At that moment, Feng Ju pointed to a direction, and Wang Niu looked over. There, a mass of black mist lingered in the air, causing Wang Niu to freeze in shock.
"This is an immense amount of resentment; something must have happened nearby. We need to find out what occurred, or we could be in serious trouble!" Wang Niu's tone was urgent.
Feng Ju also realized the gravity of the situation and nodded at Wang Niu. Then, Wang Niu sensed a strong wave of resentment coming from not far away. He looked in that direction and saw a small village. Wang Niu headed toward the village, but when they arrived, they were taken aback. A thick aura seemed to envelop the area, making Wang Niu's heart skip a beat.
"Feng Ju, look!" Wang Niu pointed at the wisps of black mist floating in the air.
At the same time, Feng Ju had already noticed it. She said to Wang Niu, "That's resentment!"
Wang Niu nodded. As they spoke, a villager stepped out and poured out a basin of water, revealing it to be blood.
Wang Niu and Feng Ju were instantly stunned.
"That's a Dead Infant!"
Suddenly, Wang Niu exclaimed. Just then, the villager overheard him and asked, "What did you say?"
Wang Niu quickly approached the villager and asked, "Have there been any infants dying silently in your village recently?"
The villager froze at Wang Niu's words, but soon his expression turned to one of shock as if he had been frightened by Wang Niu's question.
"You... how do you know?" The villager looked terrified, as if he thought Wang Niu was some kind of monster. He took a few steps back.
Seeing the villager's reaction, Wang Niu reassured him, "Don't be afraid; I won't harm you!"
The villager looked at Wang Niu with skepticism.
Wang Niu's gaze fell on the basin in the villager's hands. "Tell me what happened with that basin; which family had a baby?"
The villager hesitated, unsure whether to tell Wang Niu when suddenly a cry came from a nearby thatched house, startling everyone.
"Oh no! Something has happened at the Old Chen Family!"
With that, everyone rushed toward the Old Chen Family!
As Wang Niu and Feng Ju arrived at the Old Chen Family's home, Wang Niu caught a heavy scent of blood that filled him with dread.
"This smell is..."
Feng Ju nudged Wang Niu and said urgently, "Don't say anything!"
The villagers discarded what they were holding and rushed inside. They found the Old Chen Family staring in horror at someone lying on the bed!
This sight piqued the curiosity of Wang Niu and Feng Ju as they looked over and gasped in shock.
What lay there was a child who appeared to have been burned beyond recognition. This left Bai Yu and Wang Niu astonished!
"What happened here?" Feng Ju asked Wang Niu with confusion in her eyes. This made Wang Niu freeze up as he stared at the horrifying corpse before him.
"The Yang Qi was drained away, and that Wraith injected its resentment into the child’s body! That's why this child ended up like this!"
Upon hearing this, Feng Ju frowned deeply while keeping his gaze fixed on the corpse.
Suddenly, the corpse before them began to change and disintegrate into powder!
Wang Niu thought everything would end there but was shocked when the powder transformed into a Ghost Child!
Everyone present was stunned into silence and lowered their heads in fear!
"What... what is happening?" The villagers' faces turned pale with terror!
"Don't worry; it seems like an illusion!" Someone murmured. In an instant, the Ghost Child lunged at everyone, making it clear that something terrible was indeed happening!
"What should we do?"
Everyone was terrified by this scene.
"Don't panic!" At that moment, Feng Ju stepped forward to shield everyone from what was unfolding!
Wang Niu felt his heart gradually calm down as Feng Ju struck down the Ghost Child. However, this did not end their troubles; things were becoming increasingly dangerous!
"What is going on?" Wang Niu pointed at an oddly behaving villager!
Everyone's attention shifted to this villager who had become very strange! His body suddenly turned pitch black!
"Everyone be careful!"
Wang Niu discreetly signaled Feng Ju to get the villagers out first!
At that moment, only Wang Niu remained inside the house.
"Come out!" King called into the room. Suddenly, an eerie woman appeared before them. She gazed calmly at Feng Ju, and in that instant, Wang Niu recognized her as the woman involved in earlier events!
"It’s you!" Wang Niu said coolly to her.
The woman's gaze remained fixed on Wang Niu: "Heh heh, are you trying to meddle where you don’t belong?"
Wang Niu glared fiercely at her: "Do you know who I am?"
A smile crept across her lips that sent chills down Wang Niu’s spine; it seemed unfriendly!
"What exactly do you want?"
Wang Niu felt his scalp tingle with unease!
"What do I want? Perhaps that's what I should be asking you!" King said expressionlessly while looking at her.
The woman pointed toward one side of the bed: "Do you know what this woman did to me? And what about this village? The people here are all doomed!"
Upon hearing her words, Wang Niu froze up; he remained silent because he knew she would speak again soon!
The woman gazed deeply at him before slowly raising her lips into a smile: "I know your identity; so what if you're the Heavenly Emperor? Can you really control us ghosts? Do you know I was killed by them?"
With that statement, her eyes turned red with rage.
This left Wang Niu feeling perplexed.
The woman continued: "Initially, I was one of them too—a pregnant woman—but I was brutally harmed by this family!"
Upon hearing this, anger surged within Wang Niu!
"What exactly happened?" he demanded as he looked at her.
Her expression became complex as she stared back: "Do you know how they treated me?"
Wang Niu shook his head; she continued: "My husband worked hard outside to provide for us both. But one day—out of nowhere—he died! Later on, we received a large compensation sum for his death; somehow they heard about it!"
At this point, she pointed accusingly at the pregnant woman on the bed.
"They are my husband's uncle and aunt! They coveted that money without conscience and directly caused my child's death! Not only that but they framed me for being unfaithful with another man! Before all this happened? They incited people from this village to punish me cruelly—dunking me in a pig cage!"
After saying this, fury radiated from her face; even her body seemed engulfed in rage!
Wang Niu felt conflicted as he observed her anger.
"If you don’t believe me just wait for me!"
With those words spoken, she cast one last glance at the woman on the bed before leading Wang Niu toward another location!
Wang Niu was taken aback as he looked around; he could feel an ominous chill permeating through everything around them!
Clearly, this was where all the resentment originated!
Suddenly her gaze shifted elsewhere; following her line of sight revealed a corpse lying nearby!
Wang Niu furrowed his brow as he approached it and gasped upon seeing its resemblance to the woman before him.
"Now do you believe me?" she asked calmly.
At that moment, confusion filled Wang Niu’s heart as he nodded slowly: "Yes... but what do you intend to do?"
A flicker of anger crossed her face: "Heh heh! Naturally I want them to pay!"
A serious expression crossed Wang Niu’s face: "Are you planning to kill them?"
She chuckled coldly: "Shouldn't they deserve it?"
"But doing so would violate heavenly laws; do you understand?"
She looked unconcerned: "Do you think I care? Heh heh!"
With that said, she vanished suddenly. This made Wang Niu’s heart race as realization struck him; he hurried back to where the villagers lived!
Seeing everything was normal when he arrived made him breathe a sigh of relief!
"What happened?" At that moment, Feng Ju emerged from behind him!
Wang Niu turned around to see Feng Ju standing there.
"Fortunately... that female ghost is determined to kill these people!" His brows furrowed as he wore a grim expression.
"Kill them?"
