In the old classroom, two boys faced off against five small-time thugs, with scattered money littering the floor and a frail girl lying on the ground.
"Later, you take her and leave first. I can handle these thugs," said the boy in the gray hoodie to the one in the shirt.
The boy in the shirt glanced at the girl on the floor. Despite his concern for the hoodie boy, he had no choice but to agree.
"Alright, I'll go find someone to help you."
Having devised their plan, the two boys launched their attack!
However, the pampered young masters were no match for those who spent their days fighting for survival.
Their strategy failed, and their leader grabbed the girl's hair.
"I'm going to ruin this brat today!" He swung a metal rod down toward her legs!
At that moment, the boy in the shirt desperately broke free from the thug's grip and used his own body to block the merciless blow of the iron rod!
"Ah—"
Jin Chengyan awoke from his dream, only to find himself in a hospital.
Yet he could still feel a bone-deep pain.
A nurse rushed in upon hearing his voice, followed by several doctors and nurses.
Jin Chengyan frowned and asked Qi Ziluo, "What happened to me?" Even lying in bed, Jin Chengyan exuded an undeniable aura of authority, despite having some stubble on his chin.
Qi Ziluo waved for the other doctors and nurses to leave. Seeing that Jin Chengyan still had strength left, she figured it couldn't be anything too serious.
He routinely conducted a physical examination for Jin Chengyan. Aside from his old injuries, he had some new bruises from last night, which were properly treated.
Fortunately, he was lucky. He instinctively turned the steering wheel to the right, causing the right side of the car to be wrecked, but he only sustained minor injuries.
"Why are you out so late? In a hurry to meet someone? Your wife is at home!" Qi Ziluo teased, but to his surprise, Jin Chengyan's expression darkened.
He was going to see Ruan Shengyu!
"No one knows I’m injured, right?"
"No, you were brought directly to our hospital after the accident. I think you're fine, so there's no need to worry anyone! Of course, I haven't told your wife either."
Jin Chengyan propped himself up but felt some pain in his left calf.
The day was gloomy; it made sense now.
"Does your leg hurt?" Qi Ziluo noticed Jin Chengyan looking at his calf and furrowing his brow, understanding the reason.
"A bit." He had stainless steel put in back then, and it hadn't healed well, so it remained inside. Every rainy day thereafter, his calf would ache.
"I'll prescribe you some painkillers. You should stay in the hospital for two days for a thorough check-up; that would make me feel more at ease."
Jin Chengyan nodded and then asked, "Where's my phone?"
"You didn't have your phone on you at the time; it probably got wrecked along with your car!"
Jin Chengyan frowned slightly again. "Then help me call A-Shan... No, never mind. Just call Alice over."
If A-Shan came over, his parents would definitely find out about his injuries; it was better to avoid that hassle.
Qi Ziluo was about to step out to make a phone call, but after taking a couple of steps, she stopped and turned back to Jin Chengyan. "While you were unconscious for those few hours, you kept calling out one person's name, so I didn't tell your wife about the accident."
Hearing Qi Ziluo say this, Jin Chengyan realized who he had been calling.
"Ayan," Qi Ziluo said earnestly, addressing Jin Chengyan by name. "Your leg is in this condition because of Ruan Shengyu. I don't want to see you hurt yourself because of her. You and Yan San..."
As Qi Ziluo spoke about Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting, she felt a pang of sympathy.
"You need to understand that your wife is still waiting for you at home. From now on, whether it's Ruan Shengyu or anyone else, they should only be referred to as other women." Even knowing that Jin Chengyan might get angry, Qi Ziluo felt compelled to say it.

"Alright, I'll send the proposal to your email right away." Jono had just finalized a contract and was in high spirits.
So, as long as she immersed herself in her work, what did Jin Chengyan or Ruan Shengyu matter?
The priority was to restore Jin Corporation back to Qiao's Architecture!
She was looking forward to the day when Qiao Chen graduated and could join the family business so that the two siblings could expand it together.
"Ding ding ding~" A sudden ringing interrupted Jono's daydreams. She glanced at the unfamiliar number.
"Hello?" Jono answered the phone; this was her personal number, separate from work.
"Sorry for the intrusion; this is Jasper." Jasper's warm voice came through.
Oh, it's Jasper. Jono had submitted the company's proposals to Jasper's assistant a couple of days ago, but she had been told that the results would be announced in a week. Why was he calling her ahead of time?
Could there be some inside information?
"Don't worry, go ahead."
"It's like this..." Jasper seemed a bit troubled. "Xining, that girl, can't stay in Qin Cheng. She always wants to go out and play. She said she feels a connection with you, so... she wants to ask you to accompany her for a few days."
Having the Jin Family Young Mistress spend time with the young lady felt a bit strange.
But Jono didn't think so; perhaps this was Jasper's way of showing goodwill!
Of course, Jono felt that he got along quite well with Xining!
"Sure, I happen to be free these days. I can take Xining around to see the sights of Qin Cheng."
And just like that, it was settled.
"Thank you, Miss Qiao. By now, Xining is probably waiting downstairs at your company."
It seemed he was determined that Jono would agree.
No wonder Jin Chengyan said Jasper was quite a character; he really knew how to read people!
As a salesperson, Jono didn't have to stick to a desk job. Plus, given his current status as Young Mistress, who would dare say anything if he wanted to take time off?
So Jono packed his things and headed downstairs. Sure enough, Xining was already waiting by the car. In the middle of winter, she wore only a wool coat over a skirt, black tights, and short boots. She carried a small bag and wore a wide-brimmed hat, looking like a typical Korean girl.
When she saw Jono come out, she waved excitedly!
She ran towards him cheerfully, while two bodyguards behind her kept a vigilant watch on their surroundings, wary of any potential danger.
Jono suddenly felt that Jasper's protective instincts for this sister were quite strong!
Qin Cheng was a law-abiding place, where crime was hardly a concern.
"Jono, my brother said you would take me out to have some fun. I'm so excited! You have no idea how long it's been since I had a proper outing in Qin Cheng, especially with two big guys following me around like I'm on an inspection tour."
Jono could only respond with silence.
When did it come to this? Jono thought, wanting to hang out with Xining?
That Jasper.
"Well, we just hit it off. I haven't had much to do these past few days either, so I thought I'd show you around Qin Cheng. Otherwise, it would be a wasted trip," Jono replied, going along with Xining's words and not exposing Jasper's little scheme. She figured she could indulge Jasper's younger sister just this once.
Xining was quite the social butterfly. She linked her arm with Jono's and told the two bodyguards beside them, "You can head back now. With Jin Family Young Mistress here, no one would dare to touch us."
She simply disliked the feeling of being followed.
The two bodyguards looked a bit hesitant.
"Just go back. Qin Cheng is very safe. Having you two follow us around is actually drawing too much attention." It was indeed quite flashy for two young girls to be out with two men in black suits, complete with sunglasses and earpieces.
The bodyguards nodded. They had originally agreed to listen to Jasper today and let the young ladies enjoy themselves however they wished, so they returned to their vehicle.
Once Xining saw the bodyguards drive away, she couldn't help but dance with joy.
"Jono, do you know? I haven't been able to shake off those two annoying guys for ages! Thank you so much! You're my saving grace! From now on, wherever you go, I'm sticking by your side!" Xining expressed her gratitude wholeheartedly.
Xining's enthusiasm left Jono feeling a bit out of sorts.
Back then, she had been just as close with Ni Yue. They had promised to be lifelong friends—she would be the bridesmaid at Jono's wedding, and Jono would be the godmother to her children. They had even planned for their kids—a son and a daughter—to grow up together…
However, reality had dealt Jono a harsh slap.
Now, she dared not easily open her heart to others. The people she knew were merely acquaintances, the kind who would turn into strangers the moment there was no benefit involved.
But… Xining was truly a simple girl; there was no hint of impurity in her eyes.
Moreover, Jono felt that her closeness to Xining was partly because her brother was Jasper. If she could make Xining happy, perhaps Jasper would also be pleased and collaborate with her.
With these complex feelings in mind, Jono drove her car, taking Xining to the fun places in Qin Cheng.
“Jono, are you really the third party?” Xining's question nearly made Jono lose control of the steering wheel.
This girl was far too direct!
“I’ve been thinking about this for days and couldn’t sleep. You know how it is; girls are quite gossipy. Plus, Jin Chengyan is at the center of gossip in Qin Cheng, so I can’t help but want to know!” Xining looked at Jono eagerly, as if she truly wanted to know the answer.
“Well, what if I said I ruthlessly took Jin Chengyan away from his love, forcing him to be with someone he doesn’t love but who loves him? Would you believe that?”
“I believe it!” Xining exclaimed excitedly. “I admire you so much! How did you do it? Can you share your experience with me? Was it a matter of making things happen or just being forceful? Or did you resort to crying and throwing a tantrum?”
Through the rearview mirror, Jono saw her own shocked expression.
