The Elder saw my interest in the Cultivation Method and asked, "What type of Cultivation Method are you interested in? Offense or defense? Body techniques or spells?"
I replied, "I am particularly interested in body techniques. However, I have heard that the Azure Cloud Sect possesses the Ultimate Technique, the Azure Cloud Sword Classic. I wonder if I could learn it?"
The Elder said, "To be honest, the Azure Cloud Sword Classic is a treasured sword manual of our sect. Apart from the Sect Leader and the next generation of inheritors, no one else can learn it. Even I cannot comprehend it. However, I do have a higher-level body technique manual that you can study. Follow me."
I followed the Elder into his Pavilion. Inside, there were various flowers and plants, along with a pile of barley growing by the wall. Although the Elder held a high position and was deeply respected by his disciples, the other Elders did not look favorably upon him. Yet, he was not someone who used his martial prowess to intimidate others; despite his high level of skill, he had never punished anyone. Otherwise, when Iron Baldy was killed at Birch Mountain, Song Qianqiu would not have had to step in to handle things for him.
I stood in the courtyard waiting. After a while, the Elder emerged from his room and handed me an extremely old book, saying, "In the Daoist World and Celestial Mountain Blessed Land, ancient tombs and mysterious caves often hide supreme treasures. This Cultivation Method is something I discovered in a cave during my youth. Even now, I still cannot understand it; all I know is that it is a body technique Cultivation Method."
I held the book tightly in my hands, frowning because I could not understand any of the words on it. Was this just a trick? However, when I used the insights from the Martial Dao Classic to read through the book, its appearance changed before my eyes. This was a Cultivation Method called Time Walk; when perfected, one could travel a thousand miles in a single step!
Although the descriptions in the Cultivation Method were exaggerated, it must be unusual if it could be discerned by the Martial Dao Classic. I often heard that the ultimate body techniques in the Daoist World allowed one to skim over water or cross rivers on a reed; these were methods that elevated Daoist Sect's lightness techniques to their peak. Since Daoist practitioners cannot fly, everyone dreams of being able to traverse through emptiness like immortals.
For thousands of years in the Daoist World, although Daoists cannot ride the wind and soar through the air, they created the Thousand Li Talisman. This talisman allows for instant teleportation over vast distances using pre-placed marks. The Time Walk method could achieve this at its peak; even if there were exaggerations involved, it likely wasn't far from reality. At least if I could master a body technique as remarkable as Cloud Ladder Leap, I would be satisfied.
Strangely enough, I could only comprehend the first tenth of this Time Walk technique; after that, it became incomprehensible!
In truth, I had only learned up to the Entry-Level Realm from Martial Dao Classic and had not progressed further. Understanding even one-tenth was already quite challenging; to grasp anything beyond that would likely require assistance from Martial Dao Classic itself. But everyone desired to possess Martial Dao Classic; after Zhang Jianzi obtained it, he was pursued everywhere and now no one knows where his Dao Body is.
Even so, I instantly understood the basics of Time Walk; its initial level was far superior to Wind Spirit Technique by at least tenfold!
Seeing me lost in thought, the Elder said, "If you don't want this Cultivation Method, I can offer you something else. Since I can't comprehend much of this Cultivation Method myself, I'm sure you won't either. It's not that I'm unwilling to give you good things as an elder; I've hoped for years that someone would understand it because it's a pity for it to be lost. Even my disciple Song Qianqiu couldn't understand it. Shall I give you something else?"
"No, thank you very much Elder! I'll take this one," I quickly replied. "May I ask where you obtained this Cultivation Method?"
The Elder said, "When I was young, I went to the Daoist temple at Wangwu Mountain with the Old Sect Leader. We accidentally stumbled into a Cave of Blessings. Inside, there was nothing but this Cultivation Method. Over the years, many people have looked at it and found it incomprehensible. Can you understand it?"
I replied, "Elder, to be honest, I can understand it, but only a little bit at the beginning. It is very beneficial for my movement technique. Once I study it further and figure out more, I will definitely tell you what this Cultivation Method is all about."
Hearing that I could understand it, the Elder's face lit up with joy. He said, "It's good that you can understand it. The treasures of the Daoist Sect are meant for those capable of grasping them. Your ability to comprehend it is a blessing for you. You don't need to tell me; I wonder if you could demonstrate it so that the Old Man can have his eyes opened!"
I nodded and quietly activated the Time Walk Cultivation Method. With a single step, I seemed to flash in place, suddenly appearing behind the Elder in the corridor. The Elder was immensely surprised and exclaimed excitedly, "Incredible! It truly wasn't a waste of my efforts to preserve this until today. It couldn't possibly be just a worthless piece of paper; this is the only treasure I obtained from entering the Cave of Blessings!"
"Elder, since you've passed such a miraculous movement technique to me, I'll share everything I know about this part with you," I said. The Elder treated me sincerely and indeed had the demeanor of a mentor.
Upon hearing this, the Elder's expression turned serious as he said, "This Cultivation Method is too extraordinary and unique. You must not tell anyone about it; I won't mention this matter to anyone either."
"Thank you for your kindness, Elder," I said sincerely as I bowed.
The Elder laughed heartily and pulled me into his room, where we talked for a long time. Later, when we discussed recent events in the sect, he said, "There may be significant changes happening in the sect soon. I have a vague feeling that my time is nearing its end. If a great battle occurs in the sect then, don't be foolish and rush to confront our enemies; preserve your life first. You can always seek revenge later."
I nodded, understanding that the Elder genuinely cared for me; it felt like a friendship across generations.
After leaving the Elder's Pavilion, I hurried towards Yunhua Peak because Yunxi had asked me to visit her at noon, and it was already past that time.
Upon reaching the top of Yunhua Peak and arriving at the Cave, I called out, "Sister Yunxi!"
There was no response from within the Cave. After waiting for a while without seeing anyone come out, I walked around to the other side of the Cave. Many flowers and plants were growing nearby, but most appeared wilted as if they hadn't been watered in a long time. The ground was littered with fallen leaves that had not been swept away.
Given Yunxi's personality, she likely wouldn't allow anyone to come to Yunhua Peak or let anyone clean her secluded space. I faintly heard the sound of flowing water nearby and followed it until I saw Yunxi standing at the edge of a cliff beside a waterfall. She gazed down at the mountains and rivers below, completely lost in thought.
“Yunxi,” I boldly called her name.
Yunxi did not turn around but said, “Aren’t you afraid I might kill you?”
I replied, “If you wanted to kill me, you would have done it last night.”
Yunxi glanced at me and then turned back to look at the scenery below. Yunhua Peak, the highest peak of Azure Cloud Mountain, towered over Azure Cloud Hall. From up here, one could see the entire landscape of Azure Cloud Mountain, even distant villages.
Yunxi said, “The killing intent around you is heavy. It’s different from when I saw you in the Water Storage Room, and your strength has grown too quickly for me not to be suspicious.”
Seeing her like this, I replied seriously, “Everyone has their own secrets. If everyone were loving and kind, how could I have such a heavy killing intent?”
“That’s true; everyone has their own secrets.” Yunxi seemed to recall something. “Yunhua Peak used to be where the Old Sect Leader lived. He often brought me here. The mountains and rivers beneath us are magnificent, but the only flaw is that it’s too quiet. That’s why he specifically set up a Water Storage Room to supply water for the waterfall of Yunhua Peak. I’ve gotten used to falling asleep to the sound of the waterfall for so many years; if that sound suddenly disappeared, I wouldn’t be able to sleep all night.”
I hadn’t expected Yunxi to share this with me. However, recalling the water-like pearl I obtained last night, I took it out from my Qi Sea and said, “Here, take this. You can stop the waterfall tonight; this pearl might help you break that bad habit.”
Yunxi frowned as she looked at me, seemingly pondering why I wasn’t afraid of her like others were. She glanced at the shimmering pearl in my hand and asked, “What is this?”
I explained, “Last night, a Camelback Turtle overturned a pillar on the lakebed. Beneath that pillar was a coffin, and inside it was something like this. The Camelback Turtle probably awakened because this thing came into existence. Try holding it; it will help you relax both physically and mentally.”
“How do you know what happened under the lake?” Yunxi asked as she took the pearl from me.
I couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat behind my back and said, “Everyone has their secrets. I once ate a Spirit Seeking Mouse, which gave me a strong sensitivity for finding treasures. Although I can’t see much now, I can still vaguely sense where spiritual objects are.”
“Hmm.” Yunxi accepted the pearl and looked at me with a serious expression, showing no signs of doubt.
At that moment, a group of people suddenly rushed up from the foot of the mountain, and at the forefront was one of the Elders from the Inner Sect. He pointed at me and shouted, "Arrest this wicked scoundrel who has betrayed his master and destroyed his ancestors!"
I was instantly stunned, looking at Yunxi in confusion. Yunxi coldly addressed the approaching crowd, "Third Elder, how dare you! Who allowed you to come to Yunhua Peak without my permission?"
The Third Elder replied, "Yunxi, this Yang Hao before you has killed the Grand Elder!"
"What?" Not only was Yunxi in disbelief, but I was also taken aback.
"I just came from the Grand Elder's side. How could I have killed him? Besides, I'm just a disciple who can't even make it onto the Dragon-Tiger List. How could I kill the Grand Elder?" I said, somewhat irritated.
Cao Bohou stepped out from behind the Third Elder with a smile on his face and said, "Even a Camelback Turtle's shell can be shattered with a single punch. The Grand Elder is known for his benevolence; if he were caught off guard, what cultivation would be needed to kill him?"
"Did you really kill the Grand Elder?" Yunxi turned to me and asked. After all, we had just met, and none of us were familiar with each other; trust was not easily given.
"Do you think I would kill the Grand Elder for no reason and then stand here as if nothing happened?" I retorted.
"Arrest him!" the Third Elder shouted angrily.
"What gives you the right to arrest anyone in front of me?" Yunxi shot back furiously.
"Yunxi, your authority is truly impressive. You protect someone who has killed the Grand Elder; I suppose even if this Yang Hao killed the Sect Leader, you'd still shield him. Oh my, this Yang Hao is indeed youthful and handsome; no wonder someone like you, who usually stays aloof from worldly affairs, would be moved," Sword Princess said as she strutted out from behind the crowd, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
