"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!" Jono exclaimed, feeling utterly embarrassed. She had never faced such a situation before and instinctively crouched down to pick up the towel, wrapping it around Jin Chengyan's lower body.
She didn't even realize how bizarre her actions were; she had practically hugged his waist to secure the towel, even tucking in the corners! Was this her way of making amends?
Suddenly, a light cough came from above her. Jono snapped back to reality and looked up, only to be met with Jin Chengyan's well-defined chest muscles!
She became acutely aware of how shameful her actions were—she had just wrapped a towel around him!
Thinking about what she had done made Jono feel like her intelligence had taken a hit. She quietly lowered her head, pretending that nothing had happened, and slowly backed away as if trying to sneak out unnoticed.
The scent of his post-shower fragrance lingered in her nostrils, reminiscent of the body wash she used in her own bathroom. Being that close to him had left her feeling flustered!
Twice now, and both times were unintentional. She truly hadn't meant to see him naked; it was all just accidents!
The memory of having seen him completely bare made Jono dash back into her room without looking back.
Jin Chengyan chuckled; Jono really was easy to tease. He tightened the towel around himself but noticed the bag she had accidentally left behind, along with some documents inside. He picked it up and glanced at the contents, shaking his head.
After calming down for a while in her room, Jono realized that the documents had been left outside. She needed to go retrieve them!
After hesitating for what felt like an eternity, she finally ventured out. Fortunately, Jin Chengyan was already dressed and sitting at the dining table eating her dinner.
Jono licked her lips; he had eaten her dinner. With no choice left, she took the documents and returned to her room…
"Wait a moment." He stopped Jono, "Are you in trouble?" His gaze indicated the documents in her hand.
Jono took a second to respond, realizing he was referring to the files she had while she was in the shower. Did he really deduce she was in trouble just from those few documents?
"No!" She denied it without thinking. There was no way she could let Jin Chengyan know that she had only been at the company for a few days and was already struggling, especially with the possibility of being kicked out after failing. She believed she would find a way to solve it!
Jin Chengyan raised an eyebrow but chose not to call her out.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Jono had been living here for half a month, and no one had ever rung the doorbell at this hour. Could it be that Jin Chengyan had visitors so soon after returning?
"Go answer the door." Jin Chengyan gestured for Jono to open it.
"It shouldn't be anyone looking for me; no one knows I live here." Clearly, it was someone looking for Jin Chengyan, and how was she supposed to introduce herself?
"Just go." He said firmly, as if giving an order to a subordinate.
Jono pouted but reluctantly set her handbag down and went to open the door.
"If someone asks who I am, should I say I'm your maid..." Jono muttered softly as she walked toward the door. "If people find out you're married, tomorrow's news will blow up..."
Her quiet voice reached Jin Chengyan's ears, and his temples throbbed. Before she could change her mind, he quickly made a phone call.
“Ancheng, I have a property for you—eighty units sold as a package.” He got straight to the point without any preamble.
“Ah?” The person on the other end of the line clearly didn’t catch on immediately.
“I’ll send you the contact information for the salesperson shortly. Remember, don’t mention my name.”
“Ah? Okay.” Although he didn’t understand what was going on, since it was Jin Chengyan making the offer, there was really no reason to refuse.
Five minutes later, Jono came back happily carrying two bags of takeout.
“You ordered takeout? Why didn’t you say so earlier?” As Jono thought about how to explain to the delivery person that he was just living in Jin Mansion to clean up, he was surprised to find that it was just a delivery guy at the door. When the steaming food was taken out of the thermal bag, Jono felt his stomach rumble.
Jin Chengyan didn’t even raise an eyebrow. “Must be a mistake; I didn’t order anything.” After saying that, he stood up and walked toward the dining area.
Jono, however, didn’t care about that. He sat down contentedly and enjoyed his meal.
