The place was filled with the dead, bodies lying on the ground and hanging from the trees. This sight filled Wang Niu with a deep sense of fear.
Suddenly, he felt a force behind him. Out of nowhere, this force surged violently toward him, causing Wang Niu to lurch forward. The intensity of the force was overwhelming, and it propelled him right onto the pile of corpses.
As he landed atop the bodies, a nauseating stench assaulted his nostrils, nearly making him vomit.
Then, he sensed something beneath him move, as if something had come back to life.
In an instant, his mind exploded with a horrifying thought: could it be that the corpse beneath him had revived? Just then, the body shifted again, intensifying Wang Niu's fear. He quickly scrambled to his feet and stepped back a few paces, his gaze fixed on the corpse. At that moment, the body began to writhe as if it were about to rise. This made Wang Niu's heart race even more. To make matters worse, he noticed that all the corpses around him were trembling as if they were about to get up. A chill ran down his spine; surely these corpses weren't all going to attack him at once?
Instinctively, Wang Niu took a few steps back but soon realized there was no way out. His back pressed against a wall he hadn't seen before, leaving him feeling utterly frustrated. How had this wall appeared out of nowhere?
As he turned to look at the wall behind him, suddenly, the nearest corpse lunged at him.
Before he could react, it knocked him down. The foul odor from the corpse overwhelmed his senses as he grimaced and pushed it away. But before he could catch his breath, another corpse lunged at him from his left.
Soon, countless corpses were closing in on him, surrounding Wang Niu in an instant.
"Ah!" It felt as if a thousand-pound weight had been placed upon him; these bodies pressed down relentlessly. To make matters worse, Wang Niu sensed that his strength was being drained away by these corpses.
Panic surged within him as he realized that in just a short time, all his energy had vanished.
At that moment, feeling weak and on the verge of collapse, something stirred within him—like a massive dragon awakening inside his body. It suddenly expanded and burst forth with immense power, flinging off the corpses that weighed him down. The force propelled those bodies into the air as if they had exploded.
Wang Niu collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath. He felt utterly exhausted, as if all his strength had been stripped away. Looking around, he noticed that the corpses that had once littered the ground were now gone. As he surveyed his surroundings with growing caution, he realized this place could very well be deadly; he needed to be extremely careful.
After catching his breath for a moment, Wang Niu stood up and moved forward. With no option to retreat, he could only press on.
However, just a few steps ahead, he encountered a dramatic change in his surroundings.
Everything around him changed unexpectedly, sending a chill down Wang Niu's spine. He looked around and found himself in a Cursed Graveyard.
Beside each Tomb stood a pile of white bones. As he surveyed the scene, he noticed that all the skeletal figures bowed their heads, seemingly focused on something unseen.
He watched cautiously; these bones appeared to be immobile, rooted in place. This realization emboldened Wang Niu, and he took a few steps forward. However, it wasn't long before he sensed something strange behind him, causing him to freeze in place. A wave of fear washed over him, and instinctively, he turned around. To his astonishment, he found himself surrounded by a group of skeletal figures.
Was he about to face another adventure?
Wang Niu stared at the bones, feeling an oddity about them. They kept their heads lowered and reached out their hands toward him, as if asking for something.
Wang Niu was momentarily taken aback, unsure of their intentions.
The skeletons continued to stretch out their hands toward him, demanding something. Just then, they lifted their heads, revealing Eyeballs staring directly at Wang Niu. His heart raced as confusion set in. Before he could comprehend the situation, the skeletal figures lunged at him, tugging at his clothes until they were stripped away in mere moments. Wang Niu was stunned; upon acquiring his garments, the skeletons began to laugh. He was bewildered by their behavior but soon recalled that he had some white paper in his pocket. Without hesitation, he tore the paper into pieces and tossed them into the air, creating a moment reminiscent of a Celestial Maiden scattering flowers.
The skeletons' eyes lit up with excitement as they rushed towards Wang Niu. He felt a surge of panic and instinctively stepped back. The fragments of paper captivated the skeletal figures entirely, leaving Wang Niu puzzled amidst the surrounding Tombs. Suddenly, a bright light flashed ahead of him. He paused for a moment before moving toward it. In an instant, the light surged toward him violently, enveloping him completely. He stood there dazed as laughter echoed in his ears.
For reasons unknown, an unusual sensation coursed through his body.
He blinked as his vision cleared before him, revealing scenes of beautiful women emerging from water.
Wang Niu's heart raced; he instinctively licked his lips as the women approached him from the water's edge, completely unclothed. He swallowed hard as they clung to him like octopuses, wrapping around his body. Soon enough, Wang Niu could hardly withstand it; an overwhelming reaction surged within him as he realized something was amiss—his body felt tightly ensnared.
"Ah!" In an instant, he felt as though he couldn't breathe; it felt like his body was constricting rapidly.
The women quickly withdrew from him, and wisps of black mist surrounded them. Wang Niu froze; these were no ordinary women—they were Demons. He gulped nervously as dark lines appeared on his palms, spreading like a virus throughout his body. In no time at all, his entire form turned black, sending waves of terror through Wang Niu as an even more horrifying scene unfolded before him.
Cracks seemed to appear on his body, spreading rapidly as if he were a volcanic eruption, gushing forth bright red blood. Then, Wang Niu's body began to disintegrate, pieces of him falling away.
"What... what is happening?" At that moment, he was already lying on the ground, his lower body completely gone. Soon after, his entire form vanished.
Time passed without him realizing how long it had been. His consciousness faded until he heard a familiar voice that suddenly pulled him back to reality. He blinked and opened his eyes to see a woman looking at him with a worried expression.
"You... are you okay?" the woman asked anxiously.
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned, still unable to comprehend what had just happened. He looked at the woman and said, "Did I not die? How am I still alive?"
The woman paused for a moment, as if recalling something. She replied, "No, you didn't die. Have you forgotten? I was helping you cultivate your energy. What you saw earlier was merely an illusion. Don't worry; you won't die. The energy gate within you has been opened. Just rest for a few days and see how things go; there's no need to rush."
Wang Niu thought for a moment and could only nod in agreement, responding with a simple "Okay."
They returned to the room, and just after they closed the door, the woman's expression suddenly changed.
"Not good; she's back." With that, the woman vanished, transforming into a wisp of smoke that entered Wang Niu's hand.
Before Wang Niu could react, the woman was gone, leaving him puzzled. Just then, he heard increasing commotion outside. Looking over, he saw Ling'er covered in blood standing before him.
Wang Niu was taken aback and rushed forward to catch Ling'er. "Ling'er, what happened to you?"
Ling'er appeared extremely weak; her lips moved but no sound came out.
This frightened Wang Niu greatly. He said to Ling'er, "I'll call for help!"
Upon hearing this, Ling'er suddenly changed her demeanor and quickly grasped Wang Niu's hand tightly.
"Don't go, listen to me."
Wang Niu paused for a moment, forced to stop and look at Ling Er. Blood continued to seep from her body, which left him puzzled.
"Ling Er, tell me, what can I do to save you?" At this point, Ling Er was already on the brink of death. If he didn't provide her with help soon, she might die right in front of him.
Although the woman had told him not to trust Ling Er, he couldn't forget that Ling Er had saved his life at a critical moment. No matter what, that debt remained.
Ling Er opened her mouth as if to speak, but suddenly her expression froze, and her complexion turned dark blue. This frightened Wang Niu, and then he saw Ling Er lose consciousness.
"Ling Er!" He kept calling out to her.
Ling Er did not respond; it seemed she had fallen into a deep unconsciousness. Wang Niu's heart raced with anxiety as he urgently called out for the woman in his palm.
When the woman appeared, her expression was very complex. "Do you want to save her?"
Wang Niu looked at the woman's face, feeling hesitant. For some reason, he was very concerned about her emotions. After a moment, he finally spoke to her. "She saved my life after all. Once I help her this time, we will no longer owe each other anything."
The woman regarded Wang Niu as if she were contemplating something before she finally agreed.
"Help her up," the woman instructed Wang Niu.
He nodded and lifted Ling Er. Then the woman took out a package from her bosom. After opening it, Wang Niu realized it contained a row of fine needles. He was taken aback and asked the woman, "What is this?"
"Needles. These needles can extract the venom from her body; she has been poisoned," the woman said seriously to Wang Niu.
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned and confused. "Are you saying she's been poisoned?"
The woman nodded and said yes. Then, she took out several needles. Seeing this, Wang Niu asked her, "What can I do?"
The woman glanced at Wang Niu and replied, "You need to hold her down. If she struggles, it could be dangerous; the needles in my hand might hurt her."
Wang Niu nodded in agreement and immediately pressed down on Ling'er.
The woman looked at them for a moment before starting her work.
She began by inserting the first needle into Ling'er's body. Suddenly, Ling'er, who had been unconscious, opened her eyes. Her expression was one of intense pain, which made Wang Niu's heart tremble.
"Ling'er, what's wrong?" he asked anxiously.
Ling'er seemed not to hear him; her face twisted into a grimace of agony.
Wang Niu couldn't help but gasp in shock at the sight.
He turned to the woman. "What's happening to her?"
The woman's expression grew complicated as she glanced at Wang Niu and continued to insert needles into Ling'er. The second and third needles followed swiftly.
At that moment, Ling'er let out a heart-wrenching scream.
