Jono watched as Jin Chengyan faced the reporters with ease, dismissing their questions with a calm remark about how everyone has their share of emotions. He stated that as long as he was a married man, he would never do anything to betray his wife.
It was quite a spectacle for a man to say such things in front of so many people.
Then, Jono turned off the television.
Just yesterday, she had fiercely told Jin Chengyan that as long as she was his wife, he could forget about being with Ruan Shengyu.
She was merely venting her frustration, trying to reclaim a bit of her dignity.
She hadn’t expected Jin Chengyan to actually make a promise.
Perhaps it was out of guilt?
Some things cannot simply be erased by writing “sorry” in the palm of one’s hand; once done, it is done. Hurting Jono meant hurting her.
Taking a deep breath, Jono opened the car door.
Outside, Yan Beiting saw Jono emerge and flicked away his cigarette butt. At his feet lay several more butts, accumulated in just half an hour.
When Jono had seen that the carjacker was Yan Beiting, she had been taken aback. However, he said nothing and drove the car to a viewpoint along the mountain road, parking it there while he stepped outside to smoke.
To be honest, Jono didn’t understand Yan Beiting at all.
“The press conference is over now. Can you drop me off?” Jono asked. Although she could drive, she wasn’t familiar with this mountain road and could easily get into trouble.
Yan Beiting wore a heavy expression, as if he had made up his mind. “Even so, do you still want to be with Jin Chengyan?”
"Is this how it is?"
Everyone in Qin Cheng knows that Jin Chengyan was with Ruan Shengyu for six years, and even when he married, he didn't cut ties with her. Even now, their relationship is anything but ordinary.

"I said I like you. Would you be willing to come with me?"
Jono was taken aback. Was Yan Beiting joking?
In Jono's mind, they had only known each other for half a month, and this person was already declaring his feelings! Moreover, it seemed he was serious about it...
It was truly... quite surprising.
Understanding that Jono would react this way, Yan Beiting was determined not to let the opportunity slip away.
He wanted to tell her that no matter how absurd it might seem to Jono, he still needed to say it.
"Jono, I..."
Just as Yan Beiting was about to speak, Jono's phone rang. She apologized and took out her phone.
It was Jin Chengyan, calling after the press conference.

Yan Beiting had not done anything to make Jono dislike him; she found him an interesting person. He wasn't as serious and rigid as Jin Chengyan, nor was he overly frivolous. He knew when to be serious and when to be humorous.
However, when Jono compared Yan Beiting to Jin Chengyan, Yan Beiting lost.
Jono waited for half an hour on the mountain road before finally spotting Jin Chengyan's car.
After he got out, he instructed the driver to take his car away and stood where Yan Beiting had just been.
Jono leaned against the front of the car, feeling the breeze as she looked down at Qin Cheng.
While waiting for Jin Chengyan, Jono browsed the internet on her phone. In just half an hour, the names Jin Chengyan, Ruan Shengyu, and Jono had already taken over the headlines of major websites!
The bankruptcy of the Qiao Family had given her a bit of recognition back then, but now this incident had thrust her into the public eye like a celebrity.
To be honest, she didn't like it at all.
She disliked even more being labeled as the third party in the relationship between Jin Chengyan and Ruan Shengyu!
"Jono." Jin Chengyan called out to Jono.
Dressed in a white strapless gown, Jono leaned against the front of the car, her arms crossed, looking somewhat fragile.
Jin Chengyan took off his suit jacket and draped it over Jono's shoulders.
By the time he realized what he had done, the jacket was already on her.
He always had an instinctive urge to protect Jono; when it came to her, his protective instincts were particularly strong.
"Who were you with just now?" But then Jin Chengyan asked this question.
Jono stood up straight and turned around. In her high heels, she only needed to tilt her head slightly to meet Jin Chengyan's gaze.

"Do you think I have nothing better to do than let people spread rumors about my relationship with Ruan Shengyu right when I announce my engagement?" He still wanted to maintain his image as a good man.
However, Jin Chengyan did have someone investigate who would release such news at this time, turning what should have been a joyful announcement into a disaster.
Not long after this incident broke, the stock of the Jin Family began to decline. The romantic life of a group leader often influences their decision-making; how could someone unfaithful in love be loyal in business?
Jin Chengyan would never let that person go after being secretly tripped up!
"Oh, is it not you?" Jono said lightly, but his tone was filled with disbelief towards Jin Chengyan, which genuinely annoyed him.
Why did Jono not believe him? On what grounds did he question him?
"Jono! I'm not as despicable as you think. I know how much harm this exposure could cause you. I've been trying to handle this in a way that wouldn't hurt you. Please think before you speak!" He didn't understand why he felt the need to explain these things to Jono.

"From the moment you chose to do this, it was a form of harm to me," Jono said calmly before turning and getting into the car.
It was indeed very cold outside, yet she stood there in a strapless gown for half an hour, letting the wind clear her mind.
Was she... seeking out her own suffering?
Outside the car, Jin Chengyan cursed under his breath.
What did it mean that he was wrong from the start? Hadn't he given Jono a choice? Wasn't it Jono who signed his name willingly?
Now it seemed like everything was his fault!
When Jin Chengyan got into the car, he started the engine without saying a word. The two of them remained silent throughout the drive.
However, when they arrived at Jin Mansion, a familiar figure waiting outside jolted Jono back to reality. How could he have forgotten about Qiao Chen?
Qiao Chen appeared to have been waiting outside for a long time. Upon seeing his sister return in Jin Chengyan's car, his expression was hard to describe.
She opened the car door as soon as Jin Chengyan parked, calling out to Qiao Chen.
Although Qiao Chen was only eighteen, her protective sister skills were maxed out. As soon as Jono got out of the car, she pulled him close, keeping a wary eye on Jin Chengyan, the school board member who had appeared in the school office before.
"Sis, you come home with me! I won't let you marry this guy!" Qiao Chen insisted, determined to take Jono away.
Jono couldn't help but chuckle at the situation; Qiao Chen was really something...
"You're just a kid. You shouldn't get involved in this," Jono said with a smile, patting Qiao Chen on the shoulder. He was too tall for her to reach his head.
"Qiao Chen, want to come in and sit for a bit?" At that moment, Jin Chengyan stepped out of the car and greeted Qiao Chen.
