"What is going on?" Ruoxi stared blankly at the closed edge, a chill creeping into her heart. Meanwhile, in the Demon Realm, Wang Niu looked at the closed edge with great caution. How could the energy of the Demon King increase so dramatically in an instant?
Wang Niu fixed his gaze on the Demon King, noticing a faint eerie green aura surrounding him. "Did you consume everyone here?" Wang Niu's eyes widened in shock. The coldness on the Demon King's face deepened. "Heh, yes. But so what? This is their deserved retribution. They are all my subjects; it is only natural for me to absorb them!"
A surge of anger welled up inside Wang Niu. He never expected the Demon King to be so despicable and shameless. "Heh, so this is what you are like!"
With that, Wang Niu drew his sword again and lunged at the Demon King, but how could the Demon King be struck by Wang Niu? Suddenly, the Demon King's body dispersed like a wisp of smoke!
Wang Niu's face flashed with a moment of relief, but then he seemed to remember something and attacked the Demon King once more! The result was the same as before, leaving Wang Niu stunned. How could this be possible?
Wang Niu looked at the Demon King in disbelief! The Demon King reformed his body, causing Wang Niu's heart to race. Why did he feel like the Demon King was just a mass of white mist? If that were true, how could he deal with it?
Wang Niu quickly thought through his options when suddenly, the Demon King noticed Wang Niu's distraction and struck! Just as a massive beam of light was about to hit Wang Niu, Bai Yu appeared out of nowhere and stood in front of him!
The enormous beam struck Bai Yu instead, leaving Wang Niu completely stunned. What was happening? He saw Bai Yu collapse to the ground, motionless as if dead!
"Bai Yu, what happened to you?" A tremendous sense of crisis surged within Wang Niu! Bai Yu's face transformed instantly; her entire body became wrinkled like an old woman!
"You... don't look!" At that moment, Bai Yu's voice was extremely weak, which only deepened Wang Niu's anxiety. The Demon King raised an eyebrow at them.
"Heh, I didn't expect you to show up!" The Demon King addressed Bai Yu. She did not respond but kept her gaze fixed on Wang Niu: "Will you despise me?"
Wang Niu froze for a moment and immediately shook his head at Bai Yu: "I won't despise you, Bai Yu! What happened to you?"
Upon hearing Wang Niu's words, Bai Yu smiled brightly as if she were very happy: "Heh, I knew you wouldn't despise me. As long as you don't despise me, I'll be very happy!"
"Wang Niu, take care of yourself and stay with Ruoxi, okay?" As she spoke, Bai Yu's face changed again and seemed to transform into that of an old woman!
This left Wang Niu dumbfounded; he couldn't believe his eyes: "Bai Yu, tell me you'll be okay!"
"Heh, you're so foolish!" The Demon King scoffed at Wang Niu, who ignored him and continued to channel energy into Bai Yu. However, it was futile; Ruoxi's complexion grew increasingly severe, leaving Wang Niu bewildered and unsure of what to do!
"Wang Jun, stop!" At that moment, Bai Yu's face turned terrifyingly pale, which made Wang Niu feel even more helpless!
"Heh, since you two seem so in love, why don't you die together?" The Demon King's words echoed ominously in their ears. In an instant, Ruoxi seemed to see something and widened her eyes. It was then that Wang Niu realized something horrifying: if that beam struck them both, they would soon be lost forever!
"Bai Yu!" Wang Niu called out anxiously just as he tried to embrace her. Suddenly, Bai Yu exerted all her strength and pushed him away in an instant!
This filled Wang Niu with a dreadful feeling! When he looked again, he saw Ruoxi charging toward the Demon King!
Quickly realizing what was happening, Wang Niu thought: Could it be that Bai Yu wanted to perish together with the Demon King? "Bai Yu, no!"
Wang Niu shouted towards her desperately but it was too late; Bai Yu had already embraced the Demon King tightly while he attempted to push her away!
"Be careful!" Wang Niu saw the Demon King unleash Dark Arts! A hole appeared in Bai Yu's back from the attack, leaving Wang Niu deeply shocked and unable to believe what he was witnessing!
Bai Yu's face turned horrifyingly pale—this couldn't be happening! In an instant, panic consumed Wang Niu as he couldn't comprehend why this was happening. Then he saw an explosion erupt before him.
"What... what is happening?" Fear gripped Wang Niu's heart! A massive spark generated a powerful suction force that blasted him out of the Demon Realm!
"Ah!" Wang Niu instinctively cried out as he saw the door to the Demon Realm slowly closing behind him. "What is going on?" He fell to the ground just as the realm vanished entirely!
"This!" Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his heart! "Wang Jun, what's wrong?" Ruoxi rushed over to him!
Wang Niu sighed heavily; he felt terrible inside as if a pressure was rapidly expanding from his heart. He furrowed his brow deeply enough for Ruoxi to worry about him even more. "Wang Jun, please say something; I'm really anxious!"
Wang Niu took a deep breath and looked at Ruoxi with complicated feelings: "Ruoxi... do you think Bai Yu will come back?"
Upon hearing this question from Wang Niu, Ruoxi felt a pang in her heart—a sour sensation washed over her. "Wang Jun...?" Her expression darkened significantly as if she were deeply saddened.
"Ruoxi, please don't cry; I didn't mean it like that. I just wanted to ask because after all... it was Bai Yu who saved me that led to all this!" Ruoxi’s expression soured further; she pulled Wang Niu up without saying another word. Seeing her like this made his heart ache immensely.
"Ruoxi..." He began but she interrupted him with a flat tone: "Let's go."
Wang Niu was taken aback but quickly followed after her: "Ruoxi, did you misunderstand me?" He asked while looking at her.
Ruoxi seemed unhappy and shot him a glare that made him feel unjustly wronged. "Ruoxi... I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have asked you that!" His tone softened immediately but Ruoxi still ignored him!
They made their way back to Heaven together. This time around, Wang Niu had successfully survived his tribulation and naturally returned alongside those who had been with him before!
As he observed Ruoxi’s silent demeanor filled with worry for her well-being while looking at her complicatedly.
At that moment Feng Ju and Xiaomei also woke up!
They looked around in confusion—how did they return? "Xiaomei, are you okay?" Feng Ju asked first.
Xiaomei checked herself and shook her head at Feng Ju who sighed in relief until he sensed something amiss and said: "Something feels off; where are Wang Niu and the others?"
Just as those words left his mouth Xiaomei spotted Wang Niu and Ruoxi approaching them!
Xiaomei rushed over excitedly: "Queen of Heaven!"
Ruoxi smiled faintly: "Yes; are you all okay?"
Xiaomei shook her head: "We're fine!"
"Good," Ruoxi replied before turning away which left Xiaomei stunned. Her gaze shifted back to Wang Niu who asked: "Heavenly Emperor—what happened?"
Wang Niu sighed heavily in response: "I don’t know; perhaps I angered our Queen of Heaven—go check on her!"
Xiaomei paused for a moment before following after Ruoxi.
Feng Ju turned back towards them in confusion: "What happened? Did you offend some deity making Ruoxi unhappy?"
Feeling wronged inside himself now too after hearing this from Feng Ju made him explain everything.
Feng Ju blinked in disbelief: “Are you saying Bai Yu is dead?”
Wang Niu nodded solemnly: “It’s possible but I don’t want her dead! I just wanted to ask Ruoxi how we might bring Bai Yu back—and there’s also a chance she might be A Yao!”
“What did you say? A Yao?” Feng Ju stared wide-eyed at Wang Niu in disbelief!
“Yes—it’s A Yao!”
“How do you know?” Feng Ju questioned curiously.
Wang Niu explained everything which left Feng Ju utterly astonished!
Just then they heard terrifying sounds from below—it sounded like a woman crying!
This made both Wang Niu and Feng Ju look downwards immediately!
"What is that? Wang Jun—look quickly!" Feng Ju pointed towards a strange area below!
Wang Niu followed her gaze only to see wisps of smoke rising from that spot which left him stunned!
"That looks like demonic energy!"
Feng Ju’s expression turned grave—it truly was demonic energy.
"Wang Jun—we need to go down there," Feng Ju insisted seriously!
"Yes—and there’s also that cry we heard earlier!"
With that they rushed towards where they had heard it explode earlier only to find a large area scorched as if burned by something!
"It seems like this place has been set ablaze—look here!" Feng Ju pointed out one particular spot.
Wang Niu glanced where she indicated—it indeed resembled burn marks!
However deep down he knew those weren’t burn marks but rather heavy demonic energy residue left behind!
"Wang Jun—where else should we go?"
