Wang Niu turned around, but he saw nothing, which made him increasingly uneasy. He took a deep breath, and at that moment, it felt as if something within him sensed danger. Suddenly, Wang Niu's body lifted off the ground and hovered in mid-air. Beneath him appeared numerous footprints, as if they were searching for him. This filled Wang Niu with great concern; perhaps those creatures had already come close to him.
In the next instant, the Demons emerged all at once. Wang Niu was startled; just then, the Demons raised their heads, and he saw their terrifying expressions, as if they intended to devour him.
Suddenly, all the Demons below jumped up and grabbed Wang Niu's feet.
A powerful force surged beneath him, pulling Wang Niu downwards. If he fell into the hands of these Demons, it would truly be the end for him.
The Demons relentlessly attacked Wang Niu. Just when he didn't know what to do, a tremendous power erupted from within him, transforming into light.
When the Demons saw the light radiating from him, they were instantly struck with fear; terror flashed in their eyes.
In an instant, the light grew brighter and pierced through the bodies of the Demons.
"Ah!" The Demons cried out in pain. In just a moment, all of them vanished. At that time, Wang Niu slowly descended to the ground. The surrounding illusion became even more frightening, as if something was constantly watching him.
With each step he took, the environment darkened further, causing Wang Niu to feel increasingly anxious. Ruoxi was missing, so he had to be more cautious.
He glanced around, recalling the moment when Ruoxi disappeared. If he wasn't mistaken, this must be related to those who had taken Uncle Chen.
Wang Niu took a deep breath and continued forward. However, he was not prepared for what he saw a short distance ahead—a bizarre scene.
The elderly people lay on the ground, motionless. Yet they were indeed alive. This made Wang Niu's heart grow heavy with caution. He observed them closely when suddenly all the elderly stood up; their bodies were extremely thin, resembling skeletons.
Suddenly, they began to approach Wang Niu. He cautiously stepped back several paces; in his mind, he felt that something was off about these elderly people.
As their faces grew increasingly terrifying, Wang Niu's heart skipped a beat. One elderly person nearby suddenly spat out Black Blood at him. Wang Niu froze for a moment and quickly tried to dodge; however, it was too late—some of the Black Blood splattered onto him. Instantly, black mist erupted from it, and his clothes were soaked in Black Blood. Wang Niu was taken aback; just then another elderly person moved closer to him.
Wang Niu froze again; surely this elderly person wouldn't attempt to do something similar to what just happened?
This thought made Wang Niu feel extremely awkward. He had no choice but to summon a protective shield around himself using his inner strength. At that moment, one of the elderly suddenly slammed into his protective shield with great force.
Wang Niu was startled for a moment, and then the old man continued to spew Black Blood from the protective shield surrounding him. This Black Blood seemed toxic; in no time, it eroded the protective shield completely, causing Wang Niu's heart to tremble. He took a deep breath, and at that moment, countless old men rushed towards him. The protective shield in front of Wang Niu seemed to be on the verge of collapsing.
Suddenly, Wang Niu's body became extremely hot. The giant dragon residing within him burst forth, swallowing those old men whole. This left Wang Niu astonished. Just as he was about to speak to the dragon, the protective shield in front of him was breached. In an instant, the old men lunged at Wang Niu, making him feel as if he were bearing the weight of tons of stones. He was momentarily stunned; before he could push these old men away, they all spat water at him. This left Wang Niu frozen in shock. In an instant, his hand and even his entire body felt as if they were being burned by a great fire.
Wang Niu glanced at his fingers and saw them suddenly turning flat. In a heartbeat, his fingers transformed into bones. He was taken aback as the old men also turned into skeletons, sending a shiver down his spine. Looking at those bones, the giant dragon transformed into beams of light that entered Wang Niu's body. His bony fingers returned to normal, filling him with a strange sensation. Then, his body felt invigorated again as he stood up. He looked at his hands and noticed wisps of White Mist appearing on them. This White Mist seemed to possess magical properties, startling Wang Niu and igniting a sense of eagerness within him. He raised his hand and struck towards a nearby object, instantly destroying it, which left him very surprised.
He tried again, and suddenly the power in his hand grew even stronger, astonishing Wang Niu.
At that moment, voices echoed from the mountains: "Wang Niu, help me!"
Wang Niu froze for a moment; wasn't that Ruoxi's voice? Did something happen to Ruoxi?
His heart raced with urgency as he glanced up at the sky and noticed more black mist gathering above. At that moment, he discovered something unexpected: the dragon inside him surged forth and began to absorb the black mist into its belly. In no time at all, Wang Niu felt an overwhelming surge of power coursing through him. It was astonishing; he could clearly sense Ruoxi's location—right inside the mountain ahead.
Wang Niu was amazed; could it be that the dragon's absorption of those substances granted him such extraordinary abilities?
Then, the dragon suddenly flew into a cave ahead of him. Instantly, Ruoxi's aura grew stronger, causing Wang Niu's heart to tremble again. Could Ruoxi be just ahead? Without hesitation, Wang Niu quickened his pace and headed straight for the cave entrance. As he stepped inside, darkness enveloped him momentarily, creating an uncomfortable sensation. Gradually, his vision adjusted slightly; he saw that the path ahead was pitch black and winding like a mountain trail. To his left lay heaps of white bones—remnants of those who had entered before.
Wang Niu swallowed hard and surveyed his surroundings when suddenly something on the wall caught his attention. Small holes appeared along it; just as he wondered what they were for, wisps of black mist began to seep out from these holes. The sight stunned Wang Niu because this black mist was toxic gas. He quickly covered his nose but still felt the poisonous gas entering his lungs.
In an instant, he felt his entire body go numb.
"What is happening?" Within moments, he found himself unable to move.
Suddenly, black patches appeared all over his hands and body.
Wang Niu's face turned pale with fear when something unknown emerged beside him. He froze for a moment and looked at it—a strange mermaid slowly approached him. Wang Niu felt a surge of dread as her gaze remained fixed on him. As she drew closer, he suddenly heard Ruoxi's voice—it sounded very near as if she were inside the mermaid's belly. This realization puzzled Wang Niu; instinctively, he glanced at the mermaid's abdomen just as it twitched slightly.
This made Wang Niu feel even stranger. Then he stepped closer to her just as she seemed about to lunge towards him when suddenly a red mark appeared on her belly. Wang Niu was taken aback; watching her closely filled him with uncertainty about what to do next when a crack suddenly formed on her belly skin, leaving him utterly stunned.
"Wang Niu, quickly attack the mermaid's mind!" Ruoxi's voice came through at that moment.
Wang Niu was taken aback. Could it be that Ruoxi was inside?
Thinking this, Wang Niu immediately launched an attack on the mermaid's consciousness. In an instant, the mermaid's mind split in two. Suddenly, a surge of black mist erupted from the mermaid's mind, rushing toward Wang Niu. He thought the mist was aimed at him, but to his surprise, it absorbed into his heart instead. This left Wang Niu astonished. At that moment, he felt a new surge of power within him, and then he heard a loud voice. Turning to look, he saw Ruoxi emerging from the mermaid's belly. However, Ruoxi's complexion seemed a bit off, which made Wang Niu's heart skip a beat. He walked over to her and asked, "Ruoxi, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
Ruoxi nodded and assured him she was fine.
Wang Niu was curious; hadn't Ruoxi disappeared into the coffin before? How did she end up in the mermaid's belly?
Before he could ask her anything further, a gust of black wind suddenly rushed toward him. Wang Niu froze for a moment, but Ruoxi quickly repelled the black wind. Just then, another gust of black wind surged toward Wang Niu, catching him off guard. Suddenly, the black wind around him vanished again, leaving Wang Niu puzzled. Could it be related to the dragon's presence?
"Wang Niu, be careful! Don't let your guard down," Ruoxi's voice echoed in his ear. Wang Niu nodded in response and saw Ruoxi walking ahead of him. At that moment, a chill crept up behind him, making his heart shiver involuntarily.
Instinctively, Wang Niu turned to glance behind him but saw nothing there. Just then, he felt something and turned back around to find a very ferocious face right in front of him. Startled, Wang Niu instinctively swung at it.
"Ah!" Ruoxi screamed in pain. It was only then that Wang Niu realized he had struck Ruoxi instead.
"Ah! Ruoxi, are you okay?" Wang Niu exclaimed in shock. What just happened? He had clearly aimed for that terrifying face; how did he end up hitting Ruoxi?
"I... I'm fine," Ruoxi said while covering her bruised face. Instantly, guilt welled up in Wang Niu's heart.
"Ruoxi, I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to hit you," Wang Niu said apologetically.
Ruoxi glanced at Wang Niu, shaking her head with a smile. "It's fine, I know you didn't mean it."
However, Wang Niu still felt a pang of guilt. He asked Ruoxi, "What happened just now?"
Wang Niu looked at Ruoxi and explained, "What you saw earlier was indeed a ghost face. You were blinded by the ghost, which is why you mistook it for me."
Upon hearing this, Wang Niu understood, but he still felt very guilty. Ruoxi noticed this and said to him, "You don't need to feel guilty. I know you didn't do it on purpose. Besides, I'm fine now, right?"
Looking at Ruoxi's swollen face only made Wang Niu feel more remorseful.
"Ruoxi, are you really okay?" Wang Niu asked again.
"I'm fine! Now let's find Uncle Chen. When that thing brought me here, I sensed Uncle Chen's presence," Ruoxi replied with a smile.
"Okay."
Ruoxi pointed to a certain spot, indicating it to Wang Niu. He followed her finger and looked over.
"What is that?"
Ruoxi's expression became complicated as she said to Wang Niu, "That's the Human Blood River, and Uncle Chen is down there."
Wang Niu was instantly stunned by her words. The Human Blood River? And Uncle Chen is down there? Doesn't that mean Uncle Chen is dead?
Seeing the astonishment on Wang Niu's face, Ruoxi understood his thoughts and reassured him, "It's not what you think. Beneath the Human Blood River, there's still a small barrier. We need to create a Blood Path beneath this Human Blood River so we can go down and find Uncle Chen."
After listening to Ruoxi's explanation, Wang Niu finally understood.
"Ruoxi, you said there's a path here, but where is it?" Wang Niu looked around, confused by the lack of any visible road. Was Ruoxi mistaken?
"Yes, there is indeed a hidden path here. However, when we activated this path, we forgot to do one thing: we need a catalyst," Ruoxi explained to Wang Niu.
"A catalyst? You mean something to open this river?"
"What do you mean by that, Ruoxi?"
Ruoxi smiled and said, "Just wait here for a moment; you'll understand soon." With that, Wang Niu watched as Ruoxi vanished.
After a while, Wang Niu still hadn't seen Ruoxi return, which made him anxious. Just then, Ruoxi appeared beside him, and his worries began to ease.
"I thought something happened to you," Wang Niu sighed in relief. As long as Ruoxi was okay, everything was fine.
Ruoxi chuckled and replied, "How could anything happen? I can take care of myself."
It was only after Ruoxi said this that Wang Niu noticed she was holding a skeleton in her hand. This left him stunned. What did Ruoxi need that for?
"Ruoxi, what are you doing with that?" he asked in confusion.
Ruoxi smiled again and said, "This is my catalyst."
Wang Niu was taken aback. He looked around and saw that the area was filled with skeletons. Ruoxi smiled deeply before placing all the bones into the Human Blood River. In an instant, bubbles began to rise from the river, slowly forming into a Blood Path.
Wang Niu was startled by this sight; however, the Blood Path only appeared slightly and did not fully materialize.
"I'm going to get some bones," Ruoxi said to Wang Niu.
Wang Niu nodded and agreed with Ruoxi.
Then, Wang Niu turned and went to the place where he had seen the bones earlier, bringing them back. The two of them placed the bones into the Blood River.
"Why haven't the Blood Path appeared yet?" After waiting for a while without any movement, Wang Niu felt anxious. He glanced at Ruoxi.
Ruoxi's expression was calm; she wasn't worried about the Blood Path not appearing.
"Don't worry, just wait a bit longer," Ruoxi comforted Wang Niu.
Wang Niu nodded at Ruoxi. She looked at him and said, "Look, it's coming out."
One by one, the Blood Path emerged, and Wang Niu's anxiety faded away. Ruoxi immediately stepped forward and said to Wang Niu, "I'll go down first; you follow me closely."
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned. He quickly stepped in front of Ruoxi, determined not to let her face any danger on his behalf.
Ruoxi had no choice but to nod and followed behind Wang Niu. Just as Wang Niu stepped onto the path, he suddenly felt a chill run through him, causing him to instinctively shrink his neck.
"What's wrong?" Ruoxi noticed Wang Niu's subtle change and immediately became tense. Wang Niu shook his head, indicating he was fine.
Ruoxi still felt uneasy. She glanced around; it seemed something had appeared in their surroundings. A serious expression crossed her face. Before long, Wang Niu saw a protective barrier materialize in front of them. Taking a deep breath, he asked Ruoxi, "What is this?"
Ruoxi looked around and replied to Wang Niu, "This is here to protect us because the Yin Qi in this Blood Path is too heavy for you to bear. Right now, you are a being of both Yin and Yang; you can't absorb too much Yin Qi, or you'll get into trouble."
Wang Niu was somewhat surprised and nodded at Ruoxi. Just as they stepped into the Blood Path, the road behind them suddenly closed off, filling Wang Niu with a sense of panic. He took a deep breath, and at that moment, the path began to shake unexpectedly.
"Ruoxi, be careful!" For some reason, Wang Niu instinctively thought of Ruoxi and pulled her into his embrace. Ruoxi was taken aback but a hint of sweetness spread across her face.
"Thank you, Wang Jun," Ruoxi suddenly said to Wang Niu.
This was not the first time Wang Niu had heard Ruoxi call him by that name. He paused for a moment and asked, "Ruoxi, did you call me that before?"
Ruoxi nodded and confirmed with a simple "yes."
At that moment, the Blood Path began to slowly disappear. Ruoxi's brow furrowed in alarm as she urgently said to Wang Niu, "We need to hurry; this path is going to vanish!"
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned but quickly replied, "Okay."
The two of them hurried along, and soon they found themselves facing a maze.
Wang Niu stared blankly at it and turned to Ruoxi. "Ruoxi, how do we get through this?"
