Looking at the Ghost Gate Sect Master, Wang Niu felt a chill run down his spine as a strange smile crept onto the Sect Master's face.
"Long time no see," the cold voice of the Ghost Gate Sect Master echoed in Wang Niu's ears, causing him to shudder with an indescribable feeling.
"Surprised, aren't you? Now, I will let you taste death," the Ghost Gate Sect Master said to Wang Niu.
This made Ruoxi and Feng Ju's expressions turn serious. They took a deep breath as a cloud of White Mist suddenly rose before the Ghost Gate Sect Master, instantly putting Ruoxi and Feng Ju on high alert. They quickly moved to block the Sect Master.
The Ghost Gate Sect Master's eyes were filled with an eerie glint, his lips curling into a slight smirk, radiating murderous intent. He looked at Ruoxi and Feng Ju and asked, "Do you really think you can deal with me?"
As he finished speaking, Ruoxi and Feng Ju conjured their own clouds of White Mist. The mist surged toward the Ghost Gate Sect Master, who flashed a hint of killing intent in his gaze. He regarded Feng Ju and Ruoxi with coldness in his eyes.
"Go!" With a command from Feng Ju and Ruoxi, their White Mist surged forward toward the Ghost Gate Sect Master. At that moment, Wang Niu narrowed his eyes. Suddenly, the White Mist seemed to freeze in place, leaving Ruoxi and Wang Niu stunned. What was happening?
Ruoxi and Wang Niu exchanged glances just as a dark light appeared in the Ghost Gate Sect Master's hand.
This left Ruoxi and Wang Niu momentarily speechless. In an instant, Feng Ju seemed to realize something and shouted loudly to them, "Be careful!"
In that moment, they saw the light from the Ghost Gate Sect Master's hand rushing toward them.
Ruoxi was startled and quickly pulled Wang Niu down. Feng Ju also swiftly dodged the beam of light. In an instant, the light struck a large tree behind them, causing it to explode violently. The three were taken aback as the tree vanished in an instant.
"Heh heh, just wait. You won't be so lucky," said the Ghost Gate Sect Master before vanishing from their sight. Immediately afterward, dark shadows surrounded them, enveloping them in oppressive darkness that doubled their pressure.
Wang Niu took a deep breath and looked around; dealing with these entities would require a significant amount of energy. He wondered how much energy they had left after all this.
A wave of despair washed over the three of them.
Wang Niu glanced at Ruoxi and then at Feng Ju. Suddenly, an idea struck him, filling him with hope. He called Ruoxi and Feng Ju over to share his plan.
This left Ruoxi and Feng Ju stunned.
"Wang Jun, I still think your idea is unwise. If we summon the giant dragon, I'm afraid your body won't be able to handle it."
Upon hearing Ruoxi's words, Feng Ju nodded and said to Wang Niu, "I think what Ruoxi said makes sense. We don't need the dragon; Ruoxi and I can handle this. If we rely on the dragon too much, it could affect Wang Jun. After all, Wang Jun's body is that of a mortal, and if the energy consumption is too great, it won't be good for him."
After speaking, Feng Ju exchanged a glance with Ruoxi, who understood immediately and joined Feng Ju in dealing with the entities.
In an instant, a massive beam of light erupted between them, surrounding those entities completely.
Wang Niu was stunned. He looked at Ruoxi and Feng Ju in shock as their faces turned pale. His heart sank; if this continued, both Feng Ju and Ruoxi would be in danger.
"Ruoxi, Feng Ju, you need to stop!" Wang Niu urged anxiously, but Ruoxi and Feng Ju didn’t seem to hear him. This made Wang Niu extremely worried. He sighed and said to them, "If you keep this up, it will be dangerous."
Feng Ju and Ruoxi appeared oblivious to Wang Niu's concerns as they continued their actions. Wang Niu felt helpless, but just then, the surrounding entities were dispersed by the beam of light unleashed by Ruoxi and Feng Ju.
Seeing this, Ruoxi and Wang Niu withdrew their energy, their faces now showing signs of distress.
Wang Niu helped them sit on a large stone.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his tone laced with growing concern.
Ruoxi and Feng Ju shook their heads. Wang Niu felt somewhat relieved. He placed his hands on their shoulders, and in an instant, a red glow appeared in his palms, enveloping both Ruoxi and Feng Ju.
Before long, they absorbed the red light, and their expressions began to improve.
Feng Ju took a deep breath and stood up. At that moment, a woman's wail echoed from a distance, causing Feng Ju's expression to change instantly.
Ruoxi also stood up at that moment. She looked toward the source of the sound and said to Feng Ju, "Why does that voice sound so familiar?"
Upon hearing Ruoxi's words, Feng Ju's face grew even more troubled.
"That's Xiaomei's voice," Wang Niu exclaimed as he stood up, his eyes filled with panic.
"What should we do?" Ruoxi asked anxiously.
Feng Ju furrowed her brows and said to Ruoxi and Wang Niu, "We need to go there immediately; otherwise, Xiaomei will be in even greater danger."
Wang Niu and Ruoxi nodded in agreement after hearing Feng Ju's words, and the three of them flew directly to the place where Xiaomei's cries were coming from.
Upon their arrival, they found themselves in a very strange location, which immediately put them on high alert.
"Everyone be careful," Wang Niu whispered to the group.
Ruoxi and Feng Ju nodded in response. The three of them formed a tight circle. Ruoxi glanced around and noticed peculiar sounds echoing in the air, resembling someone dragging graphite.
"What is going on?" Wang Niu asked, looking at Ruoxi and Feng Ju.
Ruoxi and Feng Ju exchanged puzzled glances, turning their attention to the left.
"This... it seems like Xiaomei," Feng Ju said, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes.
Xiaomei.
Wang Niu and Ruoxi were momentarily stunned.
How could this possibly be Xiaomei?
Following closely behind Feng Ju, Wang Niu felt increasingly anxious. For some reason, an unsettling feeling began to rise within him.
As they stepped inside, Ruoxi suddenly let out a loud scream, drawing the attention of Wang Niu and Feng Ju.
They turned to see Ruoxi's face darken instantly, leaving both Wang Niu and Feng Ju dumbfounded. What was happening?
"Ruoxi, are you okay?" Feng Ju asked, concerned for her friend.
Ruoxi felt an inexplicable sensation, as if someone had tightened their grip around her throat, rendering her speechless. This sudden change made Wang Niu's heart race.
Wang Niu quickly summoned his powers and cast a spell on Ruoxi. In no time, her face took on a peculiar expression.
Ruoxi's eyes rolled back, revealing only the whites.
Wang Niu's heart sank at that moment. He glanced at Ruoxi and noticed a flicker of murderous intent in his gaze, for he saw a small ghost entering Ruoxi's body.
His expression grew serious. Just then, Feng Ju approached Wang Niu, furrowing his brow. He whispered, "Wang Jun, I sense something lurking in the shadows here. We must remain vigilant."
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned as he looked at Feng Ju. At that instant, the entity within Ruoxi suddenly emerged, startling Wang Niu because the Evil Spirit bore a striking resemblance to Ruoxi.
"What is happening?" Feng Ju was equally bewildered. How could there be an Evil Spirit that looked so much like Ruoxi?
Wang Niu frowned and replied to Feng Ju, "That Evil Spirit is also Ruoxi."
"What do you mean? That can't be possible!" Feng Ju was taken aback by Wang Niu's words.
Wang Niu nodded in response to Feng Ju. Just then, a chilling wind swept through, causing the Evil Spirit within Ruoxi to become frenzied. Its eyes glowed with a green light that suddenly radiated all around.
Wang Niu found it somewhat blinding, while Feng Ju seemed to sense something amiss. He warned Wang Niu, "Wang Jun, that green light is toxic; we need to be cautious. Moreover, this Evil Spirit is born from the dark thoughts within Ruoxi's body. These thoughts carry a very sinister essence. If we don't eliminate them in time, it could become troublesome."
Wang Niu felt a wave of anxiety wash over him as he heard a strange sound coming from not far away, intensifying his unease.
"It seems we must eradicate the dark thoughts within Ruoxi; otherwise, she will be in great danger," Wang Niu said to Feng Ju.
Feng Ju nodded and was about to join forces with Wang Niu to unleash Divine Power when Wang Niu stopped him. "Wait a moment; we cannot act yet."
Wang Niu looked at Feng Ju with confusion.
"Wang Niu, look around," Feng Ju said, his gaze scanning the vicinity.
Wang Niu's eyes filled with confusion as he glanced about, noticing that there seemed to be nothing nearby.
"What's wrong?" Wang Niu asked, puzzled.
Feng Ju's expression grew serious as a protective shield materialized around Wang Niu. With the shield in place, Feng Ju let out a sigh of relief, which only deepened Wang Niu's confusion. Just as he was about to ask what was happening, he suddenly spotted a large swarm of bats gathering outside. The bats' eyes glowed with a faint green light, creating an eerie sight in the night, and Wang Niu's heart sank further.
It was clear that these bats had been drawn here for a reason. They kept pecking at the glass, filling Wang Niu with dread; if this continued, the protective shield before them would surely break.
Wang Niu took a deep breath and glanced at Ruoxi. With that Evil Spirit around, the bats would not pose any immediate threat to her.
"Feng Ju, we need to find a way to redirect these bats to deal with the ones on Ruoxi."
"Yes, it seems these bats are bloodthirsty. To attract them, we need something with a strong scent of blood. We have to figure out how to get that scent onto the bats."
Wang Niu paused for a moment before an idea struck him. He nodded at Feng Ju and said, "Let me handle this."
Feng Ju nodded in agreement. Just then, he noticed that the Evil Spirit on Ruoxi was suddenly emanating a strong scent of blood, which made Feng Ju feel hopeful; if that was the case, they wouldn't have to worry about the bats attacking them.
Wang Niu glanced at Ruoxi and told Feng Ju, "I'll take care of this here; you go check on Xiaomei."
Wang Niu's words caught Feng Ju's attention. He nodded and said okay. At that moment, the bats surged toward the Evil Spirit on Ruoxi.
Seeing so many bats approaching, the Evil Spirit's expression turned terrifying.
For a moment, worry crept into Wang Niu's heart. Soon after, regret washed over him as he realized that while the bats were attacking the Evil Spirit, they were also harming Ruoxi.
"What’s going on?" Wang Niu furrowed his brow.
Then he witnessed a horrifying scene: the Evil Spirit seemed to realize something and transmitted its blood scent directly to Ruoxi.
Ruoxi's face turned pale instantly.
As soon as the bats caught wind of Ruoxi's blood scent, they launched an attack against her. Wang Niu's brow furrowed deeply as his heart began to twist in turmoil.
Watching Ruoxi suffer painfully made Wang Niu gasp. At that moment, he felt an instinctive urge and dashed forward. Taking advantage of the Evil Spirit being preoccupied with the bats, he summoned a dragon.
The instant the dragon appeared, it illuminated the entire area.
The bats were also illuminated by the dragon's light.
A wave of comfort washed over Wang Niu as if some power were continuously flowing into him. He took a deep breath just as he sensed an immense aura rushing toward him; it was the Evil Spirit charging at him.
Wang Niu squinted his eyes and readied himself to confront the incoming Evil Spirit.
In an instant, two massive forces collided, leaving Wang Niu momentarily stunned. Then suddenly, for reasons unknown, the Evil Spirit lunged at him, causing an overwhelming pressure to envelop him.
Wang Niu frowned and suddenly felt something shift within him. He quickly signaled to the dragon; in that instant, it charged through the Evil Spirit’s body. Seizing that moment, Wang Niu swiftly drew his knife and plunged it into the Evil Spirit. The dragon let out a deafening roar that sent shivers down Wang Niu’s spine before it returned to his body. For some reason, an intense pain surged through Wang Niu’s chest as he clutched it tightly. In that moment of clarity, he glanced at the side where the Evil Spirit stood; after being stabbed, it had developed a large wound from which thick smoke billowed out.
Wang Niu narrowed his eyes and prepared to strike again when suddenly the downed Evil Spirit sprang back up. This made Wang Niu’s heart sink; if he didn’t eliminate the Evil Spirit immediately, everything would be lost.
A sphere of white light appeared in Wang Niu’s hand. The emergence of this light lifted the Evil Spirit into mid-air. However, this seemed to intensify Ruoxi’s suffering even more, causing Wang Niu to frown in confusion over what was happening.
"Ah!" At that moment, both Ruoxi and the Evil Spirit emitted anguished cries that sent chills down Wang Niu’s spine; their screams were terrifyingly horrific.
Wang Niu stood frozen in shock—what was happening? Why was Ruoxi like this? He felt utterly lost about what to do next.
The Evil Spirit then looked at him with calculating eyes and spoke: "You better release me quickly; otherwise, this woman will be in danger. Don’t you realize we are one? If I die, she dies too."
Upon hearing the words of the Evil Spirit, Wang Niu found himself hesitating, seemingly pondering the truth behind what the Evil Spirit had said. The Evil Spirit took a deep breath, noticing the uncertainty in Wang Niu's eyes, and continued, "I know you can't bear to hurt Ruoxi. Have you forgotten everything Ruoxi has done for you? Do you really want to kill her?"
As the Evil Spirit spoke, he stepped closer to Wang Niu. The words echoed in Wang Niu's mind, creating a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Just then, the Evil Spirit suddenly raised a knife and lunged at Wang Niu's head. In an instant, Wang Niu saw the knife in the Evil Spirit's hand and swiftly dodged it. This momentary lapse caused the Evil Spirit to lose his grip, and seizing the opportunity, Wang Niu plunged the knife into the Evil Spirit's body. A deafening scream erupted from the Evil Spirit.
Then, the Evil Spirit began to fade away gradually until he completely vanished.
Exhausted, Wang Niu collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily. He felt as if his energy had been significantly drained. Just then, Ruoxi fell down, startling Wang Niu. He quickly got up and rushed to support her.
"Ruoxi, are you okay?" he asked anxiously. Ruoxi's expression had turned particularly frightening, as if she were on the brink of collapse.
Wang Niu's face paled instantly. What should he do? If Ruoxi truly ended up like that Evil Spirit had said...
His heart raced with unease as he took a deep breath. Just as he was about to channel energy into Ruoxi, her body began to turn transparent for some unknown reason. Wang Niu froze in shock, and in that very moment, Ruoxi completely disappeared.
This left Wang Niu feeling as if he had been struck by lightning. What was happening?
In an instant, he felt as though the entire world was crumbling around him.
At that moment, a piercing scream echoed from ahead, causing Wang Niu's heart to tremble. What was going on?
He hurriedly ran forward and saw a massive black mist before him. Within that mist seemed to be figures of people, tightening his chest with anxiety. He activated his celestial vision just in time to see inside—Feng Ju and Xiaomei were trapped within.
"What is happening?" Wang Niu was taken aback as he watched Feng Ju's expression grow increasingly pained. His heart sank deeper with dread as he charged into the black mist. However, he did not anticipate the multitude of challenges hidden within; in an instant, he was lifted by the mist as if pinned in mid-air by invisible nails. Wang Niu attempted to unleash his Divine Power but froze when he realized it wasn't working. What was going on?
In that moment of confusion, Wang Niu stood there dumbfounded.
"Because you will die here," a male voice echoed in his ears.
Upon hearing this, Wang Niu felt a tremor in his heart, a wave of fear washing over him. Could it be that within this immense black mist lay a trap?
Wang Niu wanted to open his eyes and escape the black fog, but who would have thought that the more he struggled, the stronger the force within the mist became? His own strength was gradually fading away, and a tingling sensation spread across his scalp. What should he do?
Countless voices echoed in his mind.
