Qiao Chen eventually came out of the hospital room. Jono looked at his red eyes and knew that he must have cried recently.
Just as Jono was about to say it was okay, that he still had his sister, Qiao Chen suddenly fainted in front of him!
The biggest advantage of fainting in a hospital is that a doctor comes to check immediately.
Huo Yawen told Jono that Qiao Chen had just been too upset and possibly exhausted lately; he fainted out of anxiety and just needed some rest.
Only then did Jono feel relieved, sitting outside the hospital room waiting for Qiao Chen to wake up.
Huo Yawen handed him a cup of hot water. "I added honey; drink some. You don't look well."
Jono took it. "Thank you." He held the glass cup, feeling the warmth radiating into his palms.
He glanced around but did not see that familiar figure.
He must have left. After all, this was never his business; bringing her here was already a good deed.
He thought he had seen Yan Beiting earlier, but due to the dire situation, he had overlooked him. Now he couldn’t recall seeing him again.
"Are you looking for that person from earlier?" Huo Yawen sat next to Jono, with one seat between them.
Jono didn’t nod but also didn’t deny it. She didn’t want Huo Yawen to know about her relationship with Jin Chengyan; she wanted to remain the innocent and adorable little sister in Huo Yawen's eyes.
Seeing that Jono didn’t seem inclined to discuss the topic, Huo Yawen dropped it.
"I'll handle your uncle's affairs. It's not convenient for a girl like you to deal with these things." He meant to say that with his help, she wouldn’t be so burdened.
"No need, there's nothing inconvenient about my father's matters. This is the last thing I can do for him."
"Jono, you don't have to be polite with me."
Jono smiled lightly, looking at Huo Yawen. "Brother Wen, of course, I won't be polite with you. It's just that I really want to handle this myself. He is my father, and I don't want to have any regrets."
When Huo Yawen heard the words "Brother Wen," he was momentarily taken aback.
Since their reunion, Jono hadn't called him that again. Perhaps he felt they had both grown up, and after such a long time apart, there was bound to be some distance.
However, Huo Yawen still clearly sensed that his relationship with Jono wasn't as intimate as before; it was likely just a friendship.
He had always wanted to do something to make their relationship closer, but Jono was always in a hurry, and he himself was busy with work.
Until this matter arose, Jono calling him "Brother Wen" warmed his heart.
"Alright, don't overexert yourself. If you need any help, just let me know." Huo Yawen reached out and patted Jono's head, just like when they were younger and she received praise; it was a form of encouragement.
Some connections remain unchanged even after so many years.
While Qiao Chen was in a deep sleep, Jono and Huo Yawen talked about many things: how the Qiao family came to be, how their mother left, and how mischievous Qiao Chen was as a child...
Later, when Huo Yawen was called to the operating room by a phone call, Jono finally relaxed and sat down in his seat.
He felt someone sit down next to him, but he was too tired to look over and see who it was.
"Jono, if you're feeling tired, you don't have to say anything. No one will blame you now."
Jin Chengyan's voice.
With her eyes closed, Jono did not respond, but she was surprised that Jin Chengyan knew she was talking to Huo Yawen and that she was really tired.
She just didn't want to worry anyone.
Jin Chengyan reached out and placed Jono's head on his shoulder.
"Sleep for a while."
She thought he had left, but he did not.
She thought she needed to reassure him that she was fine, but he told her not to force herself.
Jin Chengyan, what kind of man are you?
