**Chapter Two: Escape and Truth**
Under the moonlight, Yu Xia forcefully pulled me out of the car, and I leaned against the cold curb, my heart racing with fear. His figure appeared particularly tall in the night, and the knife in his hand glinted ominously, causing my heartbeat to quicken.
"Yu Xia, what is that...?" My voice was nearly swallowed by terror.
He merely glanced at me, and the coldness in his gaze silenced my scream.
"Don't scream." His voice was low, carrying an undeniable command.
I swallowed hard; from his eyes, I saw a determination and murderous intent I had never witnessed before. Was this Yu Xia really the Xiao Yu I knew?
Turning my head, I noticed Li Tiancheng had regained consciousness. He gripped a handgun tightly, trembling as he aimed it at Yu Xia. Yu Xia scoffed derisively, skillfully avoiding Li Tiancheng's line of sight, and quickly pulled me away from the scene.
"Hurry, get in the car." Yu Xia's voice interrupted my thoughts.
I followed him in a daze as I watched him expertly drag the owner out of a parked car and take the driver's seat himself. At his gesture, I sat in the passenger seat, his gaze sharpening once more, making the owner too frightened to resist.
The car sped away, but my confusion only deepened.
"Xiao Yu..." I hesitated to speak, unsure of how to continue.
"Weren't we just on the phone? Didn't you say there was another person inside you and that you were worried about splitting your mind?" Yu Xia's tone carried a hint of mockery.
"Yes, but..." I recalled that phone call, feeling even more confused inside.
"He’s the kidnapper; you can't show any mercy to someone like that," Yu Xia interrupted me, his gaze turning cold once again.
"He said he was a police officer," I murmured in defense.
"Did he show you any identification?" Yu Xia retorted.
I fell silent; his words left me speechless.
"You trust people too easily," Yu Xia shook his head, focusing intently on driving.
I turned to look at him, filled with doubt. Was this Yu Xia really here to help me?
"We've arrived; get out," Yu Xia suddenly said.
I followed him out of the car into the pitch-black surroundings, with only the moonlight struggling to illuminate the path ahead through the clouds.
"Why are we here?" I asked in confusion.
"They haven't given up; we need to find a place to hide," Yu Xia replied, snatching my phone from my hand and tossing it back into the car.
"But... shouldn't we call the police?" My voice trembled slightly.
"Do you want to be treated like a madman?" Yu Xia shot me a cold glance and pulled me into the darkness.
We stumbled through the woods, finally arriving in front of a half-finished building.
"Let's rest here for a moment," Yu Xia's voice echoed in the empty hall.
I sat on the broken chair he found for me, fear and unease swelling in my heart once again.
Who exactly is Li Tiancheng? Does he really understand my situation? Is Yu Xia truly helping me?
I looked up at Yu Xia, only to see him suddenly stumble and fall to the ground.
"Yu Xia, what's wrong?" I rushed over to help him.
He shook his head, coughed a few times, then looked at me with confusion and surprise in his eyes.
"Sister Fang, what are you doing here?" His voice carried a hint of uncertainty.
