"What is going on? Could it be that Ling'er is a fox?" Wang Niu looked at the woman.
The woman remained silent, continuing with her tasks. Then, Wang Niu noticed that Ling'er was suddenly covered in fur—fox fur. The characteristics of a fox began to manifest on Ling'er.
"This, this..." Wang Niu was taken aback. He no longer needed the woman to confirm it; he had already figured it out.
As soon as he finished speaking, Ling'er's fox tail appeared. It was a fox with nine tails.
"This..." Wang Niu took a step back, and the woman paused her work. She turned to Wang Niu and said, "Actually, you know her quite well, and there is a bond between you."
"What kind of bond?" Wang Niu was astonished, looking at the woman with wide eyes filled with shock.
The woman nodded at him and replied, "I can't tell you everything right now. Although she has a bond with you, it is not a destined one."
"Then where is my destined partner?" For some reason, he felt an urgent need to know.
"Do you really want to know?" The woman observed the expression on Wang Niu's face.
Wang Niu nodded and said to her, "Yes."
A certain emotion flickered in the woman's eyes, and Wang Niu caught it instantly.
Suddenly, he seemed to realize something and embraced the woman tightly.
"Are you my destined partner?" Wang Niu asked her.
The woman was momentarily stunned before shaking her head. Wang Niu was taken aback; he felt that she wasn't being truthful. "You are my true destined partner, aren't you?"
The woman lowered her head, unable to look at Wang Niu, which only strengthened his resolve. He gazed at her, feeling a familiar sensation rising within him. He embraced her and suddenly kissed her cheek.
"Don't," the woman quickly stopped Wang Niu, as something frightening appeared on her face.
"What’s wrong?" Wang Niu was taken aback, looking at her in surprise.
The woman shook her head and said, "There are some terrible things on my face; it's dirty. I don't want you to touch it."
Upon hearing this, Wang Niu became angry. He spoke seriously to her, "I won’t allow you to say that about yourself. Do you understand?"
The woman was stunned by Wang Niu's words. After a moment, she nodded and said, "I understand."
Wang Niu was satisfied and gave a soft hum in response. Then he kissed her cheek again. At that moment, something changed on the woman's face; the frightening marks began to fade away gradually.
"Look, those things on your face are gone!" Wang Niu said excitedly.
The woman paused for a moment and touched her face. It seemed much smoother now, and those terrible marks had disappeared. This made her heart swell with joy.
"I told you before, you're not ugly. In my heart, you're the most beautiful one," Wang Niu said earnestly.
His tone was very serious, making the woman feel sweet inside.
"Thank you," she said sincerely to Wang Niu.
"No need for that. I know you are my destined partner. It feels like we’ve met somewhere before. I know you feel it too. Although it’s not the right time yet, in my heart, I have already decided on you. No matter what happens in the future, I will protect you well," Wang Niu said earnestly to her.
The woman was shocked by his words.
She nodded, but just as they were speaking, Ling Er suddenly collapsed onto the ground.
"Are you going to be angry?" Wang Niu initially intended to help Ling Er up, but considering the woman's feelings, he asked her instead.
Although she might feel angry, the woman wouldn't stop Wang Niu from helping Ling Er at such a critical moment.
She nodded at Wang Niu and said, "It's fine, you go ahead."
Wang Niu felt deeply moved. He looked at the woman earnestly and said, "Don't worry, I don't have any romantic feelings for Ling Er. I just want to repay her for saving my life."
The woman nodded in response. Then, Wang Niu walked over and helped Ling Er up, placing her in a nearby position. The woman approached and helped Ling Er again, channeling some energy into her. Wang Niu was somewhat surprised by this scene.
"You... what are you doing?"
"Aren't you trying to save her? Naturally, I want to help you," the woman said with a gentle smile.
"But you're giving energy to Ling Er. What about yourself?" Wang Niu was astonished that the woman would go so far for him.
"I'm fine; it's just a little energy expenditure. It's not a big deal," she replied.
After that, Ling Er's appearance gradually began to return to normal.
Wang Niu felt a mix of emotions; perhaps he had been a bit excessive. He shouldn't have let the woman do this for him.
After a while, the woman's expression suddenly turned pale.
Wang Niu's heart skipped a beat as he hurried over to support her.
"Are you okay?" Wang Niu asked the woman with a worried expression.
"I'm fine," she replied.
After saying this, her gaze fell on Ling Er, who seemed to have improved significantly after receiving Wang Niu's energy.
"She'll be fine by tomorrow, so don't worry."
"Alright, you should rest for a bit too," Wang Niu said as he helped the woman to a nearby spot. Just as she settled down, Ling Er opened her eyes. Her gaze landed on the woman, and immediately her face turned pale, as if she remembered something. She looked down at herself, and her complexion worsened even more.
"Wang Niu, come here," Ling Er called out.
Wang Niu was taken aback, unsure of what Ling Er wanted.
Seeing that Wang Niu remained still, a hint of anger crossed Ling Er's face. She endured the pain in her body and walked over to him, her eyes fixed on the woman. "Wang Niu, do you remember what I told you before? I asked you to stay away from this woman. Why do you keep approaching her?"
Wang Niu was surprised by Ling Er's words. He glanced at her before shifting his gaze back to the woman, who merely smiled faintly at him.
"Ling Er, why do you always have to be hostile towards her? Don't you know that she just saved you? She even transferred energy to you."
"What are you talking about?" Ling Er's expression turned incredulous, seemingly unable to believe Wang Niu's words.
Wang Niu sighed and explained to Ling Er, "She used a lot of energy to save you. I don't know what grievances exist between you two, but at least in this moment, she means no harm."
Ling Er paused for a moment, a complex expression flickering across her face.
"Alright, I should head back to rest," the woman said, and with that, she transformed into a wisp of black smoke that floated into Wang Niu's hand.
Ling Er's gaze was fixed on this scene; she was momentarily stunned before rushing to Wang Niu's side, taking his hand in hers with a look of utter shock.
"What are you doing?"
Wang Niu was taken aback for a moment, finally understanding Ling Er's meaning.
"I know what I'm saying."
"Are you sure you know? How much do you understand her? You're just going to do this for her?" Ling Er looked furious.
Wang Niu was somewhat confused. He glanced at Ling Er and said, "She deserves it."
Although the woman had entered Wang Niu's hand, she could still hear his words, and a warm current flowed through her heart.
"Thank you."
Wang Niu was startled. How did he hear the woman's voice? Instinctively, he looked at his hand and saw wisps of black mist rising from it. Could it be that the woman really was speaking to him just now?
"What are you looking at?" The woman asked, noticing Wang Niu's gaze fixated on his palm, her tone curious.
Wang Niu snapped back to reality and turned to Ling Er, then shook his head.
"Alright then, you take care of yourself. I'll head out for now. But I want to tell you to really think about what I said; you must listen," Ling Er said before leaving, casting one last deep glance at Wang Niu.
Wang Niu nodded. After Ling Er left, he looked at his palm and murmured, "I will believe you."
The next day, after Wang Niu got up, Ling Er walked in, carrying some food. Wang Niu's heart skipped a beat as memories of the previous events flooded back. Noticing Wang Niu's stunned expression, Ling Er paused and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Wang Niu shook his head and replied, "I'm not hungry."
Ling Er was taken aback, and just as she was about to speak, footsteps suddenly echoed from outside the door. It was the host.
"Miss Ling Er, something has happened. You need to go check it out," the host said. Upon hearing this, Ling Er's expression changed dramatically as if she recalled something important. She quickly followed the host out.
Wang Niu watched Ling Er's retreating figure with confusion. At that moment, he felt a warmth spreading through his palm.
This warmth quickly enveloped his hand, and Wang Niu blinked in surprise as he instinctively looked at his palm. He noticed wisps of black mist swirling around it. Within seconds, a woman appeared before him.
"You've come out," Wang Niu said, feeling very happy inside.
The woman nodded in acknowledgment.
Then her gaze fell upon the food Ling Er had brought, sparking Wang Niu's curiosity. He asked her, "Is there something wrong with that food?"
The woman hesitated for a moment as if recalling something before replying to Wang Niu, "No, that food is normal."
Wang Niu was somewhat surprised by her response. "You say it's normal?"
The woman nodded at him and then sat down, picking up a bun to eat. Wang Niu watched her in astonishment and eventually joined her at the table.
"By the way, could you do me a favor?" Wang Niu asked the woman.
While eating, she nodded and said, "Sure, just tell me what you need. As long as I can do it, I will definitely help you."
The woman's words struck a chord in Wang Niu's heart. He nodded gratefully at her and began to speak.
"You are talking about Uncle Chen," the woman said, her face showing surprise.
Wang Niu nodded again and asked, "Do you know Uncle Chen?"
The woman's expression grew complex, as if she were pondering something. After a moment, she replied to Wang Niu, "I can't say I know him, but Uncle Chen has a deep connection with you."
