"This isn't...?" Ruoxi's expression turned to one of surprise. Wang Niu, noticing Ruoxi's reaction, understood that she must have already known.
"You know, don't you?"
Ruoxi nodded excitedly and said to Wang Niu, "Yes, this is the Emperor's Sword from before."
Wang Niu's face immediately grew serious as he replied, "Yes, this is indeed the former Emperor's Sword, but unfortunately, it has been tainted by the aura of the Demon King."
As he spoke, the sword in the middle began to tremble violently, causing both Wang Niu and Ruoxi to feel a deep sense of worry.
Wang Niu maintained a grave expression. "Ruoxi, don't move."
Ruoxi understood the seriousness of the situation and nodded at Wang Niu. He then kept his eyes fixed on the sword.
The sword continued to shake, and soon Wang Niu saw dark energy seeping out of it.
He immediately unleashed Emperor Light to suppress it. As the light penetrated the sword, it suddenly dropped to the ground. However, to Wang Niu's surprise, the sword continued to tremble violently while the dark energy transformed into white light. Realizing something, Wang Niu grasped the sword tightly in his hand. A massive surge of energy erupted from it, startling him. Nevertheless, he held on tightly; he knew that this sword concealed immense power that could be more than enough to deal with the Demon King!
"Wang Jun, are you okay?" Ruoxi looked at Wang Niu with concern.
Wang Niu shook his head and took a deep breath as he continued to hold the sword. His expression grew increasingly grim, which made Ruoxi's heart sink with worry.
"Wang Jun, are you really alright?" Ruoxi still couldn't believe it. Wang Niu shook his head again. Sighing, Ruoxi transferred her energy to him!
After a while, Wang Niu's breathing gradually stabilized, and the sword in his hand returned to calmness.
"Wang Jun, what happened to this sword?" Ruoxi asked curiously.
Wang Niu sighed, "I don't know either!"
Just as they were conversing, a powerful aura surged toward them, prompting Wang Niu to heighten his vigilance. "Ruoxi, be careful!"
He pulled Ruoxi behind him just as a strong black wind rushed toward them. At that moment, Wang Niu seemed to sense something and thrust the sword forward into the black wind. The two forces collided with a tremendous impact that created significant waves around them.
Ruoxi stumbled backward from the force, startling Wang Niu who quickly caught her!
"Wang Jun, look!" Ruoxi exclaimed in surprise as she pointed at something.
Following her gaze, Wang Niu saw that the dispersed black wind was slowly transforming into a strange pattern that rapidly morphed into the Demon King!
"Be careful!" Upon recognizing it was the Demon King, Wang Niu felt his heart tighten instantly.
"Wang Jun, what should we do?" Ruoxi's face filled with urgency as she looked at him.
Wang Niu glanced at the Demon King and reassured Ruoxi, "Don't panic; I'm here!"
The Demon King's gaze fell upon them: "Heh heh, I didn't expect you to be quite capable of rescuing your friend from the Second Demon Consort." Wang Niu coldly stared at the Demon King: "Today we settle our accounts!"
The Demon King scoffed at Wang Niu's words: "Heh heh, just you two? How naive!"
Wang Niu smirked and pushed Ruoxi behind him before challenging the Demon King: "Then let's see!"
With that said, he charged toward the Demon King and thrust the sword directly at him!
Initially calm on his face, the Demon King froze in disbelief upon seeing the sword: "This... this is impossible!" His shock was evident.
"Heh heh, how is it impossible?" As the Demon King hesitated, Wang Niu raised his sword and plunged it into his body. Instantly, the Demon King stiffened as if controlled; dark mist erupted from him!
Ruoxi was momentarily stunned as if recalling something and warned Wang Niu: "Be careful; don't go near!"
Suddenly, for some reason, the Demon King's body began to swell dramatically, making both Wang Niu and Ruoxi cautious.
"What’s happening to this Demon King?" Ruoxi asked gravely as she focused on him!
At that moment, Wang Niu also kept his eyes on the swelling figure of the Demon King; it was expanding like a balloon!
Looking at the sword embedded in him, Wang Niu noticed it was continuously channeling energy into the Demon King's body. Suddenly realizing something important, he said to Ruoxi: "I understand now; look at that sword!"
Ruoxi followed his gaze and saw light continuously flowing from it into the Demon King's body.
"This is bad; he might self-destruct! Wang Jun, we need to retrieve that sword from him!" Ruoxi urged urgently!
"Okay!"
Wang Niu quickly pulled back the sword from within the Demon King's body.
They started to leave but before they could get far enough away, an explosion echoed behind them. The force of that explosion reverberated through them and left Wang Niu astonished!
"This is bad! Wang Jun, look!" Ruoxi exclaimed with a pale face as she stared back at where the Demon King had been standing. When Wang Niu turned around too, he saw thick smoke billowing from that spot which left him dumbfounded!
The smoke spread like a fierce tiger; within moments it enveloped everything above them in darkness.
Wang Niu furrowed his brow: "This is bad; this world might explode! We need to reach the boundary quickly!"
With that said, he grabbed Ruoxi and they ran toward the edge where changes were already occurring in the demon realm—thick smoke filled everywhere around them which left Wang Niu stunned!
"Look!" Suddenly everything in the demon realm began disappearing while cries echoed all around them!
It was hauntingly tragic and sent shivers down their spines; if this continued would their world vanish too?
"Wang Jun; we can't stay like this or we'll disappear too!" Ruoxi's tone was tense.
"I know," Wang Niu replied firmly. "Ruoxi, you protect me as Guardian!"
Ruoxi nodded and positioned herself atop him ready to shield him!
Wang Niu gazed ahead at the great door of boundary with a stiff expression; furrowing his brows tightly together he summoned all his strength until a massive beam of light formed in his hands which struck against that black door—slowly illuminating it with a faint glow.
Wang Niu squinted his eyes before launching another attack against this beam of light until finally a large crack opened up before them!
A beam of light seeped out from beside that door just as Wang Niu sensed something amiss and called out to Ruoxi: "Ruoxi; hurry through here!"
Upon hearing this command she dashed towards that opening feeling an overwhelming sense of familiarity wash over her—looking around she realized they had returned!
"Wang Jun; we’re back!" Ruoxi exclaimed joyfully through that opening!
Wang Niu turned back glancing at her with a smile knowing they had made it home!
"Good; wait for me!" Just as he attempted to return however—suddenly both legs felt as if someone had gripped them tightly rendering him immobile—he instinctively looked down only to see the Demon King appearing right before him.
"You... how can you still be here?" Wang Niu was taken aback; logically speaking wasn’t he supposed to be dead?
The Demon King smirked ominously: "Surprised? I thought you'd be."
Wang Niu didn’t falter but felt an unsettling chill run through him as he observed closely—the realization hit him hard causing terror to wash over his features: “You... you used a soul substitute!”
The coldness on The Demon King's face deepened: “What do you think? Surprised? I won’t let you escape—even if I die I’ll drag you down with me.” With those words spoken an even darker aura enveloped him sending shivers down Wang Niu’s spine!
"Wang Jun; what's wrong? Hurry out!" Confusion appeared on Ruoxi’s face.
“Ruoxi; go first!” The weight in Wang Niu’s voice made her uneasy.
"What’s wrong?" She looked anxiously at him!
"Heh heh; it's hopeless now—give up!” The ominous voice of The Demon King echoed through their surroundings causing Ruoxi’s eyes widen in fear.
"This can’t be happening!” She gasped in shock.
The Demon King flashed her a sinister smile: “What? You think it's impossible?”
Ruoxi awkwardly chuckled before launching an attack against The Demon King but unbeknownst to her—his form was merely an illusion.
“What’s going on?” Her eyes widened in disbelief.
Wang Niu frowned deeply clearly perplexed by these developments!
“Heh heh; die!” The Demon King's body surged with heavy power separating both Wang Niu and Ruoxi while simultaneously sealing off their escape route!
This left Wang Niu feeling grave concern!
