I looked around my home, now refreshed and renewed, and felt a bit more at ease. I sent a message to Xiao An: "I've had someone throw your things away."
After a long while, he finally replied: "Zhou Yun, didn't you just say you were only angry?"
"Are you still upset about that?"
"Zhou Yun, Huanhuan is my cat, and Jianjian is our dog. What exactly are you bothered by?"
I stared at the screen of my phone and smiled.
Xiao An and I had been in a relationship for three years, yet in his eyes, I was just another woman entangled in his past, like Liu Lan.
The issues between us had never been about Huanhuan; they were always about Liu Lan.
Xiao An still hadn't realized whether he liked Liu Lan as a person or simply cherished the time they spent together.
I changed the password to the front door, determined never to let Xiao An or Huanhuan back in.
If Xiao An adored Huanhuan so much, he should be with her. I wanted him to stop entangling himself with me.
In the coffee shop, Liu Lan sat down in front of me, proudly declaring, "I am Xiao An's ex-girlfriend."
"Zhou Yun, do you know how long I was with Xiao An before he agreed to date me?"
"Three years and five months."
"Do you know how much Xiao An liked me?"
I nodded. "Yes."
Not only did I know how much Xiao An liked Liu Lan, but I had also experienced it firsthand. Did Liu Lan not realize how much Xiao An cared for her? Did she really need to emphasize it to me again and again?
Liu Lan looked at me with some surprise, probably not expecting me to admit it.
After a moment of silence, she suddenly laughed, "Zhou Yun, you really are pathetic."
"Do you know how much Xiao An likes you? That just shows how much he's suffered because of me."
"If I hadn't broken up with Xiao An, you would never have had the chance to be with him."
I couldn't help but laugh. "So you're saying you're willing to get back together with him now? In that case, I really have no chance."
Liu Lan wore a confident expression. "Of course."
"If I wanted to reconcile with Xiao An right now, he would definitely come back to me immediately."
I calmly took a sip of my coffee. "Oh, too bad you don't have that chance anymore."
Liu Lan's expression changed. "What do you mean?"
"I broke up with Xiao An; I was the one who ended it."
A hint of satisfaction flashed across Liu Lan's face. "Good, since you've already broken up with Xiao An, then move out of that house."
"Return everything he gave you; don’t keep a single thing. Give it all back to me."
I readily agreed, "No problem."
I wouldn't keep anything Xiao An had given me; I would pack it all up and return it to Liu Lan. After all, they were all worthless trinkets.
When I bought them back at ten times the price, I didn't feel a bit of regret.
"And those shares in Xiao An's company that you hold? Sell them all and give me the money."
I shook my head. "That won't work."
I had been in a relationship with Xiao An for three years, during which I invested several million to support his startup. Now that his company was thriving, the shares I held were worth billions.
Liu Lan's face turned green with anger. "Zhou Yun, you who rely on rich men, why do you care about these trifles?"
I smiled and replied, "Sorry, but I'm not relying on rich men anymore."
"Out of money, huh?"
Liu Lan gritted her teeth. "Zhou Yun, don't get too smug."
"So what if you broke up with Xiao An? Do you think you can take back what was originally mine?"
"I'll tell you this: you won't succeed!"
I stood up and patted Liu Lan on the shoulder. "I told you, I'm not interested in Xiao An."
"If you have the ability, then go win him back. Stop just talking here; it's useless."
