My Fish Intestine Sword was exquisite. Ever since I handed it over to Elder Hong when I joined the Azure Cloud Sect, it had been on my mind. I always thought about reclaiming it. Now, I no longer had to fear those who bully the weak and fear the strong.
"Dream on if you think you'll get that sword!" The Sword Princess pouted and slashed at me again.
Three beams of sword light grazed my face just barely as I dodged. The Sword Princess closed in, thrusting her sword at me. I grabbed the tip of her sword with my right hand and tried to bend it to break it. However, the sword bent but did not snap. Reluctantly, I let go and tapped her long sword lightly.
The Sword Princess's wrist went numb, nearly causing her to drop her sword. Enraged, she thrust again toward my chest. I secretly activated the Rift Path's Incantation and pointed at her long sword. Suddenly, a crack appeared on her sword. Gritting her teeth, she did not retreat; when her long sword made contact with my protective Dao Qi, it shattered into pieces.
However, as her long sword broke apart, another sword emerged from within—my Fish Intestine Sword!
The Fish Intestine Sword was known as the assassination sword and was rumored to have been forged by the ancient master Ou Yezi. However, due to its primary use for assassination, its reputation wasn't great; thus, it did not rank among the Top Ten Famous Swords.
"Now that's impressive! You actually hid the Fish Intestine Sword within your own magic sword, creating a mother-and-child sword pair. If it weren't for my keen eyes, I would have truly fallen for your trick," I said as I looked at the Sword Princess.
"Go to hell!" the Sword Princess shouted, her figure rushing towards me like the wind once again.
Just three fingers' distance from my heart, I still looked at the Sword Princess with a calm expression. She was overjoyed, believing that even if I wanted to dodge now, it would be impossible.
But suddenly, my figure vanished without a trace.
The Sword Princess stumbled, nearly falling over. Not seeing me anywhere, she shouted, "If you have the guts, come out! What kind of skill is it for a big man to hide? I..."
Her voice abruptly cut off as I appeared behind her, grabbing her hair and swinging her around before slamming her heavily to the ground. The Sword Princess screamed in agony, her face covered in blood. She clutched at her hair, trying to make me let go, but I raised my arm and slammed her down again, shaking the earth and breaking her bones. Much of her scalp was torn away along with her hair.
"Please, don't kill me," came the terrified voice of the Sword Princess. She was in a pitiful state, completely stripped of her previous arrogance, her face a bloody mess that obscured her features.
I stopped my movements and released her hair, coldly saying, "Did you not think about this when you targeted me at Azure Cloud Mountain? You played a part in the destruction of Azure Cloud Mountain and the death of Yunxi."
The Sword Princess cried, trembling as she crawled to my feet. Completely frightened out of her wits, she pleaded, "Let me go, please let me go."
I swung my hand and sent her flying; the scattered branches on the ground pierced through her body, pinning her above the Gorge.
I picked up the Fish Intestine Sword from the ground and withdrew my Qi Sea as I walked towards Yaochi Great Hall.
